Chapter 571 Found Out
Simon’s eyes went wide, then he did what Caroline said and played again. His face lit up like a Christmas tree.
“Whoa, it actually sounds better!”
He loved messing around with his violin, but no matter how much he played, it never sounded quite right. So, he didn’t have any fans or anything.
“Hey, do you play the violin too?” he asked Caroline.
Caroline nodded, looking all modest. “Yeah, but I’m not that great.”
Simon gave her a once-over, really checking her out.
Caroline felt kinda awkward.
After a bit, Simon suddenly burst out laughing and put the violin down.
“Come here, stretch out your hand, let me check your pulse again.”
Caroline was taken aback.
Simon checked her pulse again.
“Your body’s pretty run down, but don’t sweat it. With me around, I’ll get you back to health. Oh, and I’ll teach you some exercises. Do them for half an hour every morning, and in two weeks, you’ll be glowing.”
Caroline stayed quiet.
She could feel Simon’s enthusiasm.
“By the way, Nicholas still needs to sleep for another half hour. Can you show me that method again?”
Simon looked like a kid eager to learn.
Daisy chilled at home for two days. After hearing that Aragorn got hospitalized from anger, she thought about it and decided to visit him with a gift.
In the hospital room, Daisy cried her eyes out at Aragorn’s bedside.
Gummidge stood by, feeling all sympathetic.
Daisy had grown up under their watch, and they always treated her like a daughter-in-law. Daisy was close to them too.
Aragorn, who always wanted a grandson, thought this was it.
But reality had other plans.
Daisy said, “I really don’t know what happened. Trevor... My mom said Trevor will stay with the Wolfs from now on. If you don’t want to see us, we’ll never show up again.”
Aragorn felt a deep sense of regret whenever he thought of Trevor.
He had genuinely loved Trevor and really thought of him as his grandson.
But in the end...
“I’ve always behaved well in The Watson Mansion for so many years. Are you really going to deny me as Nicholas’s wife because of that?” Daisy sobbed her heart out.
Aragorn felt torn. The marriage between the two families was only good for the Watson Group. If they kicked Daisy out, it would be too heartless and would definitely piss off the Wolfs.
Aragorn looked at Daisy. They had treated her well before, partly because they respected the Wolfs behind her.
Aragorn thought, ‘Now that Daisy messed up, if we forgive her and keep treating her as family... Then the Wolfs would owe the Watsons a favor.’
Gummidge helped Daisy up.
Aragorn sighed, “You were always the one we recognized. Don’t be sad anymore.”
Daisy wiped her tears, surprised.
“You and Aunt Gummidge don’t blame me anymore?”
Gummidge continued, “This wasn’t your choice. But do you know who Trevor’s real dad is?”
Daisy lowered her head. “I don’t know.”
Aragorn said, “Then, let’s not bring this up again.”
Gummidge thought for a moment. “Why don’t we bring Trevor over? We’ll raise him as our own grandson. The house feels pretty empty without him.”
She wanted to add that when Josie was around, even though Josie was quiet, the whole house felt different.
But she didn't dare bring up Josie.
Josie was Caroline's kid, and Aragorn had a serious beef with her.
Aragorn stayed quiet for a bit, then nodded.
Daisy was over the moon, thinking, 'This way, everyone will think Nicholas is Trevor's dad. Otherwise, how could I stay at The Watson Mansion with Trevor legit?'
She knew that because of the Wolfs, Aragorn wouldn't pull anything drastic.
The next day, Daisy brought Trevor back to the Watson Mansion, and Trevor kept the name Trevor Watson.
Sharpe felt all kinds of conflicted when he heard about this.
He couldn't bring himself to tell Nicholas.
Nicholas's family had no boundaries.
Nicholas wasn't surprised at all. He had long figured Aragorn wouldn't easily ditch the marriage with the Wolfs.
He had also completely given up on changing Aragorn's mind.
No matter what they did, as long as they didn't mess with his life with Caroline.
"Nicholas!" Paul burst in, looking all serious.
Nicholas raised his hand, signaling Sharpe to leave.
Paul said, "There's a lead on that thing."
Nicholas's hand on the table clenched.
"Spill it!"
Paul swallowed, looking super conflicted. After hesitating for a bit, he said, "The cops in Country Y nabbed a robber. According to the guy, they only rob and don't kill, but someone paid them big bucks to off a woman."
"They took the job for the cash. The target they were supposed to kill was Caroline!"
Nicholas's eyes turned icy.
Paul went on, "Based on what they said, the cops found that the money came from an account in our country."
"That account's been closed, but the records are still there. I've been digging into it, and while there's no solid proof, I think the person who wanted Caroline dead was Aragorn."
Paul couldn't wrap his head around Aragorn wanting Caroline dead just to split her and Nicholas up.
At that moment, Paul felt a chill for Nicholas.
Nicholas's hand gripped tight, the USB drive in his palm digging into his skin, but he didn't let go. Only this pain kept him clear-headed and rational.
His gaze was deep, and even Paul couldn't tell what he was thinking.
After a long time, Nicholas called Sharpe back in.
"Get a team of bodyguards to protect the Watsons 24/7, especially Aragorn!"
Paul was shocked, thinking, 'Nicholas doesn't even want to call Aragorn "father" anymore? And what's Nicholas planning?'
Sharpe was also stunned, wanting to ask something, but his professional training kept him quiet.
"Yes!"
Finally, Nicholas added, "Tell them the outside world is too dangerous. They should stay home and not wander around."
Paul was stunned.
He figured if Nicholas had something solid on Aragorn, he'd go straight to the cops.
After Sharpe left, Nicholas looked at Paul.
"Don't tell Caroline about this."
Paul didn't miss the flash of fear in Nicholas's eyes.
He was shocked again.
Understanding the reasons, Paul nodded.
Nicholas was scared that if Caroline knew Aragorn wanted her dead, she'd take Josie and bolt, somewhere even Nicholas couldn't find them.
