Chapter 386 I Wanted to See Josie

Paul burst into laughter and said, "Alright, I'll go back and tell my uncle right away that the wedding is off."

Everyone present fell silent.

Daniel was furious. He was usually gentle and looked like a refined gentleman, never showing his anger. But now, the Watson family had truly disappointed him.

Since the marriage had already been arranged, Nicholas should have come to pick up Daisy himself, taken her to the church to take their vows, and appeared in front of the guests together.

But now, Nicholas didn't even show up!

Although Daisy was Daniel's niece, she was also the only heiress of the Wolf family, and he treated her like his own daughter.

At this moment, he had to stand up for Daisy and couldn't let her be wronged.

Just as Paul was about to leave, Daisy came out in her wedding dress.

"Paul," she called out to him, then turned to Daniel with a pleading look. "Uncle Daniel, it's okay. I like Nicholas, I love him, and I understand that he can't come because of his health, so he sent Paul instead."

Daniel looked at Daisy, and after a while, his eyes showed a mix of frustration and helplessness.

Daisy liked Nicholas, so what could Daniel do?

She would have to live her life.

Back when she insisted on becoming Josie's stepmother and moved into the Watson Manor, Daniel had already said everything he needed to say.

Now that Daisy was finally getting her wish to marry into the Watson family, he had no reason to stop her.

Oh well, at least Nicholas' parents still valued Daisy.

And with him around, the Watson family wouldn't dare to bully Daisy.

Paul was disappointed but eventually managed to take Daisy away.

At the hospital, Sophia wasn't working today and had come early.

She was handling the paperwork as quickly as possible, and in a few days, once Caroline's external injuries healed a bit, she could arrange for Caroline to be transferred abroad.

When Sophia entered the ward, she found Caroline's eyes open.

Sophia thought she was seeing things. She rubbed her eyes and looked again. No mistake. Caroline's eyes were open, staring motionlessly at the ceiling, looking a bit scary.

"Caroline?" Sophia suppressed her excitement and called out uncertainly.

Caroline had just woken up a minute ago, suddenly escaping from a confining dream. Her mind was still a bit foggy as if she couldn't remember many things, yet many memories seemed to flood back all at once.

The most vivid memory was the moment of her car accident. She was on the phone, trying to cross the street quickly to avoid the heavy rain.

Just before the accident, Caroline seemed to hear Sophie saying something to her, but she didn't catch it clearly. She only saw the small truck speeding towards her, and she had no time to react.

Caroline opened her mouth, her throat dry, but she managed to speak, "What were you going to tell me?"

Sophie covered her mouth, tears of joy streaming down her face.

"You're awake! You're really awake. Doctor!" Sophia ran out to call the doctor.

Soon, the doctor and nurses came in. After a thorough examination, the doctor felt it was a miracle.

Caroline had woken up so quickly!

The doctor was also very pleased.

"Now that she's awake, there's no danger. You can feed her some liquid food, but her back and leg injuries still need to rest and shouldn't be moved."

"Okay, thank you, doctor."

After seeing the doctor off, Sophia quickly came over to give Caroline some water.

Caroline had calmed down and realized she wasn't dead.

"Caroline, you scared me extremely." Sophia wanted to hug her but didn't dare, afraid of hurting her.

"I'm fine."

"Fine? You can't even move, and you are almost in a vegetative state."

As she spoke, Sophia started crying again.

Only when Sophia's long-held tension was released did she realize how worried she had been these past days.

Caroline smiled weakly.

"Didn't you say you had something to tell me?"

Seeing her like this, Sophia thought, 'Does she not hear anything we said while she was unconscious? Or does she hear but not remember?'

She didn't dwell on it.

"You still have injuries. You can't get too excited when I tell you."

What could be so important? Caroline was even more curious.

Sophia said, "I only found out that day. Caroline, your child didn't die. She's alive and well."

"What?" Caroline's eyes widened, and she tried to sit up in excitement, but her back hurt terribly when she moved.

Sophia quickly pressed her back down.

"Don't move. Don't rush."

Of course, Caroline was anxious. "I saw that child die with my own eyes, and I buried her myself. How could she still be alive? Sophie, don't lie to me just to comfort me."

"I'm not lying. That child is Josie. There must have been some misunderstanding back then. Josie is actually your biological daughter."

"How could that be?" Caroline couldn't believe it, but joy was already spreading in her heart.

Her beautiful face betrayed her weakness, and her eyes quickly filled with tears, making her look even more pitiful.

Sophia added, "The three kids secretly took your and Josie's hair for a DNA test. I saw the report. Josie is indeed your daughter."

Caroline's eyes instantly blurred with tears, and the next moment, they fell like pearls. She tightly grasped Sophia's hand, her mouth open, unable to speak for a long time.

"Caroline, don't worry. Josie came to see you while you were unconscious."

"When you get better, I'll go with you to figure everything out and help you bring Josie back."

After a long time, Caroline managed to squeeze out a sentence. "Where is Josie now?"

"Today is Nicholas and Daisy's wedding. Josie should be at the wedding."

"Sophie, take me there. I want to see Josie."

Josie was her daughter! Her biological daughter! Caroline desperately wanted to see her immediately, to hold her and tell her how much she missed her.

"But you..."

Caroline's current condition meant she couldn't go anywhere.

Caroline hoarsely pleaded, "Take me there!"

Her eyes were filled with tears and a desperate plea.

"Alright, I'll make arrangements."

To let more people witness this grand wedding, both families had invited many guests.

Besides friends and family, more than half were business partners of the two families.

At this moment, because the groom, Nicholas, hadn't shown up, everyone was whispering.

The wedding officiant also found it strange but had to praise Nicholas and Daisy's love as very touching and passionate.

"Everyone." Aragorn took the microphone from the officiant. "I'm sorry, but due to some circumstances, Nicholas couldn't make it to the wedding. However, the wedding cannot be delayed, so Daisy will have to complete the ceremony alone."

"From this moment on, Daisy marries into the Watson family and becomes the future hostess of the Watson Group."

Although everyone found it strange, they still gave a round of applause out of courtesy.

Daniel and Linda sat in the front row. Daniel looked very unhappy, while Linda maintained her habitual smile.

They thought Nicholas just wouldn't pick up Daisy, but they didn't expect him to skip the entire wedding.

Daniel was even more frustrated with Daisy.

It was clear that Daisy had known Nicholas wouldn't show up for the wedding, yet she still went through with it without hesitation.
