Chapter 85 Interesting Affairs
Harrison quelled the rumors within the company.
He never made advances on female employees, occasionally just exchanging a few flirtatious words with attractive subordinates.
Though the employees would gossip about his interactions with certain female colleagues, it wasn't a big deal, so he didn't bother.
This time, the rumors about him and Sophia were completely groundless, as if someone purposely spread them, exaggerating how Sophia seduced him and actively used herself to climb up the ranks.
Not to mention Sophia and Gabriel, he would get furious just by seeing them together.
Harrison put in some effort and traced the source of the rumors.
"Gabriel, these rumors originated from the clothing design department. From my understanding, there's a girl named Fiona who has some issues with Sophia."
Gabriel looked at the documents, his voice calm, "Handle this matter."
Harrison rubbed his nose, "Then we should inform and issue a warning."
A warning notice was sent to everyone's email by the administrative department.
After reading its contents, Sophia lightly frowned.
The design department fell silent for half a minute, followed by everyone whispering and discussing quietly.
And Fiona felt like the sky was about to fall.
She... was actually warned!
The notice only mentioned that she spread rumors and such, without specifying what rumors she spread.
But Fiona knew in her heart it was about Sophia and the general manager.
There were rumors about the general manager and others before, why weren't there any warnings?
Now that it involved Sophia, she gets warned?
Daring to say that Sophia has no connections!
Clearly, she and the general manager were ambiguous.
Now it seems that she wasn't wrong.
Sophia really used the general manager to climb up!
Afterward, Harrison reprimanded the managers of various departments, telling them to control their subordinates' mouths.
After dealing with all of this, Harrison approached Gabriel to claim credit.
"Perfect resolution, Gabriel. You have to treat me to lunch at noon," he had been so busy with this matter, not even resting on weekends.
Gabriel coldly glanced at him.
"You call this perfect?"
"Isn't it perfect? I think I handled it pretty well by giving them a warning, so they won't dare to spread rumors and cause trouble again."
Gabriel pinched his temples speechlessly, "Do you understand the meaning of 'to explain is to confirm the existence of something'?"
Without clarifying the situation, only suppressing it will make people believe in Sophia and Harrison's special relationship.
Harrison suddenly realized and grinned, "This is my first time dealing with such matters. I never paid attention to them before."
"Let it be, this matter ends here."
Regardless, the rumors have been suppressed.
As for the future, with time, everyone will naturally forget about it.
As long as Harrison keeps his distance from Sophia, nothing else will happen.
"By the way, when I was investigating, I found something interesting," Harrison approached with a mysterious look on his face.
Gabriel glanced at him lightly, signaling him to speak up.
"The internal rumors were spread by the design department, but who do you think spread it to those two women?" Harrison deliberately played coy.
Gabriel remained firm in his attitude, choosing not to speak and continued signing his documents.
"It was Tiffany."
Gabriel stopped midway through writing a word, paused for two or three seconds, and insisted on finishing the word.
"Gabriel, you should really reflect on why your girlfriend would spread such news. Did I provoke her, or did Sophia provoke her?"
Harrison left thought-provoking words and strolled away nonchalantly.
Sophia returned to the office after having dinner and suddenly saw an exquisite jewelry box on the table with a note underneath.
She picked it up and read it.
"Apology - Harrison."
Did he think he could brush off the harm done to her with a simple gift?
How naive!
Sophia opened the box and immediately retracted her previous words when she saw the diamond necklace inside.
Harrison was capable and generous.
This necklace must have been quite expensive.
Well, she would reluctantly let it go for the sake of money.
But she definitely needed to keep her distance from him in the future.
She didn't want to be bothered by his romantic debts anymore.
Harrison also thought of a way to avoid rumors – maintaining distance.
So, he originally planned to invite Sophia to dinner as an apology but changed his mind to discreetly gifting her something.
And the only gift he could think of was this piece of jewelry.
Sophia quickly took a photo of it and posted it for sale online.
She listed it at a discounted price of 20% off the original price and it sold immediately.
With this sudden influx of money, Sophia felt incredibly happy.
Her hair didn't seem thin anymore, and she went home after work to give her two children an extra meal.
...
Today, Gabriel took the initiative to invite Tiffany to dinner.
She was pleasantly surprised and eagerly picked Gabriel up after work.
They went to a decent Western restaurant together.
"Gabriel, why did you suddenly decide to have dinner with me today?"
She had been trying to invite him out recently, but it was always difficult.
Ever since Sam was discharged from the hospital, Gabriel would return to the old house no matter how late he worked.
It was difficult to arrange any outings.
Gabriel responded to an email on his phone and casually said, "I have time today."
He only made time for dinner with her when he had time... Tiffany couldn't express the sourness in her heart, but she didn't dare to get angry with Gabriel.
She knew how important his career was to him.
In his heart, she was probably less important than his work.
Seeing Gabriel put down his phone, Tiffany smiled gently and asked, "How is Sam doing now?"
"He's recovered."
Sam had recovered quite well.
As long as he paid attention to his diet, there were no major issues.
"What's the matter?"
"I wish I could go back to the old house. I'm very worried about him, but I can't go see him. I... guess I'm not a competent stepmother." She guiltily lowered her head, feeling extremely frustrated and ashamed for not being able to visit the old house.
Gabriel glanced at her deeply.
He thought Tiffany lacked a sense of security, which led her to scheme against Sophia being attacked.
That's why he specially took the time to invite Tiffany for dinner today.
"Next time, I'll bring Sam along to have dinner with you."
Tiffany beamed with joy, "That's great, Gabriel. Did you give Sam the medicine Alfred prescribed?"
"Sam's doing well now. Last weekend, he even brought two friends home to play. I want to observe him a bit more."
Using medication was always a last resort, and Gabriel didn't want to give Sam those drugs.
Tiffany tried hard to conceal her expression and exclaimed in surprise, "Sam made friends? Are they from kindergarten?"
"He met them at the amusement park by himself."
After they returned that day, Gabriel had asked Sam about it, and Sam had already been coached by Ethan to give consistent answers. So, Gabriel didn't suspect anything.
Tiffany asked many more questions about Sam, and it seemed that Sam's condition had indeed improved.
