Chapter 451 Opening Up

Gabriel was totally focused on Sophia and noticed her expression change right away.

"What's up?" he asked, looking worried.

Sophia put her phone away and helped him sit on the bed.

"Nothing, I just have to go to the parent-teacher conference this afternoon."

"I'll come too," he said, having never attended one before.

Sophia replied, "You're not well enough to be discharged yet."

Gabriel looked unhappy, so Sophia quickly promised, "You can go to the next one."

"Alright."

Gabriel knew his condition; pushing himself would just worry his family.

After leaving the room, she took out her phone and read Caroline's message carefully.

The woman’s identity was revealed: Marlowe Murphy.

Marlowe used to be a barmaid and was quite attractive. Dylan met her while out with Gabriel for business. They then had an affair.

After getting together with Dylan, Marlowe quit her bar job and started a beauty business. It grew from a small shop to three branches, expanding into the medical aesthetics industry.

In just three years, her business boomed. If she wasn’t super talented, she must’ve had help.

But would someone like Marlowe really be with a bodyguard and have his kid?

If it wasn’t true love, there had to be some other motive.

Marlowe was now seven months pregnant, and Dylan had a wife who was a genuine, honest housewife and had already given him two daughters.

Reading this, Sophia was fuming. She was angry for Dylan’s wife.

'Does she know? Is she silently enduring it? If she doesn’t know, should I tell her? A housewife with no income and two daughters—what could she do?' Sophia thought about a lot and wasn’t sure if she should spill the beans.

If she did, it might tip Dylan off.

After Sophia left, Gabriel’s gentle expression faded. He leaned back, thinking about Sophia’s frown when she looked at her phone.

She must’ve seen something upsetting.

Could Tiffany have sent her some nonsense again?

Worried about her, Gabriel took out his phone, opened his chat with Sophia, typed a message, revised it several times, and finally sent it.

Sophia was driving with a frown when her phone buzzed. She stopped at a red light and glanced at it.

Gabriel: [Sophie, everything I've told you is sincere. Don't believe anyone trying to mislead you. If you have questions, just ask. I'll always be honest with you.]

Sophia found it odd. Why would he suddenly send her a message like that?

When the light turned green, she tossed her phone onto the passenger seat and focused on driving.

In the afternoon, Sophia arrived at the school and met Caroline at the gate. They went in together and saw that Nicholas was there too.

Sophia gave Caroline a teasing look.

Caroline whispered, "I didn’t ask him to come; maybe Josie told him."

Sophia nodded. "Are you going in with him?"

"No, I want to go in with you," Caroline said, gripping Sophia's hand and ignoring Nicholas.

Apart from their connection through Josie, Caroline and Nicholas had no other relationship.

If they had to define it, they were acquainted strangers.

Even though Caroline tried to keep her distance, she always found herself getting closer to Nicholas.

Thinking about the night they watched a horror movie and how she instinctively sought comfort in his arms, she felt like kicking herself.

There were no such things as ghosts!

The parent-teacher meeting at the start of the school year was mostly for introductions. The kids at this school all came from wealthy or influential families.

The teachers arranged the seats, and Sophia sat with her three kids, while Caroline and Nicholas sat with Josie in front of them.

Josie turned to talk to Emma, and Caroline turned to talk to Sophia.

Ethan and Sam sat quietly; Ethan was reading a complex English book, and Sam was daydreaming.

"Hello, parents and students."

The meeting officially began.

Nicholas, being a high-profile figure, drew some attention, and people whispered among themselves, also glancing at Caroline. After all, Nicholas had recently clarified his relationship status on social media.

It turned out Nicholas already had a partner.

No one took photos, though; these parents weren't foolish. Nicholas was not someone they could afford to offend.

Besides Nicholas, the triplets also attracted a lot of attention. Consequently, Sophia also garnered some interest, and even the teachers seemed to look at her with admiration.

The meeting ended around four, and the parents took their children home.

Some people tried to approach Nicholas but were stopped by Sharpe.

"Josie, come play at my house," Emma said.

Josie nodded and then looked at her parents.

Caroline said, "Go ahead, I'll pick you up later."

Nicholas also nodded slightly.

"Caroline, Uncle Nicholas, goodbye," Emma said playfully, waving.

"Goodbye, Emma."

Nicholas waved silently in response.

Sophia left with the four kids, and Caroline got into her car.

Nicholas observed her, wanting to say something but ultimately just watching her drive away.

Caroline had a performance at an engagement party tonight and needed to prepare for it. She went home to change, put on makeup, and ate something quickly.

At around seven PM, she arrived at the hotel.

The engagement party was lively, filled with wealthy families and business elites. You could tell their status from their attire and demeanor.

Caroline went to the stage and began playing a cheerful tune on her violin. As soon as the music started, people were drawn in, pausing their conversations to listen quietly.

"Isn't that Caroline? She's very famous abroad," someone recognized her.

"I think so. I've heard her play abroad. Honestly, she's better than any violinist I've ever heard."

Most people didn't know Caroline, so they listened as a few people talked about her achievements abroad.

People in high society enjoyed refined activities like music and art in their free time.

"She hasn't performed in a long time. I didn't expect to hear her here."

Nicholas listened to the familiar melody, his eyes fixed on Caroline without blinking.
