Chapter 304 Wishful Thinking
Caroline felt that Jake Hughes was a good person, and Sophia mentioned that Jake Hughes had been busy helping her a lot recently.
"Sophia is not feeling well inside, and Jake Hughes helped me comfort her, "Caroline said with a smile.
Jake said, "All right."
Jake Hughes went in.
He found Sophia injured, with a slightly angry look in her eyes.
He asked, "How did you get hurt?"
Sophia shook her head, and said, "It's nothing."
Jake Hughes pursed his lips, remaining silent for half a minute.
Jake suggested, "Let's go out to eat, I'll take you to enjoy some good food and relax a bit."
Sophia replied, "I'm not in the mood."
Jake reminded, "Kelly, your current state is not good. If the children see you like this, they will surely be very worried."
He suggested, "Let's go, have some good food, adjust your mood so you can have the strength to continue the fight."
Jake continued, "Although Gabriel has been granted custody of the children, you are their mother and have the right to visit your children."
He added, "If Gabriel continues to unilaterally prohibit you from visiting, you can appeal on this basis."
Listening to Jake Hughes' words, Sophia suddenly understood. Hope was ignited, a small flame gradually burning within her.
Sophia went out with Jake Hughes, calling Caroline on the way.
Caroline said, "Then I won't buy groceries, I'll go to the hospital to check."
Sophia replied, "All right, let me know if you need anything."
After hanging up the phone, Sophia thought for a moment and then transferred the remaining money in her hand to Caroline.
Jake Hughes took her to a high-end restaurant.
Midway through the meal, Sophia went to the restroom.
They were in a private room on the second floor, and as Sophia turned the corner to the restroom, she heard a very familiar voice.
The voice was deep, and pleasant, but also ruthless.
Gabriel said, "Grandma, I will never give up the three children. It's impossible for Sophia to take the children away."
Sophia clenched her fists, then turned back to the private room.
Gabriel felt somewhat helpless. The children's recent actions made him realize that perhaps his approach was too extreme.
He had won the lawsuit, but in doing so, he had hurt the children.
After a brief pause, he continued, "But if Sophia is willing to come back home, she can be with the children."
Upon hearing this news, Madam's previously implausible thoughts about the two of them changed once more.
Gabriel said, "All right, Grandma, I have things to attend to here. I'll be home early tonight."
After hanging up the phone, Gabriel returned to his private room.
When Sophia returned, Jake Hughes noticed that she was somewhat unhappy.
She had seen Gabriel.
Jake Hughes also realized that Gabriel was dining at the same restaurant.
From Sophia's expression, it was clear that things were not pleasant between her and Gabriel.
If they were unhappy, he was happy.
Jake Hughes served Sophia some food.
Despite having no appetite, Sophia ate a little. Gabriel's words kept echoing in her mind.
Gabriel wouldn't give up, and she couldn't take the children away.
Gabriel was such a dominant figure, his power and status were heights that Sophia could never reach.
In court, it seemed like she had a good chance of winning, but in the end, Gabriel emerged victorious.
Even if she appealed again, Sophia couldn't win against Gabriel.
Sophia had completely lost custody of the three children.
Insomnia continued to accompany Sophia. She lay there, staring at the ceiling with wide eyes.
Pain and despair surrounded her. These nights were all too familiar to Sophia. Her life was a dark abyss.
Why didn't she just die during childbirth back then?
That way, she wouldn't have to face the situation of being separated from her children.
Caroline hurried to the hospital, where the headmistress had already been taken to the operating room.
Earlier, on her way to the hospital, Caroline received a call informing her of the headmistress's illness suddenly worsening.
Caroline anxiously stood outside.
An hour later, the doctor came out.
The doctor informed her, "This illness suddenly worsened and it was more serious than we anticipated. We had to temporarily remove half of the tumor, and the rest will have to wait until her condition improves."
Caroline replied, "Thank you!"
"Please go make the payment," the nurse said and handed her the bill.
Caroline watched as the headmistress was taken into the ward, then hurried off to settle the bill.
The money Sophia had sent to Caroline happened to cover the cost of the surgery.
Back in the ward, Caroline looked at the headmistress's pale sleeping face, leaning over the bed with her frail shoulders trembling slightly.
The variety show was about to start filming. Caroline gave some instructions to the nurse and then hurried off to the filming location.
The first episode had a total of eight participants, none of them with significant status, but two were slightly famous, and two had some online presence.
As they sat together and introduced themselves, upon learning that Caroline was a renowned violinist from overseas, some looked at her with admiration.
But there were also those who showed disdain.
Caroline didn't pay much attention to it.
The staff came over to distribute the schedule.
This variety show focused on extreme challenges and pranks for comedic effect. Caroline was not afraid, having engaged in extreme sports before.
After successfully recording the first episode, Caroline rushed back to the hospital to take care of the headmistress.
Sophia had been suffering from insomnia for almost a month now, crying almost every day.
Vincent gave her a pill every day, but she still couldn't sleep. It seemed like her body had become immune to the medication.
Sophia had tried various methods to fall asleep, but nothing worked. While combing her hair, she noticed a significant amount of hair falling out.
Looking at her once thick hair now significantly reduced, Sophia forced a smile.
Sophia wandered outside the kindergarten, attempting to climb the high walls, nearly getting mistaken for a troublemaker.
She went to the Lancaster family, but the gates were tightly shut, with the guard being meticulous.
Margaret asked if Sophia was feeling better, but Sophia couldn't utter a word.
In her current state, Sophia was unable to participate in the finals, but she didn't want to disappoint Margaret.
Vincent hesitated while holding a bottle of medicine. "Should I continue bringing it to you every day?" he asked.
Sophia replied, "You're already so busy every day, bringing me the medicine is tiring for you. I'll take a few extra doses home so you don't have to make as many trips."
Vincent furrowed his brow with concern.
Feeling uneasy, he said, "Remember, you can only take one pill at a time. Taking more than that can be harmful."
Sophia stubbornly said, "I know, it's not my first time taking it. Don't worry, once I adjust my condition, I won't need medication to fall asleep."
Despite his lingering concerns, Vincent handed the medicine to Sophia.
At the Lancaster family, Madam's cold had finally improved. She was outside getting some fresh air, while Emma read stories to her.
Emma asked, "Madam, even tadpoles can find their mothers. Why can't I find mine?"
Tears welled up in Emma's eyes.
Feeling a pang of heartache, Madam hugged the little one, saying, "I has a way to help you see your mother."
