Chapter 339 Helping Daddy
Kathy felt very uncomfortable. She tried every way to find Jennifer at the hotel, but she didn't even see Jennifer's shadow.
Kathy learned that Fusion Dynamics Corporation was very strict in selecting people, and only the first-place winner met the standards among the top three in the competition.
Kathy knew Sophia had no chance, and she also knew that she had no connection with Fusion Dynamics Corporation, so she focused on the company's new brand. But then it was snatched away by Sophia again.
Kathy was so angry that she couldn't do anything about Sophia.
Sophia met Kathy in the elevator after work.
Kathy stared at Sophia, but Sophia pretended not to see her. No matter what others did, Sophia didn't care. She just wanted to go home quickly to see her three children.
They were entangled with Ruth at home.
"Great-grandma, Josie is really pitiful. Her mommy pinched her all over, and she has bruises everywhere." Emma also pointed to her waist. "Here, it's swollen so big. And Josie's mommy never gives her snacks, doesn't buy her princess dresses, doesn't take her out to play. Great-grandma, please help Josie."
Ruth helplessly patted the child's head.
Paternity testing could be a big deal or a trivial matter, and this was someone else's family matter.
"Great-grandma." Ethan also came forward and held Ruth's hand. "Can you bear to watch Josie continue to be abused by her mommy?"
Ruth softened, thinking about a cute child being abused by an adult; she felt both angry and heartbroken. But even if the paternity test was done, there was nothing she could do.
Emma said, "If Josie is not really her mommy's own child, we will help Josie find her biological mommy. As long as Josie returns to her biological mommy, she won't be abused anymore."
Ruth lovingly touched the child's cheek.
"My children, why are you all so kind," Ruth said.
"Great-grandma!" Emma coquettishly.
"Okay. I'll help with this favor," Ruth said.
"Thank you, great-grandma." Emma happily hugged Ruth and kissed her.
Then she ran to get two bags, one containing Daisy's hair and the other containing Josie's hair.
Ruth handed them to Betty. "Go find James to handle this; be careful not to be discovered."
Betty replied, "Yes."
Sophia and Gabriel entered the elevator one after the other. Sophia subconsciously took two steps back, and Gabriel noticed her movement. His eyes darkened, and he pressed the floor button.
In the cramped elevator, the atmosphere was silent. Sophia was carrying a bag full of groceries, looking like she was going to make a sumptuous dinner.
When they reached the floor, Sophia walked out of the elevator first, heading towards her place. She quickly opened the door, went in quickly, and didn't want to stay with Gabriel for another second.
Gabriel frowned, looking gloomy, and opened the door to the next room with a lonely figure.
The children and Ruth were watching TV in the living room. When they saw Gabriel return, Ruth didn't even raise her eyebrows, and the three children continued to play as usual.
"Grandma, I'm back." Gabriel changed his shoes and walked in.
Ruth responded faintly.
Gabriel also sat on the carpet and picked up the building blocks the children were playing with. "I'll play with you guys."
Ethan swept the building blocks in front of him and turned his body, clearly not wanting to interact with him.
Gabriel didn't give up. "Want to play with a drone?"
Ethan was a bit tempted, but he pretended not to be interested.
Gabriel got up, went to the study, took out a new drone, and asked Emma, "Want to play?"
"I kind of want to," Emma said.
Gabriel said, "Come here. I'll teach you."
Emma hesitated for a moment, but her playful nature won, so she walked over, and Gabriel led her to the balcony.
"This is the remote control. Press this to make the drone take off; this one is for taking photos; this one controls the speed and adjusts the direction," Gabriel patiently explained.
Emma was smart and remembered after hearing it once.
Next was the actual operation. It was Emma's first time playing with such a high-end drone. When it took off, she held her breath nervously.
Watching the drone slowly take off under her control, then fly far, far away. "It's flying, it's flying," Emma joyfully exclaimed.
Gabriel indulgently watched Emma and caught a glimpse of Ethan constantly looking over here; a smile unconsciously appeared on his face, and he said to Emma, "Emma, there's something fun. Do you want to share it with your brother?"
Emma turned to call Ethan and Sam. Soon, the three children were playing with the drone together.
The children stood on the balcony playing, and the smell of food wafted over from next door. Emma sniffed and tossed the remote to Ethan.
"Mommy made something delicious," Emma said.
The children ran off like a gust of wind to the next room.
Gabriel felt helpless.
Ethan handed the remote to Sam and followed them to the next room.
Sam stood there blankly; the smell wafted over them, and he swallowed his saliva. Sophia made his favorite dish tonight.
He also wanted to find Sophia. But the drone hadn't returned home yet. Sam looked at Gabriel for help.
Gabriel sighed inwardly, took the remote control, pressed a button, and the drone began to find its way back home on its own.
"Sam." Sam, who was about to go find his mommy, stopped and turned back, looking at Gabriel in confusion.
"Come here; I have something to tell you."
Sam had to come back.
Gabriel lowered his voice. "I'm hungry too. If you all go to eat, I'll be hungry, and my stomach will ache."
Sam felt sorry for Gabriel and urgently gestured, "Let Betty make food for Daddy."
"Betty has been tired all day and should rest well," Gabriel said.
Sam was puzzled; what should he do then?
Gabriel suggested, "If I can go with you all to eat, I won't be hungry, and my stomach won't ache."
Sam thought it made sense.
Gabriel continued, "But your mommy doesn't welcome me."
Sam remembered that the atmosphere between Gabriel and Sophia was always strange when they met, and they often quarreled.
"Do you want me to join you for dinner?" Gabriel asked.
Sam nodded; he wanted Sophia and Gabriel to be together.
"Then help me."
Sam tilted his head slightly, gesturing, "How can I help?"
"Like this..."
Ruth sat on the sofa, listening intently.
Ten minutes later, everyone went to the next room for dinner, leaving Gabriel sitting in the lonely room, feeling very lonely.
During dinner, Sam helped Sophia set the table, and he deliberately set an extra pair.
"There's an extra one." Sophia picked up the extra pair to put it back.
Sam pulled her.
"Mommy, I want to invite Daddy to dinner." He gestured.
Sophia gently said, "Your daddy is busy with work; he doesn't have time."
"If daddy doesn't eat, his stomach will ache," Sam gestured.
Sophia didn't care if Gabriel was in pain or not, saying, "He can eat by himself."
"Daddy can't cook, and there's no one at home to cook for Daddy. Mommy, Daddy is so pitiful," Sam adds.
Gabriel didn't feel pitiful at all. If no one cooked, he could eat out. He was so rich he could eat whatever he wanted.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
Sam eagerly ran to open the door. Sophia peeked and saw Gabriel.
She quickly wiped her hands and was about to go and drive Gabriel away.
However, Sam had already pulled Gabriel in.
"Mommy, Daddy's here." Sam was beaming with a shallow smile, seeming particularly happy because Gabriel had come.
Sophia was stunned.
