Chapter 354 Captured
"Gabriel, today you..." Harrison scrutinized him closely. "You didn't get back together with Sophia, did you?"
Gabriel shook his head.
"Then, did you get back together with Tiffany?"
Gabriel gave him a cold stare.
"If it's neither, then what could possibly make you so happy?" Harrison added.
"Sophia, she likes flowers," Gabriel replied.
Harrison fell silent.
He didn't understand.
Around ten in the morning, Harrison accompanied a client to play golf.
Harrison, tired from playing, lay down to rest.
The client was flirting with a beautiful woman, and Harrison, bored, scrolled through TikTok on his phone.
Suddenly, he came across news about Noah.
#Recently, a Passerby Spotted Noah Spending the Night at a Hotel With a Man.#
Harrison thought, 'Did Noah have a boyfriend?'
'Let me see what he looks like.'
Harrison searched for Noah and saw various marketing accounts trying to identify the man who spent the night at the hotel with Noah, finding several male celebrities who had worked with Noah.
"None of them are as good-looking as me."
Just as Harrison was about to put his phone away, a news alert popped up.
#Noah Fell From a Height on Set, Condition Unknown#
At B Hospital, Caroline watched as Lisa entered the operating room. She sat outside, waiting.
The professor returned to the country the day before yesterday and, after further examination of Lisa yesterday, determined the surgical plan. The surgery began today.
It seemed that ever since Paul appeared, all her difficulties had been resolved.
Paul was also present at this moment.
He yawned twice.
He had stayed up late last night and was woken up early by the alarm today.
Today was the day of Lisa's surgery. Nicholas had stubbornly refused to come, so Paul had to take his place.
"Caroline, don't worry. This professor is very skilled; it will definitely be a success."
Caroline nervously clutched her phone, her eyes fixed on the door of the operating room.
Paul leaned back in his chair and dozed off.
Her phone buzzed, and Caroline opened it to see a bank transfer notification.
Then, a message from the producer came through.
The producer: [Your payment has been made. Please tell your patron to leave our show alone. We're just a small production and can't afford the trouble.]
'Patron?'
'I don't have a patron.'
From the producer's words, Caroline sensed something unusual.
She glanced at Paul.
'Could it be that Paul had asked Nicholas to do it?'
She was acutely aware of Paul's aptitudes; he merely epitomized a libertine. He lacked the influence to exert pressure on the producer, hence the responsibility must have rested with Nicholas.
Caroline didn't reply and directly blocked the producer.
Time ticked by.
An hour later, two police officers approached.
"Is Caroline here? Who is Caroline?"
Caroline snapped out of her daze and slowly stood up. "I am Caroline."
The officers walked over and said, "Someone reported that you assaulted them. Please come with us."
"Who said that?" Caroline was stunned.
"Please come to the police station with us. We need to understand the situation."
Paul opened his sleepy eyes and groggily saw two men in police uniforms talking to Caroline. He jolted awake.
"What are you going to do to Caroline?"
Paul jumped in front of Caroline, shielding her.
"Ms. Clark, please cooperate. If you didn't assault anyone, we will investigate and clear your name."
"No, explain it right here. What's going on? What assault?" Paul was anxious.
Having been the police station previously, entering it was bound to unsettle him. Caroline, possessing sensitive skin, was unlikely to withstand such an ordeal.
"Sir, you are obstructing official duties."
"You need to explain clearly," Paul said, tightly protecting Caroline.
The police reached out to grab Caroline.
"What are you doing? Trying to hit someone?" Paul immediately grabbed the officer's hand to stop them.
"Are you trying to assault an officer? Be careful, or I'll arrest you too."
Lisa's surgery wasn't finished yet. If Caroline was taken to the police station now, what would happen to Lisa?
Paul refused to let the police take Caroline away, almost getting into a fight.
"Paul!" Caroline grabbed Paul's arm. "Don't be impulsive."
Caroline looked at the operating room and then at the police and slowly said, "Could you hold on a sec? My mom's in surgery. Can I stick around till it's done? I'll work with you."
"Alright."
Caroline held onto Paul, and the two officers patiently sat down to wait.
Finally, the door to the operating room opened.
The professor walked out.
"The surgery went well, but she needs a day in the ICU for observation. If her vitals stay steady, she can shift to a standard ward."
"Thank you!" Caroline covered her mouth in joy, holding back tears.
Paul watched helplessly as the police took Caroline away. He urgently called Nicholas.
At the Watson family, Daisy received a call and eagerly asked, "Was she captured?"
"Yes, she was."
"That's Good. I'll send my injury report to the police and tell them I won't accept a private settlement."
After hanging up, Daisy went downstairs in a good mood.
Nicholas' parents and Ashley had gone out, and Daisy bored at home alone, decided to return to the Wolf family.
Upon returning, she noticed her mother's unhappy expression.
"Mom, did something happen?"
"It's your father. He lost a big contract and threw a huge tantrum at home last night because Daniel scolded him."
Daisy didn't like Michael because he was incompetent and had a bad temper.
In contrast, Daniel was good-tempered, capable, and treated her very well, much better than Michael.
Moreover, Daniel was the wealthiest and most powerful in the Wolf family.
Daisy's mother, Mia Wolf, felt aggrieved just thinking about it.
Mia continued, "Your dad's under Daniel, who's always on his case. Bonuses took a hit this year, and those year-end dividends? Not looking too good for him."
"It's all your grandfather's fault. He was too biased, giving the entire company to Daniel and only making your father a small manager."
"What use is that manager? No authority, no cash, can't even splurge on a couple of designer outfits for us.."
"But Uncle is very generous. He gives me and my brother a lot of pocket money every year and even sent my brother to study abroad." Daisy didn't think Daniel was bad.
Because she was the only girl in the Wolf family, everyone doted on her.
In Daisy's mind, Daniel was more important than Michael.
"Besides, we all have shares in the Wolf Group, and we get a good amount of dividends every year."
Before her grandfather passed away, he worried that Michael would feel unbalanced. Although he made Daniel the head of the Wolf family, he evenly distributed the shares among all the grandchildren.
Even Mia and Linda had some shares.
Therefore, Mia wasn't short of money; she was just unsatisfied.
