Chapter 561 Seeking Help

Caroline turned heads the moment she rolled in with Nicholas.

At the door, Nicholas picked up on something weird with Caroline.

He grabbed her hand, which was resting on his wheelchair, and it was freezing.

"You cold?" he asked, looking back at her.

Caroline shook her head.

It wasn't the cold; it was like a bad trip down memory lane to when she came looking for Nicholas and Daisy, acting all high and mighty, and got totally shut down.

The Watson Mansion was the last place she wanted to be.

But here she was, rolling in as Nicholas's plus-one.

Josie had been crashing here for the past six years.

In the big ol' living room, folks were mingling and chatting, and someone spotted Nicholas and came over to say hey.

Caroline shot Nicholas a reassuring look.

Not sure what Nicholas had asked Caroline, he had to put his doubts on hold and turned to chat with the person who approached.

Everyone was kinda shocked that Nicholas brought Caroline to his kid's one-month bash. Some folks started whispering about Nicholas's earlier statement about his thing with Daisy.

"Think it's 'cause of Caroline that Nicholas didn't go through with the wedding with Daisy?"

"Maybe, but Daisy still popped out his kid."

"The Watsons and the Wolfs are a hot mess."

"Bet there's gonna be some drama tonight. Check out Daisy's face."

Daisy's face went ice-cold when she saw Caroline.

Tonight was supposed to be all about Trevor's one-month birthday, a day she was stoked about. She wanted Caroline to be jealous of her happiness, but Caroline shouldn't have shown up with Nicholas.

Daisy thought, 'And Nicholas, bringing Caroline here for Trevor's party? Seriously?'

Daisy's temper had been off the charts since having the baby, and she wanted to kick Caroline out right then and there. But Mia stopped her.

"Chill. Let's get through the party first, then we'll deal with Caroline."

Daisy wasn't having it.

Mia said, "With this big party tonight, Aragorn won't let Caroline cause trouble. Relax. It's actually good Caroline's here. Let her see that the Watsons will only see you as Nicholas's wife, and she'll always be the side chick."

Daisy grinned. Caroline was just a side chick who'd never get any respect. As long as she was recognized by the Watsons, Josie would always be the unwanted kid.

She seemed to forget that Nicholas and Caroline were the real deal, and she had only split them up for over six years with the family marriage agreement.

Mia had Daisy carry Trevor over to find Nicholas.

Nicholas was chatting with some folks when Daisy slowly walked over.

"Nicholas." Daisy beamed, and Trevor in her arms looked around curiously, not scared of the new faces.

Caroline saw Trevor in her arms. She hadn't gotten a good look at Trevor at the rehab center last time, but today she saw him clearly.

Trevor's eyes and nose were like Daisy's, but his mouth looked kinda familiar.

Aragorn was all about Trevor, judging by the blingy necklace and the pricey bracelets on the kid.

Caroline sneered to herself. Josie was Nicholas's kid, but she got treated like dirt by the Watsons, while Daisy's son, who didn't even have Watson blood, was living it up thanks to Aragorn's spoiling.

Nicholas ignored Daisy, who bit her lip and pushed through the crowd, plopping Trevor into Nicholas's lap.

"Nicholas, you haven't held Trevor yet. Give it a shot."

Nicholas had to take Trevor, or the kid would’ve hit the floor.

His face went ice-cold.

Whether it was his scary look or the frosty vibe he gave off, Trevor started bawling.

"Nicholas, calm Trevor down. It's his first time seeing his dad, and he's a bit freaked," Daisy said, not even trying to take Trevor back.

She was hoping to spark some fatherly love in Nicholas, thinking he might like her more.

Nicholas was momentarily thrown by Trevor, then looked to Caroline for help.

Everyone around was glued to the scene.

Paul heard the crying from a distance and was about to help Nicholas when Diana suddenly stumbled and fell into his arms.

Diana let out a small yelp and instinctively clung to Paul.

Paul had no choice but to steady her.

"You okay?" he asked, trying to be polite.

"I'm fine. Just slipped a bit," Diana said, blushing. She was so close to Paul she could smell the mix of alcohol and his unique scent, which was kinda intoxicating.

Paul wasn't interested in dealing with Diana but still helped her to a chair like a gentleman.

Meanwhile, Caroline wanted to call Sharpe to hold Trevor, but he was MIA. Seeing Daisy had no intention of taking Trevor back and no one else was stepping up, Caroline moved in front of Nicholas and picked up Trevor.

Like magic, Trevor stopped crying as soon as he was in Caroline's arms.

A tear hung from Trevor's long lashes, and his rosy cheeks were so cute, it melted Caroline's heart.

Her Josie must've been this adorable when she was little.

"Caroline, let go of my son!"

Seeing Trevor calm down in Caroline's arms, Daisy lost it and lunged to grab Trevor.

Caroline, worried Daisy might hurt Trevor, held him tight and dodged.

Daisy missed and almost fell.

She got even angrier.

She swung her hand, ripping off half of Caroline's scarf and scratching her shoulder with her sharp nails.

Caroline cried out in pain. Two angry red scratches marred her smooth skin, each throbbing with pain.

"Daisy Wolf!" Nicholas shouted, pulling out a folding cane from his wheelchair to hit Daisy.

"Stop!" Mia and Michael rushed over.

They shielded Daisy, and Nicholas's face was livid with anger.

Aragorn and Gummidge also came over.

"What happened?" Aragorn hadn't seen the earlier scene.

With red-rimmed eyes, Daisy immediately accused Caroline, "Dad, Trevor is in Caroline's hands. She wants to hurt him."

Aragorn looked sternly at Caroline, who was holding Trevor, and signaled to Gummidge.

Gummidge walked over. "Miss Clark, please let me hold Trevor."
