Chapter 466 Being Hugged
"What do you want?" Sophia glared at Gabriel.
Gabriel blocked her way, his head slightly lowered, looking guilty. "I'm sorry, I was wrong."
Sophia didn't want to pay him any attention. She had been so worried when she heard he had fainted last night, only to find out he was faking it.
It made her furious.
She tried to walk around him, but Gabriel grabbed her hand and pulled her into an embrace.
Sophia frowned deeply, feeling no romantic flutter, only disdain.
"I was wrong," Gabriel said, looking deeply into her eyes. He deliberately lowered his voice to make it sound more alluring, then slowly approached her and explained, "I just didn't want you to spend time with that guy, so I used this method to trick you into coming back."
Sophia's eyes widened. She had thought Gabriel might be trying to win her sympathy, but she never expected it was out of jealousy!
Her heart suddenly skipped a few beats.
"That guy?" she asked.
"Jake," Gabriel said, annoyed.
"I was having dinner with Colin last night," Sophia said, exasperated.
"Colin's back?" Gabriel's eyes flashed with surprise, realizing he had misunderstood out of jealousy last night.
This was awkward.
Gabriel slowly withdrew his hand from the wall, not daring to look Sophia in the eye.
Sophia gently pushed him away and said seriously, "And Jake is my friend. He has saved me many times. You may not like him, but I can't be ungrateful and cut ties with him."
Gabriel was silent for a few seconds, then said, "I understand. I will never deceive you like this again. Can you forgive me?"
His deep eyes were filled with anticipation, as if stars were twinkling in them.
Sophia nodded involuntarily.
Gabriel immediately smiled and hugged Sophia, but quickly let go.
"Let's go downstairs for breakfast."
He reached for Sophia's hand, but she avoided it.
She felt things were getting more ambiguous with Gabriel!
This wasn't good. If this continued, she would really fall for him again.
Sophia felt irritated inside but remained cool on the surface.
Gabriel wasn't discouraged. Last night, when Sophia heard he had fainted, she rushed back immediately. Although she quickly realized he was faking it, her actions spoke volumes.
She still cared about him.
Gabriel was in a great mood all day, and Alex and Harrison noticed his constant smile.
Harrison whispered to Alex, "Doesn't he look like he's in love?"
Alex replied, "Kind of."
Harrison's eyes lit up. "Could it be that he and Sophia have made up?"
Alex said, "It's possible."
Harrison said, "While he's in a good mood, I think I can get that $30,000 expense reimbursed."
Alex said, "I have some expenses I want reimbursed too."
The two exchanged a glance and quickly went to submit their requests, which Gabriel promptly waved off and rejected.
Harrison, feeling disillusioned, went to find Sophia. "Have you and Gabriel made up or not?"
Sophia, toying with her food, said, "No."
"Not yet? It seems Gabriel isn't trying hard enough."
Sophia continued eating.
Many people in the cafeteria were looking their way. Harrison took a few bites and then ran to find Gabriel. "Gabriel, let me teach you a few more tricks to win over your love."
Patricia arrived at the front desk of the Lancaster Group. She was dressed in expensive clothes and wore a diamond necklace worth tens of thousands of dollars, with matching earrings. Evenher sunglasses were encrusted with diamonds.
She crossed her arms, showing off a dazzling diamond ring.
The receptionists were slightly amazed by Patricia's extravagance but remained composed.
"Who are you here to see?" the receptionist asked politely.
"I'm here to see Mr. Lancaster," Patricia said, raising her chin and looking down her nose at the receptionist.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"Do I need an appointment?" Patricia asked disdainfully.
"Of course, anyone who wants to see Mr. Lancaster needs to make an appointment in advance. Without an appointment, you can't go in."
Patricia frowned, took off her sunglasses, and glared.
"I'm Mr. Lancaster's sister. I don't need an appointment. Let me in," Patricia said arrogantly.
She was Sophia's cousin, so she considered herself Gabriel's sister too.
"I'm sorry, I can't do that," the receptionist said politely.
"Do you know that I can get you fired right now?" Patricia interrupted angrily.
"Sorry, if you'd like, you can call Mr. Lancaster," the receptionist said, still not letting her in.
Patricia was so angry she wanted to slap her.
"Is there a package for me?" A familiar voice asked.
Patricia turned her head and was stunned to see Sophia. For a moment, she couldn't speak.
Sophia was really alive!
Although her mother had told her many times that Sophia wasn't dead, she couldn't believe it until she saw it with her own eyes.
The receptionist handed Sophia her package. Sophia took it and turnedto leave.
Sophia saw Patricia but didn't intend to speak to her, so she ignored her.
"Sophia!" Patricia saw Sophia about to leave and quickly chased after her, grabbing her. "Why are you here?"
"Didn't your mom tell you? I work at the Lancaster Group," Sophia said impatiently.
"How could that be? How are you still alive?" Patricia was so shocked that she spoke without thinking.
"Am I not allowed to work at the Lancaster Group? Why shouldn't I be alive?" Sophia sneered, then suddenly realized. "Oh, you probably wished I was dead long ago."
Patricia frantically denied it. "No, I didn't. Don't say that. I was just too shocked. You clearly died in the hospital back then. It's too much. You deceived all of us."
"So what if I deceived you? Did it stop you from finding a rich man?"
"You bitch!" Patricia was rendered speechless by Sophia's retort.
She clenched her fists, thought for a moment, then her expression changed. She smiled, taking off her necklace.
"Sophia, don't misunderstand. I'm very happy you're alive. I've missed you all these years. I even dreamed that you weren't dead. This necklace is my favorite, and now I'm giving it to you.
"I know I treated you badly before. Since your accident, I've been reflecting on it. I always felt like something was missing. I regret what I did to you.
"I hope you can forgive me. Can we be sisters again?"
Patricia looked at Sophia earnestly and put the necklace in her hand.
Sophia glanced down at it.
This necklace was worth at least $60,000!
