Chapter 261: Memories Flood Back

"Was that you screaming just now?"

It turned out someone outside had heard the commotion and came to check.

Sophia put on a terrified expression: "I just saw a rat, it scared me to death."

"A rat? A rat?"

How could there be rats in the executive offices!

If the boss knew, they'd all be done for!

The person rushed back to immediately contact the maintenance staff to clean up and exterminate the rats from top to bottom.

But they were doomed not to find the rat because the rat - Tiffany had already run away.

Tiffany nearly tumbled down the stairs, and she sat on the ground, cheeks swollen, fingers marked across them, her hair a mess, with two dusty footprints on her black dress.

Her tears streamed down as she sat dazed, her mind exploding with memories flooding back, causing her a tremendous headache until she finally passed out.

Half an hour later, the cleaning staff came to do their work and discovered her.

Tiffany was taken to the hospital, and the news traveled up the chain to Alex.

Alex thought it over and decided to report to the boss.

"Boss, someone found Miss Foster passed out in the stairwell on the tenth floor."

Gabriel looked up: "Did they take her to the hospital?"
"The patient is already in the hospital."

"What did the doctor say?"

"Miss Foster was attacked."

Gabriel frowned.

"Who did it?"

"Miss Foster said it was Miss Kelly."

Sophia hitting Tiffany?

Alex carefully watched his boss's expression.

Would the boss side with his ex-wife or his former girlfriend? He should probably side with his ex-wife; he clearly favored her.

But why would Miss Kelly hit Miss Foster? A love-hate relationship, perhaps?

"You go to the hospital for me, and tell Tiffany to take a few days off before she comes back to work."

"Yes!"

"Wait."

Alex came back.

Gabriel spoke sternly, "Have the security office delete all the surveillance footage from the stairwell during that time frame."

Alex nodded, "Yes."

It seemed Miss Kelly held a special place in the boss's heart.

True enough, after the visit to the hospital, Tiffany was crying and wanted to sue Sophia for intentional assault. Alex pretended to make a phone call to the company and then came back to inform Tiffany.

"The security personnel said the surveillance footage has been overwritten. If you want to sue Sophia, I'm afraid there won't be any evidence."

Tiffany was so upset that it felt like her heart and lungs were aching. She lay on the bed, sobbing hard.

"I don't know what I did in the past to offend Miss Kelly to the point that she slapped me twice and kicked me three times, I... If I did ever wrong her, I would apologize."

Alex stood silently to the side, like a robot, as Tiffany's laments went in one ear and out the other.

When she was done crying, Alex continued with Gabriel's message.

"The boss wants you to take a few days off before returning to work."

Tiffany was still sniffing, "I understand, thank you, Alex."

Alex responded, "Rest up, and you can handle the discharge paperwork tomorrow."

"Okay."

Tiffany obediently lay down to sleep, and Alex left the hospital.

As soon as he left, Tiffany opened her eyes, her gaze devoid of the innocence and aggrieved shine she had before, replaced by a ruthless gleam.

She took out her phone and smoothly logged in to an account, then surveillance footage played on her phone.

The footage was from a kindergarten that three children attended.

Ethan, Emma, and Sam were each holding an iPad, engrossed in a game. They were left to play occasionally, as the kindergarten teachers didn't dare to interfere because all three iPads were brought by Lancaster, Sam's young master.

"Sam, quick, go around to the right."
"Ethan, sneak up on them from behind," Emma commanded, and then they won!

"Yay, we did it again!" Emma high-fived Sam and Ethan in celebration.

Sam picked up a pack of seaweed snacks and offered it to Emma.

Ethan grabbed it away, "Emma, you can't eat anymore."

Emma pouted unhappily, "But I want some."

Sam doted on her, "Let her have some."

"Mom said you've been overheating lately, no snacks for today," Ethan stated as he clutched all the snacks in his arms.

"Annoying Ethan, stop bossing me around, I'll eat if I want to!" Emma lunged at him with a playfully threatening gesture.

Ethan quickly ran away, with Emma chasing after him, followed closely by Sam.

Tiffany stared at her phone in shock.

Had she just seen Sam's mouth move?

Yes!

It moved!

Sam could talk!

She gripped the blanket tightly, her mind reeling.

Sam was happier than ever these days. He loved this new way of life.

Every other day, he would stay with Mom and Ethan and Emma. Sometimes, when Dad wasn't home, Ethan and Emma would join him and visit their great-grandmother.

After Emma got lost in the woods previously, Madam had considered having the trees all chopped down, but Betty talked her out of it.

Gabriel also recognized the potential danger. What if Emma came to play and got lost in the woods again?

So Gabriel hired a professional team to enter the woods. They created signs to help prevent anyone from getting lost and installed lights within a manageable area to reduce the chances of anyone getting lost at night.

Madam eventually understood that Emma was a game streamer, and that Gabriel knew streamer Emma, not their daughter Emma.

Now, Madam had become one of the little fans in the streaming room, always asking Emma when her next stream would be. When Emma came to the old mansion, Madam would urge her to stream so she could send gifts - planes, rockets, mansions - she wanted to give Emma everything.

Thus, everyone discovered that Emma had gained another wealthy fan.

The fans exclaimed, "Our Emma really knows how to attract wealth."

...

The semifinal results were out, and Sophia was the first to check the announcement, feeling a bit nervous.

This was her first major fashion competition since returning to the country, and it was quite important to her.

Especially since one of the judges was Mrs. Arya.

If she stood out, perhaps Mrs. Arya would take notice of her.

"Huh, why isn't Sophia on the advancement list?"

The voices of Kathy and Caroline carried over, filled with surprise.
Sophia and Kathy sat two seats apart, with Sophia making sure her voice was loud enough for several people around them to overhear.

Sophia read the list a second time, still no trace of her name.
She had been cut!
Sophia felt a deep sense of loss.
She sat in her seat, stunned and disoriented.

"Lady Sophia, don't lose heart," said Larry, the junior colleague, coming over to offer some consolation. "After all, there are so many talented designers out there. The competition is tough, and it's normal to be eliminated. If I had entered, I probably wouldn't have made it past the first round."

Kathy lowered her head, struggling to suppress a laugh.
In the company, Sophia had always overshadowed her, and despite some opposition, she had been recommended by the higher-ups to join the competition. This had nearly led to five designers quitting, causing quite a stir.

And now this?
Sophia's face was utterly lost in shame!
If Kathy had delivered such results, she would have been too embarrassed to stay at the company.
This outcome left those who were previously unconvinced feeling smug.
