Chapter 656 Gone Mad
Tiffany's case wasn't just on Gabriel's radar; the Blackwoods were all over it too.
No matter how much Tiffany tried to argue, the evidence was rock solid, and her crimes were jaw-dropping.
When the news hit, everyone was floored!
The former internet star Tiffany had committed a bunch of crimes and was getting roasted online.
Dylan didn't get off easy either. Even though he didn't know about Alfred's death, he was in on Sam's kidnapping, and Gabriel wasn't about to let that slide.
Alex kept his head down at work, avoiding Gabriel's gaze.
He felt guilty for missing Dylan's betrayal and even for helping him out.
He was too ashamed to stick around at the Lancaster Group.
So, today, Alex handed in his resignation.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Gabriel Lancaster. I'm partly to blame for Mr. Sam Lancaster's kidnapping. I ignored Dylan's weird behavior. I've let you and Mr. Sam Lancaster down."
Alex was full of guilt. He'd never cried, even when he bled and sweated, but now his eyes were red.
Alex had been with Gabriel for years. They had a boss-employee relationship, but they were like brothers. He was loyal to Gabriel, and Gabriel gave him chances to prove himself, helping him achieve a lot.
Honestly, Alex didn't want to leave. Only by staying with Gabriel could he create more value for himself.
But he just couldn't face Gabriel anymore after messing up.
Gabriel listened quietly to Alex. His deep gaze fell on the resignation letter, and Alex, who usually could read Gabriel like a book, couldn't figure out his thoughts this time.
"You can go out first." Gabriel didn't make a decision right away.
Alex wanted to say something, but seeing Gabriel's slightly furrowed brows, he kept quiet and left the CEO's office.
Word got to Harrison that Alex had quit.
Harrison rushed to Gabriel's office.
"Alex is leaving?"
After asking, he saw the resignation letter on the desk. Harrison picked it up and read it, then frowned.
"Alex is our go-to guy. With him around, you and I can chill a bit more. Plus, finding a new assistant and getting them up to speed will take forever. And our competitors are just waiting to pounce. Alex leaving now is a big hit for us."
Even though there were non-compete clauses and Alex had strong ethics, so they weren't worried about him leaking Lancaster Group's secrets, losing a talent like him was a real blow.
Plus, it wasn't Alex's fault; it was Dylan's mess. Alex was just fooled by Dylan for a bit.
Harrison thought, 'Didn't we also miss Dylan's weird behavior?'
Gabriel glanced at Harrison.
"I know."
Harrison's eyes lit up.
"So, you're not letting Alex go?"
"Yeah."
Gabriel knew Alex's character and skills well.
Alex was Alex, and Dylan was Dylan. Gabriel wouldn't blame Alex for Dylan's screw-up.
"Give Alex a week off to chill."
Harrison smiled, "OK, no problem."
He was really worried Gabriel would let Alex go just like that.
Then he'd have to work overtime every night.
Harrison thought, 'If that happened, how would I have time to date!'
When Alex found out Gabriel had given him a week off and didn't accept his resignation, he was super grateful.
He decided to go back to his hometown and tell his family about what Dylan had done.Dylan couldn't dodge this prison sentence.
Sophia got a call; Tiffany wanted to see her.
But she had no interest in seeing Tiffany, who had hurt Sam so badly.
Sophia really regretted not beating Tiffany half to death and throwing her in prison back then.
At the police station, Tiffany kept demanding a lawyer and to call her family, causing a lot of trouble. But the police had their rules, and since she was involved in a criminal case, she was only allowed to contact her lawyer and no one else.
A few days later, Tiffany promised her lawyer a sum of money. The lawyer sent a message to the mysterious person using the number Tiffany provided.
However, the message seemed to disappear into thin air.
The phone call only resulted in a busy signal.
Soon, Gabriel got hold of this number.
Gabriel had someone investigate, but they only found out it was a virtual number with an IP address in City B.
One day, Harrison rushed in.
"Gabriel, the police station reported that Tiffany has gone mad!"
At the same time, the Blackwoods and Sophia also got the news.
Tiffany had gone mad. She kept saying she had a headache at the police station, then started banging her head against the wall until she was bleeding and unconscious. The police sent her to the hospital, and when she woke up, she screamed and cried, eventually being diagnosed with a mental illness.
Harrison wondered, 'Does this mean Tiffany will escape all her crimes?'
Gabriel sneered, "If she's mad, then send her to a mental hospital."
Harrison, who had been worried that Tiffany would escape punishment, was instantly delighted by Gabriel's words.
"Alright, I'll handle this personally. I'll make sure to find the 'best' mental hospital and get some people to deal with her."
Gabriel raised his hand, and Harrison left.
With Alex gone, Harrison temporarily took over Alex's duties.
Harrison was much more ruthless than Alex. He took a lawyer to the police station to handle the paperwork, and the mental hospital sent a car straight to the ward to pick Tiffany up.
Tiffany would rather die than go, claiming she wasn't sick. She was given a sedative and carried onto the mental hospital's car.
Harrison specifically called reporters to follow and film the process from the hospital to the mental hospital, broadcasting it live.
The mental hospital housed many patients, some with milder symptoms than Tiffany and some with more severe ones. On her first day, Tiffany was beaten black and blue and was so scared she couldn't sleep a wink all night.
Even though she was also a patient, she was terrified. She was on the verge of a breakdown.
The hospital was always bustling.
Harrison recorded a video and sent it to Sophia and Gabriel.
Harrison: [How do you feel? Happy?]
Sophia: [Yes. Happy!]
In the video, Tiffany's hair was almost pulled out. She was curled up in a corner, her eyes full of fear, looking very pitiful.
But Sophia felt no sympathy and thought,
'When Sam was suffering, Tiffany didn't think about sparing Sam!'
Although Alfred was killed by Tiffany, he had committed many crimes in his life and deserved to die. Now, the truth about his death was just revealed.
And Raskolnikov had harmed many girls in his life.
Sophia felt no pity for these people.
Gabriel glanced at the video and then closed it.
He was totally calm.
From now on, Tiffany's fate had nothing to do with him.
Gabriel thought, 'Of course, as long as Tiffany is alive, she would never have a good life. Whether Tiffany is truly mad or not, she would spend the rest of her life in a mental hospital!'
