Chapter 489 The Banquet
At the banquet, some folks were invited to perform. Patricia mentioned she knew some celebrities.
Jennifer left the performance arrangements to Patricia.
But the day before the event, the celebrity canceled.
Patricia scrambled to find a replacement, but most celebrities were already booked.
Feeling she messed up, Patricia was really down when she got home.
Celeste noticed and asked, "Patricia, what's wrong?"
"Sorry, Grandma, I... I..." Patricia stammered, looking guilty and ashamed, then ran to her room.

After hanging up, Celeste asked the maid to cut some fruit and took it to Patricia's room.
Patricia was lying on the bed, face buried in the pillow.
Celeste placed the fruit on the bedside table and gently patted her shoulder. "Don't suffocate yourself."
Patricia moved a bit, slowly lifted her head, and her eyes were red from crying.
"You're crying over this?" Celeste felt even more heartbroken.
"But I can't even handle this small thing," Patricia said, feeling guilty. "I'm so stupid, not like Sophia, who does everything perfectly."
"Sophia is excellent," Celeste replied.
Hearing this, Patricia looked even more upset.
Celeste chuckled. "You and Sophia are different. No need to compare yourself to her."
"But..." Patricia bit her lip, started to speak, then stopped.
"As long as you study hard, you can be excellent too."
Patricia quickly nodded. "I will study hard!"
Celeste felt relieved. Patricia's self-blame showed she recognized her mistake. Next time, she wouldn't make the same one.
Since returning to the country, Patricia had changed a lot, and Celeste noticed.
She was pleased. Patricia was now eager to learn and very motivated.
The Blackwood family's banquet wasn't a commercial event but a way to reconnect with old friends. Performances were just for fun.
Sophia was dedicated to making sure the Blackwood family hosted a successful banquet. It was their first since returning to the country, and a flop would mean ridicule from their social circle.
So she reached out to Caroline.
Caroline didn't do many commercial performances anymore, but she agreed without hesitation when Sophia invited her.
Caroline even brought two of her dance students.
Using her connections, Caroline also got a well-known piano master.
On the day of the banquet, Sophia wore a light white dress and the black diamond necklace Gabriel had given her.
She arrived early to help.
As the banquet was about to start, Gabriel arrived with the three kids, accompanying Ruth.
The appearance of the Lancaster family immediately drew everyone's attention. The three adorable and handsome kids caused quite a stir.
Ethan and Sam rocked cool black tuxedos, looking like little gentlemen.
Emma wore a princess dress matching Sophia's, with a big pink bow on her head, complete with a diamond in the center.
Gabriel, in a black suit, looked broad-shouldered and slim-waisted, exuding an air of nobility that made it hard for anyone to look away.
Sophia and Colin walked over together.
"Mommy, Uncle Colin."
Colin patted the kids' heads. "Lots of yummy stuff tonight. Are your tummies empty?"
"Yes, we're hungry," Emma said, licking her lips. She could already smell the food.
Sophia took the kids to find something to eat, with Gabriel quietly following. Colin accompanied Ruth to find Celeste.
David couldn't make it back, so Colin and Jennifer had to entertain the guests.
Celeste met many old friends, and even Ruth, who rarely went out, saw familiar faces. A group of wealthy and elegant elderly ladies gathered to chat.
Sophia found some food for the kids and let them sit down to eat. She also grabbed a few bites herself.
Suddenly, Sophia saw Chloe, Logan, and Ella. They were talking to Celeste.
Patricia, who would be by Celeste's side all evening, was happy to see her family.
Caroline played several pieces, and her two students danced beautifully, drawing a lot of attention.
Around 8:30 PM, Caroline finished her performance. Sophia quickly found her and brought her and the two students some food.
At that moment, Celeste began to speak. Jennifer and Colin had also returned to her side. Everyone looked at Celeste.
Celeste, smiling broadly, stood up holding Patricia's hand. "Thank you, old friends, for supporting the Blackwood family by attending this banquet. The Blackwood family has been away for many years, but we are finally back. Today, I want to formally introduce my granddaughter, Patricia."
Originally, Celeste wanted Patricia to change her last name to Blackwood, but Patricia refused, saying the Brown family had raised her and Susan, and she wanted to remember their kindness.
