Chapter 154: Make Him Pay

Emma was surprised, her mommy was drinking with the bad daddy?
Humph, it must be the bad daddy who made mommy drink so much.
The bad daddy was too bad.
Emma silently cursed the bad daddy in her heart.

Suddenly, Gabriel sneezed for no reason. He had just received a call from Alex, saying that Tiffany was fine now. Since it was already late, he decided to go straight back to the old mansion.

The next day, Sophia woke up with a splitting headache and opened her eyes to the worried pair of adorable eyes.

"Mommy, you're awake."

"Mommy, are you feeling unwell?"

"Mommy, do you have a headache?"

"Mommy, are you thirsty?"

The two little cuties sat by the bedside, showing concern, while Sophia held one in each arm.

"Mommy is not feeling unwell. Mommy is fine..."

Sophia reassured the two children and sent them off to the school bus before returning to get ready for work.

"Sophia, how did you get so drunk last night?"

Sophia frowned, "I didn't drink much at all. I don't even remember why I blacked out. By the way, how did I get back last night?"

"Gabriel brought you back."

Why would it be Gabriel?
Her last memory was in Randall's car. She clearly got into Randall's car, and after that, she felt too dizzy and fell asleep. She remembered Randall saying he would wake her up when they arrived.

At that time, she didn't know why, but she fell asleep feeling at ease.
Sophia's heart sank, and a bad thought immediately crossed her mind.
Caroline noticed her changing expression.

"What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, I have to go to the office." Sophia hurriedly grabbed her car keys and bag and rushed out the door.

Caroline anxiously watched her leave.
She couldn't help but wonder if something happened to Sophia last night.
Can a woman get completely intoxicated and not have anything happen?

Last night, Gabriel didn't seem like he had done anything to Sophia.
Besides, Sophia had mentioned that Gabriel didn't like her, and he already had a girlfriend.
She hoped that nothing had happened last night.

Sophia was absent-minded at work today. She repeatedly checked her body for any signs of something unusual, but she couldn't understand why Gabriel ended up being the one to take her back home.

She vaguely remembered having a dream, a dream about Gabriel.
She and Gabriel were sitting in a car, and he seemed to care a lot about her. Then she felt that his care came too late, so she got angry and slapped him twice, and even kicked him with her foot...

Could it be that all of this wasn't a dream? That it was real?

Sophia touched the back of her head.

"Ouch..."

The swollen bump hurt when she pressed it.
It was true!
She really did hit Gabriel.
How annoying!

If she had known, she would have slapped him more.
But how did she end up in Gabriel's car?
This mystery, only Gabriel probably knew.
Should she go find him and ask?

Before Sophia could decide whether or not to look for Gabriel, he sent her a message.
A blood test report.

Sophia replied, "What does this mean?"

Gabriel responded, "From the test results, it seems that you weren't drugged. Randall must have used something else to make you lose consciousness. Think carefully about anything unusual that happened after you got in the car."

Sophia stared at Gabriel's message for a long time.

He meant that her blackout at the end was not due to drunkenness, but because of something Randall did?

The thought in Sophia's mind was being confirmed, and she immediately broke out into a cold sweat.

Thinking back carefully, Randall gave her a bottle of water. She opened it herself, and the cap was sealed well, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Moreover, the blood test report proved that she wasn't drugged.
Randall never had any physical contact with her.
Then what could it be?

No matter how much Sophia thought, she couldn't figure it out. Randall must have used the car's air freshener.

After special treatment, the scent of the air freshener was similar to the smell of the air conditioning. So, when Sophia got into the car, she didn't feel anything unusual about the scent inside.

In addition, this fragrance itself had a calming effect, making most people feel focused and tranquil. But for someone who was already slightly intoxicated, smelling this fragrance would easily lower their guard. And when the mind relaxed, it became even more susceptible to the numbing effect of alcohol.

That's why she later fell asleep unknowingly, and even when she woke up briefly, she thought that she was just dreaming while being intoxicated.

After about ten minutes or so, Sophia finally edited the text and sent it over.

"Where did you find me last night?"

Gabriel replied fairly quickly, "In a hotel."

Sophia bit her lower lip, her fingertips trembling slightly. Finally, she typed two words: "Thank you."

Last night, Gabriel must have saved her in time. She didn't need to dwell on the details of what happened; she didn't need to know that clearly.

If Gabriel hadn't shown up in time, she would have woken up in the hotel room this morning, maybe with a middle-aged man lying next to her without any clothes on.

Thinking about the possible consequences, Sophia shuddered all over, feeling extremely frightened.

As Gabriel looked at the two words displayed on his phone, a slight smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.
Even through the screen, he could feel that Sophia was genuinely thanking him.
This woman also has her moments of softness.

"Mr. Lancaster," Harrison walked in with a cold face, "That cunning fox Randall is too careful in his work. We can't find any evidence now."

Sophia did indeed have some drinks, and Randall swears that he was just kindly taking her to the hotel to rest. He was about to leave when Harrison barged in and attacked him, accusing him of having ill intentions toward Sophia.

Randall turned the tables and bit back at Harrison.

He was so enraged he wanted to give Randall another beating.

Gabriel spoke calmly, "I had Alex inform the hotel staff, there won't be any evidence of you hitting someone, especially not Randall."

"So, we're just letting Randall go like this?"

Harrison gave Gabriel a meaningful glance.
Didn’t this guy want to stand up for Sophia?

"Letting him go?" Gabriel chuckled as if hearing a joke, "When did those two words appear in my dictionary?"

Harrison wore an expression of understanding on his face. If they couldn't do anything to Randall in this matter, they could always find another way to make him pay.

He smirked in an instant.

"Hmm, you're pretty good to your ex-wife."

Gabriel glared at him coldly, "She's a skilled technician in the company, and I'm her boss. In a situation like this, of course, I stand by my employee. You're not unaware of how protective I am."

"Right, right, you're protective," Harrison didn't believe his words at all. How could a boss protect all of his thousands of employees?

Gabriel couldn't be bothered to argue with him.

As for Randall reporting Harrison, it would naturally be dealt with by the lawyers. Randall had hoped to use the media to bring trouble to the Lancaster Group, but little did he know that Gabriel had already anticipated his every move. No matter what tricks he tried, the Lancasters always defused them in the end.
