Chapter 495 Fake

Daniel and Diana Scott had no parent-child bond!

Diana Scott wasn't his biological daughter!

She wasn't his daughter!

The thin paper fluttered to the ground.

Daniel stood there, stunned, then collapsed onto the sofa.

If this Diana wasn't his daughter, where was the real Diana?

Daniel remembered the orphanage register, where another "Diana" was circled.

The circled names were all kids who died in that big fire.

Could that Diana be his daughter?

Had his daughter died in the fire?

Daniel slumped, covering his face with his hands. Pain and sorrow aged him instantly.

He couldn't accept this.

The phone kept ringing, but he ignored it.

Linda couldn't reach Daniel all day and got worried, so she went to check on him.

Opening the door, she saw Daniel lying on the sofa, seemingly asleep.

In this cold weather, he was just lying there.

Linda sighed, grabbed a blanket from the bedroom, and covered him.

Seeing the wrinkles and dark circles on his face, Linda felt a pang of heartache.

She reached out to smooth his furrowed brow.

Daniel opened his eyes.

"Sorry, did I wake you?" Linda adjusted the blanket.

Daniel grabbed her hand.

"What's wrong?" Linda sensed something was off and asked softly.

"Diana." Daniel began, but Linda cut him off excitedly.

"You don't need to worry about finding a match anymore. Caroline agreed to do the matching test with Diana when she gets back."

"What?"

Linda couldn't hide her joy and told Daniel about Caroline's agreement. "Once Diana gets better, I want to take her on trips to all the places we used to go. I want to make up for all the love we've missed. And I have so much jewelry to leave her. We must hold a grand banquet to announce Diana's identity to the world."

Watching Linda's dreams for Diana, Daniel's heart sank.

They had sacrificed so much to find their daughter, especially Linda. After their daughter went missing, she was in a daze and almost fell ill.

Though she got better, she still woke up from nightmares and cried in secret.

Linda had accepted Diana in her heart. If he told her now that this Diana wasn't their daughter, Linda would be devastated.

If their daughter was really dead, then Linda...

Daniel's mind was in chaos.

"Don't worry, Caroline will definitely donate bone marrow to our daughter." Linda tried to comfort him.

Daniel grabbed her hand tightly.

"I know. I'll check with Blake later. If possible, let's have Diana return for the matching test."

He couldn't tell Linda the truth; it would destroy her.

In a fancy restaurant in City B, Kathy and Patricia sat in a private room. Kathy was buttering up Patricia. "Thanks, Ms. Brown. Without you, I wouldn't have gotten into Fusion Dynamics Corporation."

Kathy handed over a gift.

Patricia glanced at it. After experiencing the Blackwood family's wealth, these gifts meant little to her. But receiving them showed her influence.

It meant she could control more people.

"How did Sophia get into Fusion Dynamics without the selection process?" Kathy asked.

Patricia replied, "She's Jennifer's goddaughter. Jennifer just had to say the word."

Hearing this, Kathy lowered her head, her eyes dark and unreadable.

The next day, Sophia arrived at Fusion Dynamics and noticed the other designers giving her strange looks.

To avoid trouble, Sophia called Jennifer "Ms. Johnson" like everyone else. Her status as Jennifer's goddaughter wasn't widely known, so only a few people at Fusion Dynamics were aware.

Sophia ignored the looks until someone mocked her.

"Some people just rely on connections, flattering their way in without even going through the selection process. It's a pity for those of us who don't suck up."

This person spoke loudly, making sure Sophia heard.

Sophia had faced public scrutiny before. She calmly got some water and returned to her seat.

Seeing Sophia ignore her, the person got even angrier but didn't dare confront Jennifer, so she directed her anger at Sophia.

She secretly incited other trainees to isolate Sophia.

Today's assignment required partners. Everyone paired up, except Sophia, who stood alone.

Jennifer noticed and asked, "Is anyone willing to partner with Sophia?"

Larry saw no one chose Sophia and was about to ditch his partner, but his partner held him back. "You and I have the most compatible styles. We can only complete the assignment together."

Larry didn't care.

"Amanda, you partner with Sophia," Jennifer said, seeing Amanda Lawson also without a partner.

Amanda replied, "I refuse, Ms. Johnson. Ms. Kelly and I don't get along. If we partner up, we'll end up fighting."

Not get along?

They hadn't even spoken much.

It was clear Amanda would rather work alone than partner with Sophia and just made up an excuse.

Jennifer frowned, wondering if Sophia had offended these people somehow.

"I'll partner with Sophia," Patricia stood up.

Jennifer was surprised but pleased Patricia stepped up.

Although Patricia was a beginner and not as skilled as the experienced designers, she was making progress.

"Sophia, I might not be much help, but I can assist you," Patricia said playfully.

Sophia forced a smile. In front of Jennifer, she wouldn't argue with Patricia, as it would only make things difficult for Jennifer.

She didn't refuse to partner with Patricia.

And Larry, indeed, would work better with his current partner.
