Chapter 366 Ex-Girlfriend
Caroline's friend, Celine Green, broke down. "If you had told me earlier, I could have found someone else to help. Now you tell me that you can't do it. Aren't you screwing me over?"
"I don't care. Sinceyou're already here, you have to go in and play a couple of pieces. If you mess this up, I can't make a living in this circle in the future."
"And don't expect me to introduce you to any more paying gigs."
Celine dragged Caroline inside, practically pulling her by force.
Sensing Celine's anger, Caroline didn't want to make things difficult for Celine. But as she looked at the opulence inside the mansion, memories of coming here to find Nicholas flooded her mind.
She had been wantonly humiliated andbeaten. Her dignity was trampled underfoot.
"You're so good at the violin, so you just play a couple of cheerful pieces."
Celine led Caroline in through a side door.
Back then, Caroline couldn't even get through the main gate of the Watson Manor. She never thought she would enter today as a performer through a side door.
The music paused, and the dancers took their bows and left the stage. It was now Caroline's turn to perform.
Celine looked at Caroline's outfit with disdain, but there was no time to get her a different dress, so this would have to do.
"I'll pay you double after this."
Caroline's eyelashes fluttered slightly. She picked up her violin and slowly walked out.
She was wearing a sweet white dress and a pair of comfortable, versatile white shoes. Because she had come in a hurry, she didn't have time to change her clothes or shoes, so she had to come as she was.
As soon as Caroline appeared, she attracted everyone's attention.
She had a natural grace and beauty. Even though her outfit didn't match the event, she still looked stunning.
"Who is that? She's so beautiful," someone asked curiously.
"No idea, probably some small-time performer."
Caroline took a deep breath and told herself to treat this like any other performance.
So what if it was the Watson family? She was here to make money, not to find Nicholas.
Closing her eyes, Caroline slowly began to play her violin.
A soothing violin melody filled the air.
"What's she doing here?" Daisy tightened her grip on her glass, her eyes fixed on Caroline.
Caroline's appearance had drawn everyone's attention.
Daisy was filled with jealousy.
Although it was Aragorn's birthday party, he had privately told her that he would publicly acknowledge her as the future wife of Nicholas tonight.
Tonight was supposed to be Daisy's night!
Daisy's mother, Mia, glanced over indifferently. She didn't take Caroline seriously.
"Isn't this the perfect opportunity for her to see your future as the hostess of the Watson Group?"
With this new perspective, Daisy felt better.
"Right, I want her to know that I am Nicholas' wife, and she's just someone Nicholas discarded."
Mia lovingly patted Daisy on the back of her head. "You've finally grown up."
Aragorn and Daniel were chatting on the second floor when they heard the beautiful violin music. Linda paused to listen.
The melody started off soothing, then turned a bit melancholic, and finally became cheerful again, as if someone was experiencing the highs and lows of life.
"This violin performance is really good today."
Hearing Linda's comment, Daniel also listened for a moment. "Indeed, it's quite good."
This piece could rival those of seasoned performers.
Aragorn smiled with satisfaction and said, "All the performances today were arranged by Daisy. She's so thoughtful, saying she didn't want the guests to get bored, so she invited some celebrities to perform."
Daniel laughed and said, "Daisy is indeed a very considerate child."
Linda didn't disagree.
Michael, hearing everyone praise his daughter, proudly lifted his chin.
Nicholas came in after finishing a phone call and was momentarily stunned by the familiar violin sound.
'Why is Caroline here?' He thought.
Since that morning when he and Caroline had parted on bad terms, he hadn't seen her again.
Nicholas glanced over but could only see a blurry figure from a distance. He quickly looked away, his gaze cold.
Daisy was busy entertaining the wealthy ladies and young women with Gummidge. Seeing Gummidge, everyone could guess Daisy's status without needing an explanation.
"My aunt is over there, so I'll go say hi."
Gummidge smiled affectionately and said, "Go ahead."
Daisy lifted her dress and walked over.
"Aunt Linda, what are you looking at?"
Linda, with her elegant demeanor, had only grown more graceful with age.
She was intently watching Caroline, who was immersed in her violin performance.
There was something familiar about her.
"That girl playing the violin is quite beautiful," Linda genuinely praised.
Caroline not only played the violin well but was also beautiful and likable.
Daisy pouted and clung to Linda's arm, acting spoiled.
"Aunt Linda, do you know who she is?"
"Who?"
"She's Caroline, Nicholas' ex-girlfriend."
Linda looked at Daisy in shock.
Such a beautiful and graceful girl was Nicholas' ex-girlfriend, the shameless woman?
Linda looked at Caroline in disbelief.
She found it hard to believe.
"She went abroad for a while but suddenly came back. And now she's frequently appearing in front of Nicholas. She still wants to entangle with Nicholas."
Daisy's voice choked up a bit as she continued, "Aunt Linda, I'm scared. I'm afraid Nicholas will fall for her again, and that she'll hurt Nicholas once more."
"And Josie, Caroline might use Josie and hurt her."
Linda's expression changed. Listening to Daisy, any goodwill she had for Caroline vanished.
"Don't be afraid." Linda gently patted Daisy's shoulder. "With me on behalf the Wolf family and the Watson family, she won't succeed."
"After today, Josie will be your daughter. If you truly love Josie, no one can take her away, not even her biological mother."
Daisy leaned on Linda's shoulder. "Aunt Linda, you're so good to me."
In Daisy's heart, Linda was like a mother to her, and she was like a daughter to Linda.
Linda had been distraught over the loss of her daughter, nearly having several accidents. So Daniel had asked Daisy to accompany Linda.
Daisy was the same age as Linda's daughter, and during that time, Linda had genuinely loved Daisy as her own. It was also because of Daisy's companionship that Linda gradually overcame the pain of losing her daughter and regained her strength.
Linda looked at Daisy with affection, her mind drifting.
'If my daughter were still alive, would she be like Daisy, still acting spoiled and affectionate no matter how old she got?'
