Chapter 146 Animosity

This meal is really terrible.

Jake sighed inwardly, feeling helpless.

"Who is he?" Gabriel's gaze turned cold as he glanced at Jake, questioning Sophia.

Ignoring him, Sophia apologized with a glance at Jake, "I'm sorry, I've been quite busy lately."

"It's okay, as long as sister didn't forget." Jake also ignored Gabriel.

Gabriel ...

Damn, he was actually being ignored by two people!

Gabriel felt the urge to punch someone.

Jake was quite handsome, with a pair of charming peach blossom eyes. When he looked at someone, it felt like strings were being pulled between them. What's more, he had a particularly sunny smile, dressed stylishly in a trendy deep blue hoodie that suited him well.

Gabriel's internal evaluation of Jake He looks as fragile as a little chick.

Little did he know that many women nowadays couldn't resist this kind of "adorable puppy".

Maternal instincts overflowing, huh?

"Is this sister's child?" Jake noticed Sam.

This child shared about fifty percent resemblance with Gabriel, especially the brows and eyes.

Sophia really wanted to say "yes".

"He's Sam, you can call him Sam." She didn't want to deny it either, so she awkwardly avoided the question.

Jake paused for a second, not understanding why she didn't acknowledge it, but he couldn't expose her.

"Hello, Sam." Jake reached out his hand towards Sam.

If Sister Blue loves her child so much, then he should treat the child well too.

Sam shrank closer to Gabriel, glanced shyly at Jake, then moved away.

Jake's hand froze in mid-air, a hint of confusion flashing in his mind.

"Sorry, he's a bit shy." Sophia explained.

This...it's not just shyness, right?

It seems there are many things he hasn't figured out yet.

Didn't they say that Gabriel already had a girlfriend and had nothing to do with Sister Blue? Then why were they sitting together for dinner today?

Could it be because of the child?

Jake had many questions in his mind, but now wasn't the right time to seek answers from Sophia.

Sister Blue still hadn't remembered who he was.

"Sister, I have something to do, so I'll leave. Don't forget about the meal, remember to invite me."

Sophia smiled, "Alright, I won't forget. Goodbye."

"Enjoy your meal, goodbye."

From start to finish, Jake didn't look at Gabriel or speak to him, and it was highly unlikely that Gabriel would initiate a conversation with Jake.

"He's not ordinary, you better stay away from him."

When Sophia heard this, she raised her eyes mockingly and couldn't help but retort, "Do you have to say 'stay away' for any male who appears beside me, Gabriel? We have no relationship whatsoever. I have the right to interact with anyone, and you have no right to interfere."

Gabriel felt like he was acting stupid to have reminded her.

He should just let her be sold and paid up like a bunch of banknotes.

He didn't make eye contact with the man, yet he still sensed the hostility in his gaze. It wasn't the kind of hostility one would have towards a romantic rival but rather a fierce and intense competitive hostility, one without any gunfire. What were they competing for? It couldn't be for a woman. He was too familiar with this type of hostility, having held power at Lancaster for so many years, maneuvering through the business world, defeating countless competitors. Without his keen intuition and insight, he would not have become the richest person in Z country.

This man, though seemingly innocent and harmless on the surface, might just be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Was he getting close to Sophia because of her? Did Sophia know his true intentions? From their brief interaction, it seemed like Sophia wasn't very familiar with him. Damn it, why did he worry about Sophia again? This man getting close to her had nothing to do with him. Besides Sam, he had no relationship with Sophia.

Sophia's words stabbed Gabriel, leaving him speechless. No matter what he said, Sophia would have a comeback. He decided not to say anything anymore. If she got deceived in the future, she better not come crying to him.

Sophia thought it was about time to invite Jake out for a meal. As for Gabriel's comment about Jake being extraordinary, Sophia didn't care at all. Jake had saved her the first time they met. It couldn't be that Jake had deliberately staged that, could it? Gabriel's bodyguard was the one who attacked her that day. Jake had comforted her the second time. Jake couldn't possibly have the superpower of foreseeing the future and knowing she would be there, crying. As for this time, it was definitely just a coincidence.

Sophia thought Gabriel had a problem. He wasn't friendly towards any male who appeared by her side, not even Vincent or Jake. She wouldn't think he was jealous. She had long realized that Gabriel didn't like her.

With Gabriel around, Sophia didn't feel like going to the aquarium anymore. Sam didn't understand why Aunt Kelly had Caroline take Ethan and Emma away but left him behind. After Daddy appeared, he seemed to understand. He had discovered a secret. It seemed that Aunt Kelly didn't want Daddy to see Ethan and Emma. Why? Sam couldn't figure it out. He decided not to think about it and would ask Ethan next time. Ethan was so smart; he must know the truth.

Caroline took Ethan and Emma straight home. At 3:30 in the afternoon, Sophia entered the residential complex and saw a brand new car parked downstairs. It had a nice color, so Sophia took a few more glances before preparing to go inside. Just then, Caroline came down.

"Sophia, you're back."

"Yeah, are you going out?"

"No." Carol

Sophia shook the car keys in her hand. "Give it a try, it's the car I just picked up."

So that new car earlier belongs to Caroline?

Since it's my best friend's car, of course, I have to test drive it.

Sophia drove around the neighborhood.

Caroline sat in the passenger seat, feeling relaxed. "How do you like it?"

"Not bad." She liked its performance and all the various features inside the car, even the comfortable seats.

Caroline was enjoying the massage function on the passenger seat.

"You should use this car for commuting to work in the future."

"Huh? And what about you?"

Wasn't this car Caroline's purchase?

"I have money, so I bought two. This one is a birthday gift for you."

Suddenly, Sophia remembered that her birthday was coming up soon.

But isn't this gift too valuable?

Sophia had planned to save up for a cheap commuting car after the Chinese New Year, but now her best friend gave her one directly.

Can she have more friends like this?

Deep down, Caroline sighed. It's a tragedy! She was struggling financially and couldn't be this generous, giving her best friend a car worth hundreds of thousands.

This car was actually bought by Ethan and Emma themselves as a gift for their mommy.

They asked for Caroline's help because they didn't know how to give it without arousing suspicion.

Caroline felt guilty, and as Sophia hugged her, deeply moved, she chuckled quietly.
