Chapter 572 Just One-Tenth of the Property
The word on the street was that the Blackwood Group was making a comeback to the country, and every industry bigwig was all ears.
Thanks to Gabriel, David had already snagged a building for their new office, and guess what? It was the revamped old spot of the Kelly Group.
Logan, looking like he just rolled out of a dumpster, was chilling in a tiny park near the building, clutching a financial newspaper. His eyes were bloodshot as he read about the Blackwood Group, and man, was he pissed.
The Brown Villa had been snatched back to pay off debts, and the company was totally shut down. Logan was living on the run, always one step ahead of the debt collectors.
His old buddies? Yeah, they weren't picking up his calls anymore.
Luckily, Patricia got some help from a kind soul and managed to rent a place, so they weren't out on the streets.
But those glory days? Long gone.
Logan was still keeping tabs on industry trends, dreaming of a comeback.
But with the Blackwood Group back in the game, even if Logan managed to rebuild, they'd squash him like a bug.
So, he had to figure out a way to take down the Blackwood Group.
Through Tiffany, Patricia got into live streaming.
But she was used to living the high life and couldn't stand the trolls and haters in her streams. Eventually, she lost it and blew up on a live stream.
Her already struggling channel became a ghost town.
Tiffany was fuming, seeing Patricia still acting all high and mighty despite her fall from grace.
"Miss Brown, how are you gonna get revenge like this?" Tiffany handed Patricia a glass of water.
Patricia was fuming. "But those people..."
Tiffany cut her off, "For the money, let them talk. Without cash, you won't even get close to Sophia."
"Sophia's living it up in high-end places, hanging with socialites and rich ladies."
"That used to be your life, and now it's all Sophia's."
Tiffany's words lit a fire under Patricia.
She clenched her fist. "I gotta put Sophia back in her place! I'll do the live streaming!"
Patricia's streams got better after that. At least she didn't lose her cool and started engaging with her fans.
With Tiffany's help, Patricia soon got her first paycheck.
She came home all excited, only to find Logan hitting the bottle again, which freaked her out a bit.
Logan, with his red eyes, looked at Patricia.
"Patricia, you're back. Come here."
Patricia hesitated.
The last time, he had broken her bone, and it hadn't fully healed yet.
"I won't hit you again. I know I messed up."
Logan didn't seem drunk, so Patricia cautiously walked over.
"I wanna rebuild the business and start fresh, but I need cash. Can you..."
Patricia got the hint.
She knew starting a business needed money, and Logan, who had run the family biz before, had the chops. It was just the Blackwoods that tanked the Brown Group.
'What if Logan could rebuild and make it big again?'
Then she could be rolling in dough again and save her mom, Ella.
With that thought, Patricia eagerly started plotting with Logan on how to rebuild the family business.
"But Dad, if the Blackwoods find out what we're up to, won't they..." Patricia said, all worried.
Logan tried to calm her down, "Don't sweat it. I've got a killer plan. When the time comes, the Blackwoods will be too swamped to even notice us."
"What plan?"
Logan paused for a moment. Since he had to rely on Patricia to rake in the cash now, he pulled out his phone to show her.
While Logan and Patricia were plotting their comeback, Sophia was busy making her own moves.
Dylan finally decided to divorce Katherine, leaving with nothing. He handed over all his properties, cars, and savings to Katherine.
Plus, until their daughter graduated from college, Dylan had to fork over a set amount of child support every month.
Katherine, happy with the deal, stopped causing trouble and signed the divorce papers with Dylan.
Right after getting the divorce certificate, Dylan couldn't wait to marry Marlowe.
Katherine invited Sophia out and had already downed a bottle of wine.
Sophia said, "Katherine, take it easy on the booze. Your two daughters are still waiting for you at home."
Mentioning her daughters brought tears to Katherine's eyes again.
"I still can't bear to tell them what kind of person their most admired father is."
Sophia, also a mom, got it. If her husband cheated, she wouldn't want to shatter her kids' image of their dad either.
Kids' worlds are pure; they should grow up happy.
"Katherine, do you know how much Marlowe's beauty salon rakes in a year?"
Katherine didn't know the exact amount, but she knew it had to be a lot, or Marlowe wouldn't have opened so many branches.
"Even though you got all the marital assets, Dylan's biggest wealth is in the beauty salon."
Katherine's breathing got heavier, and she stared at Sophia with wide eyes.
Sophia continued, "Dylan's shares are under Marlowe's name. He bought a ton of properties for Marlowe, and also..."
Sophia spilled everything she had found out.
Dylan had seen this day coming, so the money he brought home was just his salary as a bodyguard captain.
All other income went to Marlowe.
Katherine's chest heaved more and more violently. She was filled with rage.
So she had only fought for a tenth of the assets for her daughters.
The more Katherine thought about it, the more she felt the divorce was too hasty. She had been too impulsive.
Sophia tried to comfort her, "Don't regret it. Leaving a guy like Dylan sooner is also good for you."
"If you really can't let it go, I've got some info here."
Sophia handed a stack of documents to Katherine.
Katherine looked through them, her expression becoming more determined.
"With this info, their beauty salon will definitely go under." Katherine's voice was filled with joy.
Sophia, however, said seriously, "Katherine, I gave you this info because I want you to bring down their beauty salon. But actually, I could do it myself."
Katherine was stunned.
Sophia added, "I've got some beef with one of the shareholders of this beauty salon. To avoid being found out, I need you to do this. This way, it'll destroy the trust among all their shareholders and keep them from ganging up on us."
Katherine got it.
She finally realized why Sophia was so willing to help her.
Katherine lowered her head, thought for a moment, and then nodded firmly.
"I know what to do. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret."
