Chapter 635 Visiting Daddy

Ruth had been feeling off lately, like something bad was about to go down.

But she kept it cool in front of Sophia and the kids.

When Sophia finally came to talk about it, Ruth took a moment to think.

"Gabriel always checks in when he's on a business trip. Even if he's running late, he lets us know. This time, it's really weird."

"Let's get David to look into it."

Sophia nodded and grabbed her phone to call David.

That night, Sophia couldn't sleep at all. She tossed and turned, staring at her phone on the nightstand. When it buzzed, she wondered if it was Gabriel.

She reached out, grabbed it, and opened the message. It was from Gabriel.

Sophia thought, 'He says he'll be back in two days?'

From his text, it seemed like he was okay.

After about ten minutes, Sophia decided to call him.

Gabriel didn't expect her call.

He hesitated, thinking, 'My voice is raspy and tired. She'll know something's up. Forget it.' He decided not to answer.

Gabriel hung up and sent a text instead.

Gabriel: [Working now, can't talk.]

For some reason, Sophia felt uneasy.

She thought of Tiffany, who was also in Country M.

'Is he really working, or is he with Tiffany?' she wondered.

Sophia: [Got it, the kids are good.]

Gabriel could sense Sophia's distance through the text.

His heart ached a little.

Gabriel: [Okay. Finishing up soon, coming home early. Any gifts you want?]

Sophia: [Thanks, no need for me, just something for the kids.]

Gabriel: [Alright.]

Sophia: [It's late, I'm going to sleep.]

Gabriel: [Goodnight.]

Sophia didn't reply.

She put her phone away and lay back down, still unable to sleep.

She felt trapped, like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't break free.

Her mind was flooded with images of Gabriel's heartfelt confessions and scenes of him with Tiffany.

Her heart grew more chaotic.

She realized that in their relationship, she was very concerned about Tiffany's presence, to the point where she couldn't tell if Gabriel was truly sincere with her now.

The next day, Sophia met Caroline for coffee and couldn't help but confide in her.

Caroline stirred her coffee, took a sip, and said slowly, "Do you still love Gabriel?"

Sophia was stunned and questioned herself inwardly,

'Do I still love Gabriel?'

In the past, she could firmly say she didn't, but now, she wasn't sure. Her mind was a mess.

She knew she shouldn't dwell on past events. Gabriel was really good to her now, even risking his life for her, but she...

"Sophia, you're such a go-getter, but when it comes to love, why are you so indecisive?"

Sophia was stunned again.

Yeah, because she had been hurt by Gabriel in the past, she felt very insecure. Every time she bravely took a step forward, she would immediately retreat because of Tiffany.

"Aren't you just falling into Tiffany's trap? You just need to figure out if you still love Gabriel and then find out what's really going on."

Sophia looked down at her coffee.

"Yeah, I know what to do now."

Caroline suddenly gave a bitter smile. "I'm advising you, but honestly, my own relationship is a total disaster."

Sophia immediately looked up and asked, "What's going on with you and Nicholas?"

Caroline frowned slightly. "It's like we've silently reconciled. He comes over every day. Because of his numb legs, I can't bear to kick him out, so I set up a room for him. Now he treats my place like it's his own."

Sophia burst into laughter. "So, you want Nicholas to give you a formal proposal?"

Caroline pouted, denying it, "I don't."

Sophia gave her a knowing look. Since Caroline had cried to Nicholas, their relationship seemed to have taken a step forward, but they were still a bit short of breaking through the final barrier.

After talking to Caroline, Sophia felt much better. As they finished their coffee and were about to leave, Rose appeared.

"What are you doing here?" Rose ran over excitedly, followed by several bodyguards carrying shopping bags. It was clear that Rose had come to shop.

Rose sat down, and Sophia and Caroline, who were about to leave, had to stay. Because Rose had helped her, Caroline had a good impression of Rose. Plus, Rose's straightforward personality made them get along well.

After getting engaged, Rose and Gavin didn't live together, but they saw each other every day, and their relationship was as sweet as honey.

Caroline curiously asked, "Is it a family-arranged marriage?"

Rose nodded, "Sort of."

Sophia also leaned in curiously. "Do you love him?"

Rose shyly lowered her head. "Of course, I love him very much."

Caroline and Sophia exchanged knowing looks and then listened to Rose share stories about her and her fiancé, Gavin.

Caroline and Sophia exclaimed that it was like a romantic love drama.

After chatting with Caroline and Rose, Sophia returned to The Blackwood Manor and was about to send a message to Gabriel. At that moment, Betty pushed Ruth over to her.

Ruth looked flustered. "Sophia, Gabriel is in danger."

Sophia felt a bit panicked. "What happened to him?"

"I just called Harrison, and after pressing him, I found out that Gabriel was seriously injured over there. He's been unconscious for two days and can't return yet. Sophia, I'm very worried about him. Please come to Country M with me."

Ruth's eyes were red, and her voice choked, "Gabriel is my only grandson. I can't imagine what would happen if anything happened to him. The company needs him, and Ethan, Sam, and Emma can't do without their father."

"Harrison also said that his condition isn't good today, Sophia."

Sophia couldn't resist Ruth's plea and was about to agree.

"Daddy is hurt!"

The three kids ran in.

"Great-grandma, Mommy, we want to go see Daddy too."

Not knowing if it was still dangerous over there, Sophia didn't want to take the three kids with her. "It's a bit dangerous there right now. You should stay here with Celeste."

"No, we want to go." This time, Ethan was also very determined. He finally figured out what had been bothering him for days.

Ethan remembered a news article he had read a few days ago about a top chip raw material supplier in Country M terminating its cooperation with the Lancaster Group, causing the Lancaster Group's new project to fail.

Celeste also walked in. "Let them go. Let Colin accompany you, and David is also there."
