Chapter 160: Unscrupulous
Godmother is crying!
What happened to her ?
Emma wanted to ask, but she was afraid of bringing up Godmother's sadness and making her even more upset, so she walked anxiously in place.
Caroline thought that Emma was worried about the unsuccessful hair exchange and cursed the couple in her heart. If it weren't for them, she would have successfully handled this important matter for her .
"I will think of another solution for this matter."
"There's no other way, Godmother." Emma knew how rigorous this organization was, and it was impossible for her to intervene again.
Caroline felt truly guilty. She should have left immediately and ignored them.
"It's alright, Godmother. I will find a solution." Emma comforted Caroline in a warm-hearted manner.
"I'm sorry..."
"Let's go eat together." Emma grabbed Caroline's hand; her smile radiant.
Caroline's self-blame was healed by Emma's smile.
She knew that the hair exchange had failed, and she worried with Emma. Would their identities be exposed this time?
The two little ones were already prepared for the worst.
Sam had a sense that they had a secret, but he was afraid to ask. He felt extremely frustrated.
In the afternoon, Caroline, having sorted out her mood, went to teach violin. She discovered that Josie was absent, so she asked the teacher in charge and learned that Josie had taken sick leave.
Betty returned, and Madam immediately grabbed her and asked.
"How did it go?"
Betty took off her cotton gloves. "The doctor said it will take three days for the results."
Madam was dissatisfied. It was too slow.
"Didn't they say the results can be obtained in eight hours?"
"The doctor said three days would ensure greater accuracy."
Fine, she would wait!
While Madam eagerly awaited the results, Emma was worried about the outcome.
Upon returning home, Sam also sensed that Grandma had a secret.
The little one went to his art studio and angrily painted a picture.
Hmph, everyone had secrets and wouldn’t tell him.
...
The company had officially announced that Sophia would represent Lancaster in the competition.
As she had expected, there were indeed many people who were dissatisfied and made sarcastic remarks, both openly and in secret. Sophia could only pretend that she hadn't heard or seen anything.
"Sophia , congratulations to you for being chosen to represent the company in the national fashion competition." Kathy Caroline met Sophia in the pantry and spoke with a sarcastic tone.
Sophia smiled lightly, "Thank you."
Kathy snorted and left with her coffee.
What is Sophia anyway? She’s only just joined.
A few months in the company and she could represent the company in a competition! She was not convinced! When Sophia first entered, her position was as low as dust.
If it weren't for her carelessness, she wouldn't have become a senior designer so quickly, being manipulated and used as a stepping stone.
Kathy became more and more annoyed. She couldn't pretend to be friendly anymore. Why should she!
"Oh, isn't this Sophia , the great designer? Representing the company in a competition, you better perform well and not embarrass the company," Fiona said.
Ever since the incident in the cafeteria where Sophia had overwhelmed her, Fiona stopped trying to please her.
Sophia finally had some peace, but as soon as the news had spread, Fiona started causing trouble again.
"Don't worry, I won't be like you, always maintaining a thick-skinned face," Sophia replied.
"You're the one with the thick skin."
Sophia held the hot coffee, pretending to throw it at Fiona, who screamed and ran out of the pantry. Everyone looked over, and Fiona's face turned red. She awkwardly lowered her head and returned to her seat.
Margaret had overheard the commotion in the office and frowned, shaking her head. This Fiona... Margaret had given her a low rating in her year-end performance review.
The preliminary round had already begun, and Sophia submitted her most satisfactory design. However, the results wouldn't be out until a month later, just in time for the Chinese New Year.
Most likely, the results would be delayed until after the holiday. During this period, Sophia wasn't very busy, so she had some time to supervise Larry.
Larry was secretly watching a game playback video of Milk Sugar. Sophia walked behind him without noticing until Charlotte pulled on his clothes.
"What's up?" Larry pushed away Charlotte's hand.
"Larry, my dear."
Sophia's eerie voice scared Larry, almost causing him to drop his phone.
"S-Sophia, ."
Sophia tapped his forehead. "Where is your design draft? You haven't given it to me yet."
"I've already finished it. Here it is."
Larry quickly took out his design draft.
Sophia looked at it and felt annoyed. This guy was slacking off, but the design was not bad.
"Whose livestream were you watching just now?"
"Milk Sugar, so sweet! She's a game streamer." Larry quickly explained, trying to please her.
"Oh."
This time, Larry was watching a playback of Emma's livestream, so Sophia only saw the game interface and didn't see the person or hear any voices.
"Do you know about the Ning Era Psychological Counseling Center?"
Larry thought for a moment. "I've heard of it, but I don't know much about it."
Ning Era, hmmm.
As soon as she saw the name, she knew that it was Tiffany's counseling room, deliberately named after her and Gabriel.
"I've heard of it," Charlotte turned her chair around. "My cousin's child has some psychological issues and goes there for treatment."
"How is it?" Sophia asked.
"Do you have any psychological problems?" Charlotte asked, concerned.
"I have a friend who suffers from depression."
"In that case, I advise you not to go to Ning Shi Dai."
"Huh?"
"Last year, a patient with depression went there for treatment, but not only did their condition not improve, it worsened. In the end, they jumped off Ning Shi Dai's rooftop."
"Huh?" Sophia felt there was more to Charlotte's words.
Depression cannot be cured, and it's not something extraordinary. Some people have special circumstances that cannot be easily treated.
Many spend their whole lives without a cure. But jumping off Ning Shi Dai's rooftop seems odd.
Larry, with his gossiping mind, leaned in and asked, "Is there something hidden behind this?"
Charlotte said, "Yes."
She took a breath, and for half a minute, she didn't reveal any hidden information, which made Larry anxious.
"Come on, tell us."
"I heard from my cousin. It seems that the girl was violated during her treatment at Ning Shi Dai, which exacerbated her depression and led her to jump off the rooftop."
Larry looked shocked and pained. "That's despicable, so damn despicable."
Charlotte's face changed, and she cautiously said, "I don't know the truth of this matter, but after that incident, my cousin never went there again."
Sophia smiled and replied, "Thank you for telling me all this. I'll make sure my friend stays away. With so many psychologists in the city, they'll definitely find an excellent doctor."
Charlotte surprised Sophia. She had searched for a long time but hadn't found any records of such an incident at Tiffany's counseling room.
It seemed to have been suppressed at the time. Maybe Gabriel had something to do with it. That shit man, abetting evil for the sake of love, wishing him and Tiffany all the misery in the world.
"Achoo," Gabriel sneezed.
