Chapter 652 Taken Away
"Dad, check this out," Ethan said, handing Gabriel the iPad.
Gabriel took it and opened a video.
It was a short surveillance clip, just a minute long, showing a woman all bundled up at a delivery locker. She quickly shoved a heavy box into the biggest locker.
The woman's face was blurry, but her figure and movements screamed one name to Gabriel—Tiffany!
"How'd you find this?" Gabriel asked Ethan, his tone serious.
Ethan replied calmly, "I was worried about Mom being in danger, so I looked into Sawyer Morris, found Tiffany, and kept digging until I found this video."
Gabriel checked the timestamp. If he was right, this was when Sam got kidnapped.
Actually, it was when all three kids got kidnapped.
Back then, he didn't even know Ethan and Emma existed.
The police hadn't closed the case, but the investigation had hit a dead end. Only Gabriel was still secretly looking into it.
The video Ethan found could be the breakthrough they needed.
Gabriel ruffled Ethan's hair, messing up his neat hairstyle.
Ethan pouted, annoyed.
"Bad Dad, you have to expose Tiffany and get justice for Mom, or I won't talk to you anymore."
Ethan had been sleeping poorly, worried about Sophia getting hurt. So he did some digging and found these clues.
Gabriel ruffled his hair again.
"Don't worry, I won't let Tiffany get away with this!"
"Good!" Ruth said, pushing the door open.
She had been eavesdropping on Gabriel and Ethan.
Ruth's face lit up with a comforting smile.
"You heard him, Gabriel. I've always said Tiffany's bad news. This time, you can't go easy on her, or I won't acknowledge you as my grandson anymore."
For five years, Ruth watched Tiffany stand proudly beside Gabriel, feeling upset. But she was getting old and couldn't boss Gabriel around, so she did everything to keep Tiffany out of the Lancasters.
Finally, her persistence paid off.
'Gabriel finally dumped Tiffany. He finally realized how good Sophia is. Gabriel finally...' Ruth felt like crying.
Gabriel suddenly felt the pressure. If he didn't handle this right, everyone would abandon him.
Tiffany checked her Twitter followers. They had dropped from nearly a million to just over ten thousand. Every tweet she posted got scorn from the remaining followers.
'Why am I in this mess??'
Tiffany's live streams had no viewers anymore, and even if a few people did show up, they were there to insult her.
Even though she had explained the incident of being captured in Country M and did all the necessary PR, it seemed like the universe was against her. Nothing was going right.
She went to the Lancaster Group and all the places Gabriel might show up, trying to see him again. But every time, security threw her out, and twice she was even taken to the police station. She was on the edge of losing it.
Tiffany hadn't slept all night again. Her eyes were bloodshot, dark circles under them, her face pale, and her expression downright scary.
She looked at her disheveled self in the mirror, her face slowly twisting in anger.
Then she picked up her phone and made a call.
"Hello, I need you to do something for me."
Meanwhile, Colin was helping Sophia investigate Tiffany and Alfred. He found out someone else was on the case too—Gabriel.
So Gabriel and Colin, two powerful guys, teamed up and quickly found more clues.
They were getting closer to the truth.
But then...
The school organized a sports day, and Josie signed up for the sprint. As her good friend, Emma wanted to cheer her on, so she dragged Ethan and Sam along to support Josie.
Just as Josie started running, Sam suddenly had a stomachache and went to the restroom alone.
Emma and Ethan kept cheering, "Go, Josie!"
Seeing Josie come in second, Emma excitedly ran up and hugged her.
"Josie, you were amazing!"
Josie was panting, and the teacher came over to give her water and check on the kids.
Ethan was genuinely happy for Josie.
But then he thought, 'Where's Sam?'
Ethan checked the time. Sam had been in the restroom for over fifteen minutes.
The restroom was only a four-minute round trip at Sam's speed, and he usually didn't take long.
Maybe it was the triplets' intuition, but Ethan had a bad feeling.
He immediately called Sam's smartwatch.
The phone rang for a long time with no answer.
Ethan's heart sank.
He didn't forget to call Emma.
"We need to find Sam."
He grabbed Emma and started running.
Josie wanted to follow, but the teacher held her back for the award ceremony.
The teacher called out, "Ethan, Emma, don't run too far."
The school gates were closed, and students weren't allowed to leave at this time, so the teachers weren't too worried about Emma and Ethan running off.
Ethan ran to the nearest restroom and searched it.
"Sam's not here."
Emma anxiously said, "Ethan, do you think Sam got taken by bad people again?"
Ethan bit his lip.
"Let's go back to the classroom."
Emma and Ethan ran back to the classroom and took out the iPad from their backpack. Ethan started operating it.
"Sam's smartwatch has a tracker. I'm checking his location. You call Dad."
"Okay." Emma quickly hit the SOS button on her smartwatch and sent a message to Gabriel.
The distress call was sent to both Gabriel and Sophia's phones.
"No, I can't find Sam's location," Ethan said urgently, his mind racing.
There were only two possibilities: either the bad guys used high-tech jammers to block the signal, or they destroyed Sam's smartwatch.
But if it was destroyed, the smartwatch would automatically send an SOS.
Since Sam's smartwatch wasn't sending any signals, he must have been knocked out.
"Emma, we need to report this to the teachers."
Ethan grabbed the iPad and tightly held Emma's hand as they ran towards the playground.
