Chapter 58 Mrs. Foster's Disapproval
"How did Ethan and Emma find their way here?" Sophia searched for Sam's figure.
"A little boy told us that Mommy was here, and that she's injured," Emma said, her worry almost turning into tears.
Little boy? Emma must be referring to Sam. It's surprising that the three little ones encountered each other in this situation, yet they don't recognize each other.
Sophia wanted to correct Emma, telling her that he's not a little boy but her brother, but now wasn't the right time.
Sophia masked her inner bitterness and was assisted by the landlord back to the inn.
When she took off her shoes, she noticed the swelling around her ankle. The landlord handed Sophia a jar of medicated oil.
Sophia clenched her teeth and endured the pain, diligently massaging her foot for over half an hour.
Ethan and Emma stood beside her, full of sympathy.
"Mommy, does it hurt?" Emma asked Sophia in a tone that mirrored how Sophia usually asked her if she was in pain.
Sophia smiled lightly at the children. "Yes, it hurts, but Mommy can bear it."
"We're sorry. It's our fault for running around and making Mommy come looking for us," Ethan lowered his head.
Sophia freed one hand and patted his little head.
"Mommy twisted her ankle on her own. It's not your fault," she said. If anyone should be blamed, it should be that scoundrel.
"Mommy~"
The two adorable little ones hugged Sophia, one on each side.
Sophia smiled, but her mind was occupied with another matter.
Gabriel is here, so close to the two children. She needs to return to City Beijing as soon as possible before they might accidentally meet. But now she couldn't leave, and her current condition wouldn't allow her to drive. She could only take the bus tomorrow morning.
Sophia made up her mind not to let the two children go to any performances tonight.
The two adorable little ones obediently stayed in the inn with their mommy.
...
Gabriel returned from the woods with a dark face. The servant came forward and poured him a glass of water.
I wonder if that woman went back.
Damn it, he's even worrying about her! She's clearly an ungrateful woman. He willingly carried her back, yet she didn't appreciate it at all.
He must be cursed. Despite her obvious disdain, he was still drawn to her. What's wrong with him?
Gabriel felt more enraged the more he thought about it. He downed a big glass of water, his facial muscles tensing, and his thin lips pressed tightly.
Tiffany entered and saw him sitting expressionless, surrounded by a heavy atmosphere that made one feel oppressed.
Her expression changed several times as she slowly walked over and gently spoke, "Gabriel, weren't you going to find Sam? Where is Sam?"
Gabriel's expression slightly froze.
He was truly too angry, forgetting that he had gone out to find Sam.
He stood up, intending to go out again, when Sam's small figure entered. When he saw his father, a hint of guilt flashed through his heart, and his eyes flickered a few times.
"Sam, where did you go? Your dad and I have been looking for you all afternoon." Tiffany immediately rushed over with concern and checked Sam from left to right.
To anyone, her caring expression seemed thorough and genuine.
She is very nice to Sam.
The moment Sam saw Tiffany, his heart immediately closed off. It felt like a wall had been erected in his mind, no matter what Tiffany said, he had no reaction at all.
Tiffany had long been accustomed to his soulless appearance. It would be best if he could stay like this forever so she wouldn't have to worry about Gabriel's fortune being inherited by someone like him.
In the future, she and Gabriel would have a healthy child, regardless of gender, and she would carefully raise them to be the successor of the Lancaster family!
It would be best if she could conceive tonight.
In a moment of lowered head, a spark swiftly flashed in Tiffany's eyes.
There was a performance at the mansion in the evening, and Sam wasn't very interested. But he knew Ethan and Emma were going, so after dinner, he took Gabriel's hand to express his desire to go watch the performance.
Gabriel was slightly surprised. His son never liked such lively events, and now he suddenly volunteered to go watch the performance.
Indeed, as Alfred had said, he was starting to change.
Gabriel would certainly indulge his son.
It was cool at night, so Gabriel fetched a coat for Sam, Tiffany hated it to death in her heart. She shouldn't have let Sam interfere!
On the surface, Tiffany appeared to be the virtuous wife and caring mother, even bringing two bottles of water for the father and son.
The performance hadn't started yet, but quite a few people had already gathered. Sam, from a distance, didn't feel like going anymore.
He didn't like crowded places.
Fearing that the crowd would disperse them, Gabriel simply carried Sam.
Sam obediently clung to his father's neck and noticed a bite mark on his father's neck, lightly touching it with his hand.
Gabriel removed his hand.
"Don't worry, it doesn't hurt."
Sam nodded lightly and stopped looking.
Meanwhile, Tiffany, because she had seen that bite mark, felt waves of turmoil in her heart and couldn't calm down for a long time.
Gabriel also didn't like crowded places, so he found a corner and prepared to lift Sam onto his shoulders so he could see.
Sam's eyes searched around, hoping to find Ethan and Emma's figures.
He did see several children, but not Ethan and Emma.
Suddenly, his phone watch lit up and Sam saw a message from Ethan.
So they didn't come.
And they also canceled their appointment with him tomorrow.
Sam thought they must be worried since their mommy had twisted her ankle.
Since they weren't there, Sam gently patted Gabriel's shoulder, indicating that he wanted to go back.
Gabriel followed his son's heart and went back.
The villa was large, with many rooms. Tiffany had originally arranged for Sam to have his own room, but Gabriel was worried that his son wouldn't be used to it, so he planned to have him sleep in his room.
Tiffany had no objections and smiled, "I'll help Sam take a bath."
She took Sam's hand and entered the bathroom.
Not long after, she came out. Gabriel was sitting on the sofa, using his
Gabriel handled some tasks and when he saw her, he asked, "Are you done washing?"
So fast.
"Sam said he wanted to wash by himself." She entered the kitchen and poured a glass of water for Gabriel. "Tomorrow, we'll go to the farm to play."
Gabriel nodded lightly and took a sip from the glass.
After Sam finished showering and when Gabriel wanted to carry him to the bedroom, he refused to go to Gabriel's room.
"Don't want to sleep with Daddy?" Gabriel looked deeply at his son.
He always felt that after Sam went out and came back, he seemed much quieter than during the day. Could it be that he was scared?
Sam shook his head.
"Alright then, if you're scared in the middle of the night, come find Daddy." Gabriel had no choice but to carry him to a separate room to sleep.
Sam obediently nodded, then lay down and closed his eyes to sleep.
His slender and dense eyelashes trembled gently. When Daddy left, he opened his phoenix-like eyes, sat up, and crossed his arms. In the darkness, his small body trembled lightly.
He was actually scared, he wanted to sleep with Daddy.
But Mrs. Foster didn't allow it.
After a long, long time, Sam took out his phone watch and called Ethan.
Gabriel was unaware of all this. He was thinking about Sam's behavior throughout the day. In the afternoon, Sam went out to play alone and when he came back, Gabriel could clearly feel that his mood was good. But after going out again in the evening and returning, his mood became worse.
After showering, he became even more low-spirited.
