Chapter 599 Sanctions

Nicholas, who'd been keeping quiet this whole time, shot Daniel a serious look.

"Yo, Mr. Wolf, you gonna do a paternity test or what?"

Daniel shook his head.

He already knew deep down that Caroline was his kid.

The birthmark matched, and Saskia had confirmed the photo. No doubt about it.

Nicholas said, "Mr. Wolf, you really should. Some folks might not wanna accept it."

Daniel thought for a sec and nodded.

Nicholas added, "Someone's out to get Caroline, Mr. Wolf. You better dig deep before spilling the beans about her being your daughter."

Daniel wanted to tell Linda so bad, dreaming of a happy reunion with Caroline, but Nicholas's warning made him chill out real quick.

The people who hurt Caroline were lurking around. If he blabbed that Caroline was his daughter, they'd go even deeper underground, making it harder to catch them.

Nicholas had Sharpe push him to follow Caroline, while Daniel stood there, fists clenched, watching Caroline's thin figure disappear.

Daniel didn't head home but went straight to Evergreen Heights Medical Center.

He remembered when Caroline donated bone marrow to Diana, she left a blood sample at the hospital.

Daniel didn't care if his body could take it; he just wanted to get this done ASAP.

After handing the two samples to the doc at the testing agency, he passed out.

Linda was at home when she got a call from a nurse using Daniel's phone, saying he had fainted. She rushed over in a panic.

Caroline was out of it all day, but luckily, she only had one violin lesson.

When she came out of the classroom, she saw Nicholas still hanging around.

"Don't you need to go to work?"

"Being with you is more important."

Caroline checked the time. "Then let's grab lunch."

"Sure thing."

With David and Gabriel's teamwork, Logan's two cases went to court today.

In the first case, Logan got three years for stabbing someone and causing serious injury.

In the second case, Logan conspired with others to commit commercial crimes, killed his partner Peter to cover it up, and framed Francis, leading to Francis's death. With solid evidence, he got the death sentence.

Everyone from the Blackwoods and the Lancasters was in the courtroom.

Celeste was still super weak, but she insisted on coming. She had to see Logan, who caused Susan and Francis's deaths, get what he deserved.

Sophia was with Celeste, who leaned on her, wiping her tears.

"Man, I was once grateful to that jerk."

When she first found the Browns and thought Patricia was her granddaughter, Celeste was genuinely thankful to the Browns for raising Susan and taking care of Patricia.

Now that the truth was out, Celeste just felt like a fool for not seeing their scheme earlier.

Sophia sniffled.

"Grandma, don't beat yourself up. The Browns were sneaky. It's no wonder you didn't catch on. At least the truth is out now, and Dad can rest in peace."

Sophia felt a lump in her throat.

Sophia thought, 'But what good is clearing the charges? My parents aren't coming back.'

After the verdict, Logan was dragged away in shame.

Celeste couldn't hold on any longer and fainted as she got up to leave.

Sophia and Jennifer freaked out, and in the end, Gabriel carried Celeste to the car and took her to the hospital.

Luckily, Celeste was okay, just that her wound had opened up a bit, and her body wasn't fully recovered, needing more rest.

Sophia stayed with Celeste at the hospital all night. The next day, she headed back to Lancaster Manor to freshen up, and her three kids swarmed her.

"Mom, you're looking skinnier," Emma said, touching Sophia's hand and noticing how thin it felt.

Sophia reassured them, "Mom's just been super busy lately."

Ethan chimed in, "Did the bad guys get what they deserved?"

"Yep, your grandpa up in heaven must've seen it. The person who caused his death finally got punished."

The three kids nodded and hugged Sophia tight.

"Mom, don't be sad. We're always here for you, and so is grandpa and grandma's love," Emma said sweetly.

Sophia ruffled their hair, thinking maybe Susan and Francis couldn't stand seeing her so lonely, so they sent her these three adorable kids to keep her company.

Meanwhile, Patricia got another verdict.

Seeing Logan's sentence, she felt like her world was crashing down.

Patricia couldn't wrap her head around Logan being a murderer.

'I'm the daughter of a murderer!' she thought, feeling desperate.

Logan was sentenced to death, Ella was still locked up, and Chloe had died because of Logan.

Now, Patricia was the last one standing from the Browns.

She felt lost and uneasy, her eyes filled with confusion.

"With the Blackwoods' help, it was easy for Sophia to dig into her dad's death," Tiffany's voice cut in.

Patricia was stunned.

"If it weren't for the Blackwoods, Sophia would be nothing," Tiffany said, lounging on the couch and admiring her nails. "Everything that belonged to the Blackwoods should've been yours, including the chance to marry into the Lancasters. But Sophia was too slick, winning over Celeste and getting the Blackwoods to kick you out."

"Patricia, if you still want revenge, get your act together."

Yeah, she couldn't let Sophia keep walking all over her. She had to fight back, make Sophia feel the same pain of loss!

Patricia's face twisted, and she crumpled the verdict in her hand.

Out of nowhere, Sophia sneezed.

She rubbed her nose, sure Patricia was cursing her out somewhere.

"Emily," Sophia called Jennifer's assistant, Emily Lawson.

"Miss Kelly, what do you need?"

Sophia handed her a bank card and a plane ticket.

"Can you do something for me?"

She had promised Ella something and had to follow through, even though she hated Ella and Patricia. Breaking her word wasn't an option.

She'd give Patricia some money, but Ella didn't say how much, so Sophia just gave a little.

Sending Patricia abroad was no biggie, but once she was there, whether she lived or died wasn't Sophia's problem.

With Patricia's stubborn streak, she'd probably have a rough time abroad without money or skills.

Two hours later, Emily came back, handing the bank card and ticket back to Sophia.

"Patricia refused?" Sophia asked.

Emily nodded, "Yeah, and she also..."

Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Also what?"

"She also cursed you out."

Sophia chuckled. "Figures. Thanks."

If Patricia didn't curse her, she wouldn't be Patricia.

Sophia felt a bit uneasy.

Having Patricia around felt like a ticking time bomb, always keeping her on edge. She kinda wished Patricia had taken the ticket and left.

After work, Sophia went to the hospital to see Celeste and stayed for dinner.

She hung around until after eight before heading out.

Celeste was worried about her driving back alone and insisted Colin take her home.
