Chapter 148 Going Abroad for Investigation

Sophia went to the sample room to use the sewing machine and make adjustments to the sample clothes when Fiona followed her in.

"Sophia, do you need any help?"

Huh?

Has Fiona lost her mind?

Sophia gave Fiona a wary glance, and Fiona smiled at her. "If you need any help, just let me know. I'll definitely help you."

She was certain that Fiona had gone crazy.

Sophia didn't want to deal with her and coldly walked to her own station.

Fiona felt annoyed inside but maintained a smiling face.

Margaret hadn't returned from her business trip yet, and the documents for the new products urgently needed the leader's signature. Sophia had no choice but to go to the general office and find Gabriel to sign them.

Just as she came out of the elevator, she saw Gabriel walking hastily out of his office with a serious expression on his face.

Gabriel noticed Sophia and quickly averted his gaze, treating her like an ordinary employee.

Is he in a hurry to go out?

Sophia hurriedly stopped him.

"I don't have time right now. If there's something, we can talk later," Gabriel said coldly, dismissing her and entering the elevator.

Determined, Sophia followed him in.

It's just a signature, and it can be done in the elevator.

When Gabriel saw Sophia entering, his brows wrinkled tightly. He was genuinely busy and had no time to be entangled with Sophia right now.

He thought she had come because of Sam. Sam had been doing well these past few days, and Sophia had just seen him the day before yesterday. Was she trying to pressure him?

"These documents need to be signed urgently," Sophia handed him the documents and added, "There's no more time to wait."

Gabriel paused for a second, realizing that she had come for work.

He quickly took out a pen and quickly signed his name on the documents.

The elevator went straight to the parking lot, and Sophia reluctantly followed him with the documents.

Gabriel answered a phone call as he walked out.

"What did the doctor say? Okay, I'll be there right away..."

The elevator doors closed slowly, blocking Gabriel's fading voice.

Doctor?

Sophia caught a key word.

Who's sick?

Sam?

Why didn't Gabriel tell her?

Could it be that it's not Sam, but... Mrs. Lancaster?

Sophia's heart skipped a beat.

She had been away from home for so long and had only focused on Sam. She hadn't visited the elderly lady, feeling truly guilty for Madam's kindness towards her in the past.

Back in her office, Sophia felt increasingly uneasy. She took out her phone and dialed Gabriel's number.

Gabriel was driving when he saw Sophia's call and answered it.

Her voice came through the Bluetooth headset.

"Is Grandma sick?"

Gabriel was puzzled.

"No."

Other than having trouble with her legs, Grandma was doing fine overall. As long as she didn't experience any major shocks and extremes in emotions, there wouldn't be any big problems.

"That's Sam sick?"

"No."

It wasn't Grandma, nor Sam. So who was in such a hurry to go out and even said, 'doctor'? Who could it be related to?

"It's Tiffany."

Well, Sophia just hung up the phone.

Gabriel ...

He swore to himself that he would never answer Sophia's calls so quickly in the future. He would make her call three or four times before picking up!

And he would hang up even faster than her!

Sophia didn't want to hear Gabriel's voice for even a single extra moment.

No wonder he was so anxious. His dream girl was sick.

Serves her right, it's retribution!

It would be best if she were seriously ill, bedridden, and could never cause trouble anymore.

Tiffany had consumed a lot of alcohol and ended up with alcohol poisoning, unconscious in her house. In the morning, the janitor, as required, came to clean and was scared when they opened the door and saw someone lying on the floor. They immediately called the police and an ambulance.

By the time Gabriel arrived at the hospital, Tiffany was being wheeled out of the emergency room.

Doctor "Alcohol poisoning. Luckily, she was brought in just in time. Any later and she would have gone into shock."

"Thank you."

Tiffany had her eyes tightly closed, her face as pale as paper. Her cheeks had become so thin that her cheekbones were protruding, and her eye sockets had sunk deep.

It had only been two days since he last saw her. How did she end up looking like this?

Gabriel had a headache. After taking care of the hospital admission procedures, he called Alex to discuss some matters, then stayed in the hospital room.

He sat on a chair, his back straight and sturdy. One glance at his broad, solid back would make anyone feel secure. The smooth lines of his neck were also irresistibly attractive.

When Tiffany opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was his perfect profile. The lines of his face were taut, and his jawline was especially refined. She opened her mouth weakly and called out, "Gabriel."

Gabriel turned his head.

"Awake? Have some water."

Gabriel helped her drink a little water.

"What happened to me?" Tiffany felt weak all over, her head was throbbing violently, and her stomach was slightly aching.

"Alcohol poisoning."

Tiffany paused for a moment, then gave a bitter smile.

"It's fortunate that I didn't die and can see you again."

"Tiffany, I don't blame you, there's no need for you to hurt yourself like this."

Tiffany's expression froze.

He called her "Tiffany!"

"You understand Sam's situation too. I need to make more time to be with him. He's still young and he needs me."

"But I need you too," Tiffany said.

Gabriel pursed his lips. He knew exactly what Tiffany was thinking.

But he truly had no control over it, at least not at this stage.

The atmosphere fell silent for half a minute.

Gabriel finally spoke again, his thin lips opening and closing, "While you're in the hospital, I'll hire a caregiver for you, and I'll try to come see you every day."

Tiffany knew that was all he could do.

She felt so resentful. Why did Sophia have to give birth to this child?

An eyesore.

With Sam around, Gabriel couldn't wholeheartedly be good to her.

Sam took away most of Gabriel's love for her, no, precisely speaking, took away all of it!

A trace of venom flashed in Tiffany's eyes. She picked up her phone from the bedside table and made a call.

"Have you found anything?"

"Not yet, they are hiding too deep."

"Useless! A bunch of incompetents! I gave you so much money, and you can't even handle this little task." Tiffany vented her anger towards the other end of the phone.

After the intense burst of fury, her head grew even more dizzy.

She had really consumed a lot of alcohol, and she was indeed intoxicated. However, she had timed it and made preparations as well.

If the cleaning staff didn't appear so timely, the people she arranged would also have shown up and taken her to the hospital.

It would have achieved the same effect of making Gabriel feel pity.

The effect did manifest, but it only resulted in Gabriel visiting her every day during her hospital stay, not in him agreeing to marry her.

After a long pause, Tiffany said through the phone, "Since there's no information domestically, then go check overseas. Sophia has been in country M for five years. Find out who she has met there."

Apart from Gabriel, who else could Sophia know of significance in the country? Even if she was talented, it was impossible for her to have met other influential people in such a short time in the country.

Tiffany was infuriated to the point of feeling dizzy. She lay down unable to sleep, feeling increasingly regretful that she didn't cut off the root of the problem.
