Chapter 470 Discussion
Daisy also spoke slowly, "Dad, if you dare to give me and Samuel a younger brother or sister, Samuel and I will definitely not recognize you as our father anymore. Think carefully about what you're doing. Samuel is about to return to the country, and he will definitely join the company then."
Thinking of Samuel, Michael fell silent.
Samuel was his pride and joy. Compared to Daniel's son Clayton, Samuel was far more outstanding.
Samuel often received scholarships abroad. On the other hand, Clayton barely got into a foreign university, and spent his days indulging in eating, drinking, and having fun.
There was no question about who would take over the Wolf Group in the future.
Michael snorted coldly at Mia and took his coat into the guest room.
Daisy breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mom, I think I'll go back to the Watson Mansion tomorrow."
The Watson Mansion was quieter than home.
Moreover, at the Watson Mansion, Aragorn and Gummidge always took great care of her.
Mia didn't want Daisy's pregnancy to be affected, so she agreed.
Coincidentally, Aragorn had called multiple times, wanting Daisy to return to the Watson Mansion to rest.
Meanwhile, late at night in City S, Nicholas had just finished work. Sharpe escorted him to his hotel room.
He had just finished washing up and was about to rest when Paul contacted him via a video call.
Nicholas wasn't sleepy yet, so he answered.
"Nicholas, can you do me a favor?"
"Sure."
Paul quickly explained, and Nicholas softly agreed.
Finally, Paul squinted his eyes, scrutinizing Nicholas through the screen. "Nicholas, how have things been with Caroline since you returned to the country?"
Nicholas didn't respond.
Paul's eyes widened. "Don't tell me you still haven't tried to win her over?"
Nicholas spoke weakly, "She doesn't trust me."
Hearing this, Paul felt a headache coming on. "It must be because you did something to betray Caroline before, and you've lost her trust. I heard you even messed up Caroline's tour."
Nicholas frowned slightly. "I was angry at her for abandoning Josie."
At that time, he was angry that Caroline didn't acknowledge Josie and refused to teach Josie the violin. Because of this, he said many harsh words and did many petty and mean things to Caroline.
Recently, every time Nicholas thought about it, he deeply regretted it.
He wanted to do something to make amends, but he found that everything seemed futile.
Caroline simply didn't trust him.
Even if he laid his heart bare in front of her, she wouldn't believe it.
Paul ran his fingers through his hair. "I can feel that Caroline still has feelings for you, Nicholas. Don't give up so easily, and don't do anything to make her misunderstand you again."
"Got it."
"Alright, Nicholas, get some rest."
"Okay."
Nicholas laid down, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep.
He missed Caroline. He missed her so much.
He wondered if Caroline missed him too?
Nicholas picked up his phone again and opened his chat with Caroline.
The latest message was from a week ago.
She had told him about Josie's studies.
He opened her Twitter.
Caroline had set her posts to be visible to the public, but she hadn't posted anything for a long time. Today, however, she posted something, and Nicholas quickly opened it, liking it immediately before reading the content.
Caroline had posted a campus photo with the caption: [A new beginning.]
Nicholas wanted to comment but didn't know what to say.
He stared at it for a good half hour until his eyes grew tired before closing the app.
Before he went to asleep, Nicholas sent a message to Sharpe.
Nicholas: [Finish everything by tomorrow morning and book an afternoon flight back to City B.]
Tonight, Caroline was hosting a dinner. Near the end of the workday, a teacher walked over and sat next to Caroline. "Ms. Clark, there's one more person joining us tonight."
"Who?" Besides a few colleagues and some old classmates, Caroline didn't really know anyone else, so she hadn't invited too many people.
"Kieran Hughes. He teaches electric guitar."
"Alright."
Caroline had heard Kieran's name yesterday but hadn't met him yet.
It was said that Kieran graduated from a famous music academy abroad with a doctorate, had won many awards, and was already a full professor in his thirties.
His excellence was widely known in the school, and he was also considered quite handsome, having been voted as the most attractive mentor by students.
Today, Caroline had to tell Lisa to pick up Josie. Around 5:30 PM, Caroline went along with everyone to a restaurant.
"By the way, isn't Kieran coming? Where is he?" someone asked.
Wesley Diaz put down his phone and replied, "He said he'll be ten minutes late. We don't need to wait for him; let's order first."
"Today, since Caroline's treating us all to dinner, I'm going to order everything I like."
Caroline smiled playfully. "I just started the job and haven't even gotten paid yet. You guys should go easy on me."
Everyone laughed heartily, and the atmosphere was very joyful.
Fifteen minutes later, Kieran arrived. He wore a white shirt and black trousers. He was tall and elegant.
Although Kieran wasn't as handsome as Nicholas, he had a decent appearance and looked very upright.
"Kieran, come in and sit."
The only empty seat was to Caroline's right. Kieran nodded to everyone and then sat down next to Caroline.
"Sorry, I was delayed by something."
"No worries, you'll just have to eat a chili pepper as a penalty."
Kieran smiled and turned to look at Caroline, a sparkle in his eyes.
"Ms. Clark, hello. I'm Kieran," he said, extending his hand.
Caroline shook his hand amicably. "Hello, it's nice to meet you. I look forward to working with you."
The meal was very enjoyable for everyone, at least on the surface. Caroline stepped out to take a call midway and felt the need to use the restroom on her way back.
"I heard some juicy gossip."
A familiar voice came as Caroline finished in the restroom and was about to open the door. She stopped instinctively.
"What is it?"
It was two of Caroline's colleagues.
"I heard from the director that Caroline got in through connections."
"No way? Whose connections?"
"I heard Melissa was her former mentor and thinks highly of her."
"Could it be..."
"I also heard Nicholas was her first boyfriend."
"Oh my, she has such a privileged background!"
"Anyway, we'd better not do anything to offend her."
Caroline stayed inside, not coming out until they had left.
She frowned.
Such rumors wouldn't just be discussed privately. Over time, they might spread among the students too.
Would it affect Melissa then?
Caroline returned to the table with a heavy heart.
Everyone had almost finished eating.
"Ms. Clark, where do you live?" Kieran suddenly asked.
Caroline gave an address.
Kieran's eyes lit up. "What a coincidence, I live there too."
Everyone gradually left. Caroline paid the bill and was the last to leave, with Kieran staying until the end as well.
They left the restaurant together.
In the parking lot, they found their cars parked next to each other.
