Chapter 516 Hide Your Identity

Gabriel said seriously, "While looking into Patricia's background, I stumbled upon some clues about the Kelly family accident. When the Kelly family had their accident, it affected many businesses they worked with. Logically, the Brown family should've been hit too, but they weren't."

"I found out that when the Kelly family was convicted, the Brown family provided a lot of evidence against them."

Ruth burst out laughing. "The Kelly family always supported the Browns, but when the Kellys were in trouble, the Browns not only didn't help but also kicked them while they were down. Gabriel, dig into this, along with Patricia. Find out everything the Brown family has done."

"Yes, Grandma. Until we have answers, I plan to keep this from Sophie," Gabriel said.

Ruth nodded. "Yes, she's too tired. Don't let her worry about this."

After talking for over half an hour, Gabriel went upstairs and saw the light in Sophia's studio was still on.

'Is Sophia still working this late?' he thought.

He knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Gabriel opened the door.

Sophia was drawing design sketches.

"Just in time, your pajamas are ready," she said. She had been making them while at home these past few days.

Gabriel took the pajamas, holding them up with a smile. They were exactly what he liked.

"Thank you."

Sophia replied, "I should be thanking you. So much has happened, and you've always been by my side."

Gabriel's eyes softened. He placed the pajamas on a hanger and walked towards Sophia. "Sophie, I told you I'd make it up to you. It's only natural for me to be good to you. I should thank you for letting me stay by your side."

Sophia's heart raced at Gabriel's words, his sincere eyes, deep voice, perfect features, and sexy Adam's apple.

Gabriel got closer. With her back against the sewing machine, Sophia had nowhere to go and let his presence envelop her.

Sophia swallowed, "You... I..."

She wanted to say something, but her mind went blank.

Gabriel placed his hand on her waist and gently pulled her into his arms.

His lips brushed her ear, and his warm breath teased her skin. "Just go forward bravely. I'll clear the thorns on your path. But in the end, can you give me a bit of your love?"

Sophia was deeply moved. Her hands clenched and then relaxed.

Her heart wasn't made of stone. She saw all the good Gabriel had done for her, but she always felt there was a barrier between them.

In this intimate moment, Gabriel's face got closer, his gaze full of affection.

Just as they were about to kiss, the door suddenly opened. "Mommy."

Sophia was startled and quickly pushed Gabriel away.

"Emma, what's wrong?" Sophia asked, turning awkwardly, her ears turning red.

Emma rubbed her eyes. 'Did I just see Daddy and Mommy kissing? In TV shows, when the leads are in love, they kiss. Does this mean Daddy and Mommy are in love too?'

Emma's sleepiness vanished, and her nightmare fear disappeared.

Sophia hugged her. "Did you have a nightmare? It's okay, it's all fake. I'm here, I'll sleep with you."

Emma said, "I don't need Mommy to sleep with me. I'll go find Ethan and Sam."

She wanted Sophia to give her a little sister, so she couldn't interrupt her parents' kissing.

Sophia said, "Then I'll go with you."

"I'll go by myself." Emma let go of Sophia and ran to Ethan's room.

To foster independence, the three kids now slept in separate rooms. But sometimes, they would sleep with Sophia, or Sam would go to Ethan's room, or all three would squeeze into one room.

Emma woke up Ethan and Sam.

She whispered, "Ethan, Sam, I just saw Daddy and Mommy kissing."

Ethan was silent.

Sam was surprised.

After Emma left, the room's atmosphere dissipated completely. Gabriel was annoyed that such a good moment was ruined by Emma.

To ease the awkwardness, Sophia brought up another topic. "How much have you found out about whether Patricia is Celeste's granddaughter?"

After Gabriel asked her that, Sophia had thought a lot and re-evaluated what Chloe and Ella had said at the Blackwood family banquet.

At the time, she found their words full of holes but didn't pay much attention because she didn't want any more ties with the Browns. On this point, she and the Browns had almost reached a consensus.

Now thinking back, the Brown family's erratic behavior of wanting to repair their relationship with her and then distancing themselves was likely due to Patricia's background.

And these attitude changes occurred before and after the Blackwoods returned to the country.

Talking about this, Gabriel frowned. "The Browns must have done something, and since it involves the previous generation, it's hard to investigate after so long. But the Browns did something unusual."

"What did they do?" Sophia asked.

Gabriel replied, "For so many years, the Browns never visited your parents' graves. However, in the second half of last year, they went several times."

Sophia remembered running into Logan and Ella at the cemetery when she visited her parents' graves. They admitted to replacing the tombstone.

At the time, she found it strange but didn't think much of it.

Now thinking back, 'Could it be related to Patricia's background?'

Too many things flooded her mind, making Sophia a bit slow. She couldn't figure it out for a moment, as if she had tangled herself in a web of confusion.

Immersed in her thoughts, Sophia didn't notice Gabriel's gentle expression as he looked at her.

She murmured, "I suspect my parents' tombstone might have been damaged by them."

Gabriel's expression turned serious. He also remembered accompanying Sophia to visit her parents' graves and her conversation with Logan and Ella.

He said, "They damaged the tombstone and made a new one, leaving out your name. They want to hide your identity as a descendant of the Kelly family!"

A suspicion gradually formed in Gabriel's mind, but to confirm it, he needed to investigate further.

Sophia's expression slowly changed. "Why would they do that?"
