Chapter 113 Finding a New Daddy

Sophia held her phone close to her ear, listening as Gabriel ran to Sam's side.

"Sam, don't be afraid, Daddy's here."

Gabriel tossed the phone aside and picked up his son.

Sam woke up from a nightmare, and in his extreme panic upon hearing the door open, he screamed and vigorously struggled when suddenly someone lifted him up. He fought back, flailing his arms and legs, hitting and kicking Gabriel multiple times.

Sam seemed as if he were in a trance, unable to comprehend anything, tears streaming down his face as he struggled. Gabriel had no choice but to restrain his son's limbs.

Gabriel noticed that Sam was gripping something in his hand and wanted to pry it open to take a look, but Sam held on tightly, afraid that Gabriel might unintentionally hurt him, so Gabriel gave up.

After about half an hour, Sam woke up drenched in sweat, his tearful eyes fixed on Daddy, still filled with lingering fear.

"Sam, tell Daddy what you dreamt about."

He stared blankly, seemingly not hearing Daddy's voice.

Gabriel got up to fetch a towel to wipe Sam's body, but Sam grabbed hold of one of his fingers and looked up at him, fear evident in his eyes, which melted Gabriel's heart.

"Don't be afraid, Daddy will get a towel to wipe your sweat."

Sam refused to let go.

Gabriel had no choice but to sit back down.

"Daddy won't leave. I'll stay here with you. Go to sleep."

Sam obediently lay down.

"What's in your hand? Let Daddy put it away for you."

Sam took it out and glanced at Daddy before immediately hiding it under the covers.

Gabriel couldn't help but chuckle at his son's actions.

"Alright, if you don't want to give it, then don't."

Surprisingly, Sam was holding a mini doll that only girls played with.

Sam squeezed the doll in his hand, flattening it due to the force, but it didn't stop him from building up courage in his heart.

With the doll and the invincible Daddy by his side, if the demons from his dream were to come again, he would defeat them with the doll!

Sam closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

After Sam had fallen into a deep slumber, Gabriel, prepared to fetch a towel, heard Sophia's anxious voice coming from his phone that had fallen to the ground.

"I'm coming over now."

She was extremely worried and could hear Sam's continuous fussing through the phone. Hurriedly changing her clothes, she intended to go out.

Gabriel picked up the phone and spoke in a deep voice, "You don't need to come, Sam has already fallen asleep. I'll be with him tonight."

Finally, after a moment of consideration, he added, "You don't need to worry."

Sophia paused in the motion of opening the door.

"Take a few pictures for me."

Gabriel took a few photos and sent them to Sophia. She looked at her son's peaceful sleeping face, cheeks still rosy as if he had applied blush.

Suddenly, her heart calmed down.

Gabriel hung up the phone and fetched a warm damp towel to clean Sam's body. His movements were gentle enough not to disturb Sam's sleep.

Then, he lay down next to his son.

Sideways, he hugged his son into his arms.

For the rest of the night, Gabriel didn't sleep at all.

Sophia could know things from such a distance, but he, being so close, didn't notice anything. Even when Sophia called, he thought she was being unreasonable.

He believed he had done everything perfectly, but now he realized it was not enough.

Perhaps he should consider letting Sophia take care of Sam?

But would exposing Sam to Sophia deepen his illness?

Gabriel was also conflicted.

Sophia was undoubtedly more careful than him, and perhaps she would be better suited to taking care of Sam. However, Gabriel didn't want to take any risks when it came to Sam's condition.

When Gabriel woke up in the morning, he found Sam in good condition, as if last night had been just his imagination. When Gabriel asked him, Sam didn't react much either.

He sent Sam to school and then called Alfred at the company.

"In this situation, I suggest you sleep with him at night, comfort him when he has nightmares, and observe for a few more days," Alfred suggested.

After hanging up the phone, Sophia called again to inquire about Sam's condition.

"I want to see Sam, Gabriel. Don't use his condition as an excuse to keep us apart. Sam knows nothing; how could he not want to see me? If you don't believe me, ask him. If he personally tells you he doesn't want to, then I won't see him."

Sophia was very firm. After thinking it over, she felt that it was ridiculous to think her presence worsened his condition.

Unless Sam knew she was his mommy!

"Fine."

Sophia had prepared a long list of arguments to make Gabriel agree, but he only said "fine" after she had spoken just two sentences?

Even better, she didn't want to waste her breath anymore.

"I'll go with you to pick him up from school today."

"Alright."

Gabriel was already considering whether or not to let Sophia take care of Sam, so how could he refuse Sophia seeing Sam?

As long as it was good for Sam, Gabriel wouldn't refuse now.

So when the bad daddy and mommy appeared together at the kindergarten after school, Ethan and Emma didn't know how to hide.

"Why is mommy here?" Emma wanted to run into her mother's arms.

Ethan was also puzzled.

Sophia was searching for their figures and when she saw them in line for the school bus in the distance, she made eye contact with Ethan and conveyed a message with her eyes: "Hide, hide quickly."

Ethan hurriedly pulled Emma onto the bus.

"Guillimore, Emma, don't push," the teacher gently reminded.

"Sorry, teacher," Ethan politely apologized. They sat in the back seat and pulled down the curtains to block the view from outside.

They couldn't see outside anymore, but Ethan was still observing the situation through a gap.

He saw the teacher helping Sam, brought him to the front of Daddy Bad Egg and Mommy.

"Mummy and Daddy Bad Egg came to pick up Sam together," Ethan relayed what he saw to Emma.

Emma widened her eyes, she wanted to see too.

And it was something she had always dreamed of, Daddy and Mommy coming to pick them up from school!

She leaned on Ethan's back, looking outside. Daddy Bad Egg held Sam, while Mommy spoke gently and happily to Sam. They got on the car and left together.

Emma's eyes turned red.

"Ethan, I want Daddy to hold me too."

Daddy seemed so strong, and he really seemed to be very kind to Sam.

Ethan cupped her face, looking at his little sister with her teary eyes, and said seriously, "Even if we want Daddy, we need to find a good Daddy. The current Daddy mistreats Mommy, he doesn't deserve to be our Daddy."

"Emma, do you want to lose Mommy?"

Emma panicked in her heart and quickly shook her head, "I don't want to lose Mommy."

"Then don't think about Daddy Bad Egg. Once we help Mommy bring Sam back to us, Mommy will definitely take us away from here. And then we can ask Mommy to find us a new Daddy."

"The new Daddy will be super nice to Mommy, and will accompany us to school's parent-child activities, and will protect us."
