Chapter 615 Very Angry
Josie saw Linda about to burst into tears and heard her words, which left Josie scratching her head.
Josie thought, 'Why's everyone acting so weird? I miss my mom.'
"I'm your grandma, your real grandma."
Daniel walked over too. "Josie, I'm your grandpa. From now on, call me grandpa."
Josie's eyes went wide with panic.
"Josie," Caroline showed up at the ward door and called out softly.
"Mom." Josie called out, wanting to run to her.
Linda froze up, panicking for a sec. She forgot to put Josie down until Paul came over to help.
Paul set Josie down, and she bolted to Caroline, grabbing her hand.
Caroline's eyes were soft as she squeezed Josie's little chubby hand, then turned to go inside.
"Caroline." Daniel called out.
Caroline stopped in her tracks.
Daniel swallowed and said gently, "I'm getting discharged tomorrow."
Caroline replied, "That's good to hear, Mr. Wolf."
Daniel sighed inwardly, 'Will she ever call me "Dad"?'
"Caroline, you're our daughter. No matter what, we won't let you be alone anymore. From now on, you have family, parents, and a brother. If... if anyone messes with you, you can come to us. We got your back."
Caroline turned her head and looked deeply at Daniel and Linda.
That look made Linda's heart ache again.
She lowered her head, not daring to meet Caroline's eyes.
Caroline said nothing, took Josie into the ward, and closed the door.
Daniel lowered his head in disappointment.
A wave of sorrow washed over Clayton.
Paul looked at the three of them and got why Caroline didn't want to acknowledge them. If it were him, he wouldn't be happy either.
"I'm going in too." After greeting them, Paul also entered Lisa's ward.
The door closed, and Linda leaned on Daniel, sobbing again. Clayton also lowered his head in silence.
Inside the ward, Josie was munching on an apple and asked Caroline.
"Mom, are they really my grandparents?"
'My old grandparents were mean; I didn't like them. I like Daniel and Linda more, but I hardly see them,' Josie thought.
Caroline paused for a few seconds.
"Yeah, it's true. They are your real grandparents."
Josie's eyes widened in surprise.
"Josie, are you happy to have grandparents?" Caroline asked.
"Yeah, I'm happy. Now both Mom and I have more people who care about us." Josie rubbed Caroline's arm.
Caroline felt a twinge of bitterness.
She didn't want to go back to the Wolfs, but she wouldn't hide from Josie that she had grandparents and an uncle.
Her feelings towards the Wolfs were getting more complicated. Because of Daisy and Mia, she still disliked the Wolfs, but because of Daniel, she felt a pull to get closer to him.
Daniel got hurt this time while looking for her. Nicholas said Daniel never stopped searching for her, even losing many beneficial deals for the Wolf Group.
Daniel had spent decades of effort, manpower, and money searching for Caroline.
As for Linda, Caroline felt even more complicated, to the point of frustration.
Linda's blame, the slap she gave, and her disbelief upon learning the truth—all of it was still fresh in her mind.
Linda barged into Daniel's ward, ready to pack up her stuff.
Daniel saw her and asked, "What are you doing?"
"I'm heading home."
Linda, with her bag slung over her shoulder, looked like she was about to catch a flight.
Daniel grabbed her arm. "Why are you going home?"
"To settle a score!"
Linda shook off Daniel's hand and stormed out.
Daniel wanted to chase after her, but he was stuck in his hospital gown. He yelled at Clayton, who was still standing there, dumbfounded. "Go after your mom! Make sure she's okay!"
"Okay." Clayton bolted after her.
Linda drove with a stern face, flooring it. Clayton, in the passenger seat, was freaking out and kept shouting.
"Mom, slow down, slow down."
Linda snapped, "Shut up!"
Soon, the car screeched to a halt in front of Michael's house.
Clayton thought they were going home, but nope, they were at Michael's place.
Linda jumped out of the car.
"Mia, get out here!"
Linda stormed into the villa in her high heels, and the servants didn't dare stop her, knowing she was a regular visitor.
Clayton didn't have time to feel nauseous and quickly followed her.
"Mom, Mom, what are you doing?"
Linda shook off Clayton's hand.
Mia was chilling in the living room, munching on something. Seeing Linda, she got up with a smile.
"Linda, what brings you here? How's Daniel? Is he feeling better?"
Mia looked all concerned.
Linda walked up and slapped her hard.
"Mia, why would you do this to us? Why did you want to kill Daniel!"
Mia was stunned by the slap, and Clayton was also shocked, thinking, 'Linda is so fierce!'
"Linda, I don't get what you're saying. How could I possibly harm Daniel? I said at the hospital it was a misunderstanding." Mia explained, looking all innocent.
Linda retorted, "Stop hiding. Ivan already admitted to taking your money. You did this to stop Daniel from finding Caroline. Mia, all these years, I never saw your true colors."
In the past few days at the hospital, Linda had thought a lot and pieced it together. Ever since Diana came back, Mia had been extra nosy about their family affairs and had been hanging around more than usual.
Linda hadn't paid much attention to it, thinking their relationship was solid, so she never suspected Mia's intentions.
Looking back, she realized Mia was, like, a total snake.
Linda gritted her teeth. "Did you know all along that Caroline was my biological daughter, so you slandered her in front of me?"
"Who knows how many times you've bullied Caroline behind my back!"
Thinking about the conflicts between Daisy and Caroline, Linda had always sided with Daisy. She never thought the one who needed her protection the most was her biological daughter, Caroline.
Linda felt both heartbroken and furious. She could no longer hold back her rage. Usually a dignified and elegant lady, she now acted like a wildcat. She grabbed Mia's hair and slapped her face twice.
"These two slaps are for Caroline. From now on, if you dare to harm her again, it won't just be two slaps. I'll make sure you lose everything!"
Mia, enraged, wanted to fight back. But Linda, a classy lady, was surprisingly strong. When she let go of Mia's hair, a handful of it fell to the ground.
