Chapter 310 Stimulus
Mrs. Lancaster was taken to another ward, and Gabriel followed. After the doctor's examination, a conclusion was reached.
The doctor advised, "Intense stress caused a sudden heart attack, rest well, and do not let Mrs. Lancaster be stimulated again."
Madam lay on the hospital bed, needles inserted into her withered hands.
Gabriel instructed Betty to stay and watch over her, then he went to Sophia's ward.
"Boss," Alex said and approached.
The boss had been in the hospital for a day and a night, neglecting Lancaster Group's affairs. Just by looking at his scruffy appearance, it was clear he hadn't slept all night.
Alex was anxious.
"Gabriel!" A person roared and rushed up, swinging a fist that accurately hit Gabriel's face.
Gabriel, with one side of his mouth still sore from Vincent's punch the day before, now received another blow on the other side. Both sides were now equal!
The boss had never been beaten up so much in his life as in these past few days.
Jake Hughes swung his fist again, Gabriel grabbed it, and the two struggled. Jake Hughes was furious, swinging another fist, but Gabriel dodged it.
The two started fighting outside the ward.
To be precise, it was Jake Hughes attacking and Gabriel evading.
Caroline, hearing the commotion, came out.
Caroline scolded them, "Stop, you'll disturb Sophia like this."
Jake Hughes paused, and Gabriel stopped moving as well.
Jake Hughes stared coldly at Gabriel, his fair face filled with anger.
Jake declared, "I won't let you off the hook. Even if Sophia recovers, I will make you pay!"
As he said this, he became even more determined in his heart to make Gabriel suffer a crushing defeat.
Jake Hughes entered the ward, and as Gabriel tried to follow, Jake Hughes quickly closed the door.
Carolin said, "Gabriel, I have something to say to you."
Gabriel had to turn around and walk to the side with Caroline.
"You heard what Colin said." Caroline's expression was indifferent as she continued to speak, "I don't want you near Sophia, but you are the person Sophia dislikes the most. We will try any method to wake Sophia up."
Caroline ordered, "If you have even a hint of guilt, go talk to Sophia and wake her up."
Gabriel agreed, "All right."
He must make Sophia wake up, no matter the cost.
Gabriel agreed without hesitation, surprising Caroline.
In the ward, Jake Hughes looked at Sophia on the bed, feeling heartbroken. His sister Kelly should be happy and healthy, but now she was hurt by Gabriel.
Jake Hughes's hatred towards Gabriel continued to grow.
The three children, upon seeing Jake Hughes, were no longer in the mood to play with him. They stubbornly insisted on staying by their mother's side, refusing to be taken away by anyone.
Gabriel entered with Caroline.
"Why are you here, get out!" Jake Hughes yelled and looked like he was about to hit someone again, completely different from his previous gentle image. He was now very irritable.
Caroline explained, "He is the person Sophia dislikes the most. Let him try to wake up Sophia first."
The statement "Caroline is the person Sophia dislikes the most" was harsh, but it seemed to be true.
Gabriel felt hurt.
Ignoring Jake Hughes's anger, he sat beside Sophia's bed and held her hand.
Jake Hughes's eyes seemed to want to kill Gabriel.
"Sophia," Gabriel called out to her.
Caroline also gestured for the three children to come closer.
"Mommy." Emma cried again, "Mommy, please wake up quickly."
Emma said, "I don't like Daddy anymore, I don't want Daddy, I only want Mommy."
Gabriel said, "If you wake up, I'll give the children back to you."
Sophia was very happy in her dream, free from pain, and able to sleep peacefully with her three children by her side.
She was so happy.
But that annoying voice kept popping up, making her unhappy.
Sophia's hand moved slightly.
"She moved her hand," Caroline said as she saw Sophia's hand move and got excited, quickly going to find the doctor.
Gabriel continued to talk to Sophia.
He demanded, "Sophia, I command you to wake up quickly."
He mocked, "If you don't wake up, Ethan, Emma, and Sam will all be mine."
One of the children's voices cried out to her, "Sob, Mommy..."
Sophia seemed to hear her children crying. Why were they crying? Had someone bullied them?
A vast expanse of white mist appeared in Sophia's dream, causing her to panic and lose her way, unable to find her children.
"Sophia..."
The annoying voice continued to sound.
"Mommy, sob..."
The children's cries also continued.
Under the stimulation of these two voices, Sophia became anxious, a tear rolling down her cheek.
Caroline called the doctor over, witnessing this scene.
She urged them, "Keep talking, keep stimulating her. If Sophia reacts, it means she can hear us."
Gabriel pretended to be cold and gloomy. "Sophia, if you don't wake up, I'll find a stepmother for the children, I'll find Tiffany. You said she's not good to the children, so wake up, live well, and protect the three children."
Ethan quickly chimed in, "Mommy, I don't want a stepmother, I just want my mommy."
Sam called out to her, "Mommy."
Emma cried out, "Sob, Mommy, I want to be with you forever. Stepmothers are mean, they will bully Emma."
Wanting to find a stepmother for her children, especially someone like Tiffany, made Sophia very angry.
Her heart rate increased, and the instruments emitted beeping sounds.
Caroline encouraged them to continue, "Heart rate accelerating, Sophia is experiencing emotional fluctuations, continue!"
Caroline now wanted to bring Tiffany over to stimulate Sophia as well.
Gabriel continued to taunt Sophia, "You think you can end it just because you're dead? Those who are alive will pay the price for your death.
"These children are so young, only five years old. Are you heartless enough to abandon them? Do you want all three children to have autism?
"They have no mother to protect them, they will be bullied at school. I'm telling you, I won't take care of them. You wake up and take care of them yourself."
"Mommy, I don't want to be bullied," Emma cried sadly as if she had already been bullied.
Sophia's hand unconsciously clenched into a fist, tightly and with great force.
Her breathing gradually intensified, and she suddenly opened her eyes.
"Gabriel, you jerk!" she shouted loudly.
The worried hearts of the onlookers were relieved.
The doctor quickly came forward to check on her.
Sophia hadn't fully recovered from her angry outburst. She pushed away the doctor's hand, sat up, grabbed Gabriel's collar, and felt a bit dizzy from the sudden movement.
"Gabriel, how dare you consider Tiffany as their stepmother. I will make sure you never see the children again!"
Gabriel smiled. She had finally woken up, and the lively Sophia was back.
Gabriel replied, "All right."
Sophia said, "If they are bullied and you do nothing, you don't deserve to be their father."
Gabriel replied, "All right."
Sophia finally realized something was off. Was this person in front of her really Gabriel? Why was he so gentle, and a bit foolish?
Jake Hughes pushed Gabriel away.
