Chapter 705 Passion
Gabriel silently lowered his head.
Sophia thought Gabriel was upset because she had looked at his phone, so she quickly explained, "I accidentally opened your phone after answering Harrison's call for you that night and saw this photo."
She didn't mean to look at his phone. He didn't set a password, and her finger just happened to swipe it open.
Gabriel smiled, lifted his head, and his eyes were filled with amusement.
Gabriel said, "How could I fall for such a clumsy trick? I already deleted the photo, but I didn't expect you to see it."
He also understood why Sophia had arranged to meet Jake.
Gabriel was very happy, extremely happy, and he finished his pasta.
The spiciness instantly spread through his mouth, and Gabriel frowned, quickly got up to the kitchen to drink a glass of water.
He felt a faint pain in his stomach.
Sophia also finished her pasta and came in with her bowl. She saw him standing there, held a water cup in one hand, and placed the other on his stomach.
Sophia asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Gabriel quickly put his hand down, forcing himself to endure the discomfort.
Gabriel replied, "No."
He took the bowl from Sophia's hand and put it in the sink, then started washing the dishes.
The pain in his stomach grew worse, and Gabriel had to stop halfway through washing, unable to hold back a groan, his handsome face showing a hint of paleness.
He clenched one hand into a fist and pressed it against his stomach, trying to alleviate the pain.
But it was no use.
Because he had just eaten something spicy, his stomach was very fragile at the moment.
Hearing Sophia's footsteps behind him, Gabriel's expression tightened. He took a deep breath and held it, then continued to wash the dishes as if nothing was wrong.
Sophia came in with a cup to get some water. Looking at his back, she felt something strange but couldn't pinpoint what it was.
Sophia asked, "Not done yet?"
There were only two bowls, so it should have been quick, but Gabriel had been washing for almost ten minutes.
Gabriel's figure swayed slightly, and his usually straight back seemed a bit hunched.
"Yeah, almost."
His voice sounded strange too.
Sophia gave him a deep look, then left with her water cup.
Hearing her footsteps fade away, Gabriel let out a sigh of relief, propping himself up on the counter and taking deep breaths.
Sweat trickled down his forehead, along the contours of his face, and finally dripped onto the floor.
Gabriel poured himself half a cup of warm water, and the pain in his stomach eased a bit.
After washing the dishes, Gabriel went to the study to take some medicine.
Ten minutes later, the pain finally disappeared, and he felt like he had come back to life.
Gabriel knocked on Sophia's door, holding his pajamas.
Sophia opened the door, glanced at him, and said, "The bathroom in your room has been checked and there's nothing wrong with it."
Gabriel lowered his head in embarrassment, then quickly looked up with a puppy-like pitiful expression, "You must be responsible to me."
Sophia's eyes widened, and her mind flashed back to that afternoon in his lounge.
She had been groggy from sleep, and when she woke up, she was easily seduced by him.
While she was still in a daze, Gabriel slipped in and gently pushed her inside as well.
Gabriel swaggered into her bathroom with his pajamas.
By the time Sophia realized what was happening, it was too late.
Gabriel finished washing and saw that Sophia had already fallen asleep.
He sighed softly, turned off the light, and quietly got into bed, lying next to Sophia.
He thought nothing would happen tonight, but then Sophia rolled into his arms.
She poked his chest and said,"I'm not asleep yet."
Gabriel's lips curved into a smile.
In the dark night, in the warm room, it was perfect for passionate sex.
Caroline accompanied Lisa in City H for four days before returning.
Lisa fulfilled her wish and then rested at The Wolf Mansion.
"Caroline." Nicholas maneuvered his wheelchair to Caroline's side.
Caroline was very sad. Lisa was so kind; why did she have to suffer from illness?
Nicholas locked his wheelchair in place, then used the armrests to stand up.
Caroline noticed and quickly tried to help him, but he refused.
"Does it hurt?" Caroline asked, looking at his legs.
Nicholas replied, "No."
He reached out and unexpectedly pulled Caroline into his arms.
His legs trembled a bit, but he remained standing.
Caroline panicked a little and asked, "Are your legs okay?"
Nicholas pressed her head against his chest, not letting her leave.
Nicholas said, "I worked so hard with Simon's treatment just so I could hold you."
Caroline instantly quieted down.
She was already model height, taller than most girls, but standing in front of Nicholas, she only reached his shoulder, looking petite.
Nicholas wondered, 'How long had it been since I held her like this?'
Because of the long-term wheelchair use, Nicholas was much thinner than before. Caroline took the initiative to hug his slender waist.
Caroline and Nicholas held each other in silence for a long time.
Caroline sniffled, about to say something, when Nicholas's warm voice brushed past her ear like a spring breeze.
"When I can walk, I want to dance with you."
Caroline inhaled his pleasant scent.
Carolin replied, "Okay."
Nicholas comforted, "Don't worry too much about Lisa."
Caroline said nothing.
Nicholas gently stroked the back of her head.
"Death might be a relief for Lisa."
"She suffered a lot from chemotherapy, and the side effects of the medication also cause other issues in her body."
"In Lisa's heart, her biggest concern is you. Before you reunited with the Wolf family, her condition was already not optimistic, but she held back from telling you."
"It wasn't until she saw you find your family and saw how well they treated you that she relaxed."
Caroline's tears soaked Nicholas's shirt, the cold sensation reaching his chest.
Nicholas tightened his hold on her.
After Lisa's surgery, she should have been able to live a few more years, but illness is the most unreasonable. It always lurks silently in some corners of the body, ready to strike at any moment, making life unbearable.
"Nicholas, she hasn't even had a chance to enjoy life," Caroline cried.
"So we need to be good to her from now on." Nicholas replied.
"Yeah!" Caroline nodded.
After a day of rest, Lisa felt much better. Caroline and Nicholas took her and Josie to visit the aquarium.
The family was happy and harmonious, looking extremely blissful, completely unaware that someone was following them.
Daisy hid in a corner, her eyes filled with rage as she watched Nicholas and Caroline's warm family scene. Her fingernails were almost digging into her skin.
