Chapter 518 Patricia Got into a Car Accident

Ruth asked, "What about Sophie? I heard she had a tough time at Fusion Dynamics."

Even though Celeste was an old friend, Ruth needed an explanation for Sophie being bullied.

Celeste felt guilty. "It's my fault. I didn't catch the conflict between Patricia and Sophie early enough, and it got out of hand."

"How's that your fault? It's the Browns' issue," Ruth was about to dive into the drama between Sophie and the Browns when Celeste's phone rang.

It was David. Celeste always answered his calls, no exceptions.

"Mom, something happened to Patricia," David said.

"What happened?" Celeste asked, her heart racing.

"I've called Colin to take you to the hospital."

"Okay." Celeste was really worried. Susan's only child couldn't be in danger.

Colin rushed in to help Celeste and said goodbye to Ruth.

Seeing them leave in a hurry, Ruth told Betty, "Tell James to get the car ready; we're going to the hospital too."

The three kids chimed in, "Great-grandma, we want to go too."

With the kids insisting, Ruth had no choice but to take them along.

Patricia had a car accident right in front of the hospital.

When David and Jennifer arrived, they saw the accident scene at the entrance.

Patricia was rushed to the emergency room, and Ella was crying anxiously at the door.

When Celeste and Colin arrived, Ella immediately grabbed Celeste. "Celeste, you have to save Patricia, she..."

"What happened?" Celeste's voice shook, and her hands trembled.

"Patricia said she did something wrong. She hurt Sophie in a moment of confusion and wanted to apologize. She was in such a hurry crossing the street that she got hit by a car." Ella added, crying, "She's in there now, and we don't know if she'll make it."

Celeste swayed, and Colin quickly supported her. "Grandma, don't worry, everything will be fine."

Jennifer also came over to comfort Celeste.

David stood solemnly on the side, his brows furrowed.

He stared at Ella, making her uneasy. She didn't dare look up, afraid David would figure something out.

"What's the situation now?" Ruth appeared with the three kids.

The kids greeted David and the others one by one.

"Ruth, why are you here too?" Celeste was helped to sit on a chair.

Ruth replied, "You left in such a hurry, I thought something must have happened. I came to see if I could help."

Ruth's gaze fell on Ella, who had no choice but to greet her, "Mrs. Ruth Lancaster."

"Is Patricia inside?" Ruth asked.

"Yes."

"What happened to her?"

"She got hit by a car," Ella replied simply.

"How could she get hit by a car just like that?"

"She..." Ella cursed inwardly, 'This old hag Ruth is here to cause trouble again.'

In front of the Blackwood family, she had no choice but to answer, "She was going to apologize to Sophie, but she didn't see clearly when crossing the street and got hit by a car."

"What? Are you trying to blame Sophie for this?" Ruth's eyes narrowed, and her presence became more intense.

Ella quickly denied it. "I didn't."

"You better not."

Ella was still scared of Ruth. When they forced Sophie to marry an old man, Ruth had dealt with them harshly. Even though the Brown family had grown with the Blackwood family's help, they still couldn't match the Lancasters.

The Browns couldn't afford to cross the Lancasters.

Ella could only stand aside.

Before Patricia came out, Logan arrived with Chloe.

Now, the elders of the three families were all gathered.

As soon as Chloe arrived, she started crying loudly. "Patricia, my dear Patricia, how did this happen? If we had known Patricia would end up like this with the Blackwoods, we wouldn't have given her back to you."

Chloe's crying was heart-wrenching.

A nurse opened the door and shouted, "This is a hospital, please keep quiet. If you disturb the doctors, you'll bear the consequences!"

Logan and Ella quickly supported Chloe. "Mom, please calm down."

Ruth rolled her eyes. "She's not dead yet, and you're already mourning."

Chloe glared at Ruth. "You witch, you must be hoping Patricia dies."

Ruth shot back, "I didn't say that, you did. You're cursing your own granddaughter."

Logan, hearing Ruth's words, got nervous. He was afraid if Chloe and Ruth argued more, something might slip out. He quickly stopped Chloe and whispered in her ear, "Mom, think of the bigger picture."

Chloe had to swallow her anger.

She had long disliked Ruth. If it weren't for Ruth's interference, they would have married Sophie off to that old man years ago. The Brown family would have received a huge investment and wouldn't have had to scrimp and save for years, causing her to miss out on many beauty treatments and age a few years.

So what if Ruth was rich? She wasn't in good health either.

Logan glanced at the Blackwoods and saw that they were all worried about Patricia, not paying attention to the argument between Chloe and Ruth. He breathed a sigh of relief.

David's gaze seemed unfocused, but he was actually observing all the Browns' expressions.

He noticed Logan's moment of tension and the whispered words between Logan and Chloe.

The Browns had big problems!

An hour later, Patricia was wheeled out.

She had a shocking wound on her forehead, and her face was extremely pale, making her look pitiful.

"Doctor, how is she?"

The doctor replied, "She has a head injury again. We'll have to see if she wakes up this afternoon; otherwise, it could be dangerous."

Colin asked, "What kind of danger?"

"She might never wake up," the doctor said.

Hearing this, Celeste was greatly shocked and leaned back. Fortunately, Jennifer and Colin were there to support her, preventing her from falling.

Chloe was also anxious. "Patricia, my Patricia..."

The scene became chaotic.

Patricia was taken to a ward, and everyone rushed in. Ella took the opportunity to slip away.

The three kids noticed something and exchanged glances. Ethan secretly followed her.
