Chapter 447 So Many Mistakes

Daisy clutched her belly and snapped, "I'm pregnant with Nicholas' child. If you touch me, neither he nor his dad will let you off."

The security guards exchanged uneasy glances. They had orders to keep Daisy out, but if something happened to her, they'd be in big trouble. They decided to report it up the chain.

Soon, the message reached Nicholas.

"Let her in," he said coldly.

Sharpe made a call, and Daisy was brought up. She walked straight to Nicholas' office, knocked, and entered. Seeing Nicholas, she burst into tears, looking pitiful.

"Nicholas, Nicholas."

Sharpe thought to himself that Daisy was crying so hard, anyone might think Nicholas had died.

Nicholas frowned, gazing at Daisy coldly. "If you can't talk properly, get out."

Daisy immediately stopped crying and wiped her tears. "Nicholas, what did I do wrong? Why are you treating me like this? You won't even acknowledge our child."

Nicholas looked at her indifferently. "Do I need to list everything you've done?"

His cold voice made Daisy shiver. "I..."

"Was it Caroline who abandoned Josie, or did you take her away?" His tone was questioning, but his eyes were stern.

His piercing gaze terrified Daisy, making her feel exposed. She stammered, "Caroline didn't want the child. After she abandoned her, she wanted her back. I couldn't stand it and was afraid she'd abuse Josie, so I gave her a stillborn, making her think Josie was dead.

"No matter what, Josie is your child, Nicholas. I did all this for you."

Nicholas stayed silent. The office fell quiet, and Daisy couldn't read his thoughts. She didn't know if he would believe her again.

Daisy took out her phone. "Nicholas, listen to this."

She played a recording of her conversation with Caroline. "Nicholas, Caroline will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She used my mother to threaten me into helping her get custody of Josie. I had no choice but to ask your father for help. If I didn't agree, my mother would be sued and sentenced."

Daisy started crying again. Nicholas' fingers slowly clenched on the desk.

Daisy walked closer, her voice thick with sobs. "Nicholas, Caroline doesn't deserve you. We are perfect for each other. I'm already carrying your child. I can give you a lovely baby."

Nicholas' cold gaze swept over Daisy's belly, making her stop. She instinctively covered her belly, feeling that Nicholas wanted to get rid of her child.

"Nicholas?" she asked.

"The child is yours. Whether you give birth or not is your choice. As for whether it's mine, we'll know after a paternity test when it's born." Nicholas turned to Sharpe. "Sharpe, see her out."

"Nicholas." Daisy didn't want to leave. She pondered his words.

'Is he still unwilling to acknowledge the child as his?'

She couldn't believe he didn't know it was her that night!

Fine, she'd wait to give birth and do a paternity test. She was sure the child was Nicholas'!

As Daisy reached the door, she heard Nicholas' voice. "If you and your mother bother Caroline again, it won't just be a lawsuit."

Daisy's face went pale, and she wobbled.

"Ms. Wolf, please." Sharpe gestured for her to leave quickly.

When Sharpe returned, he saw Nicholas staring out the window, looking lonely and upset. Sharpe had never seen Nicholas like this before. Since Caroline's return, Nicholas had become unpredictable and emotional.

"Mr. Watson." Sharpe felt a pang of sympathy for Nicholas. He didn't know the full story between Nicholas and Caroline, but he sensed that there had been many misunderstandings.

"It's all myfault. I've made so many mistakes."

Sharpe was about to leave quietly when he heard Nicholas' pained voice.

"I hated her for so long, hated her for abandoning our daughter. For six years, she never came back to see her.

"In the end, I should hate myself. I didn't have the courage to go abroad and ask her why.

"I focused on my career and neglected Josie's growth."

He didn't believe a word Daisy had said today. Her reasons didn't hold up. When Lisa showed him those prenatal check-ups, he knew how much Caroline loved the child. How could she abandon her?

But he had believed Daisy back then and hated Caroline for years because of it.

The wind blew in from the window. He didn't know if it was the wind or the pain in his heart, but a tear fell from Nicholas' eye.

Sharpe didn't know if he should speak, but even if he did, what could he say?

"Leave me alone," Nicholas said.

"As you wish." Sharpe left, leaving Nicholas alone.

Years ago, Nicholas was severely injured in a car accident and sought treatment abroad. When he returned, he saw Daisy holding a child, claiming it was Caroline's and that Caroline had abandoned her and gone abroad.

He had tried to contact Caroline but couldn't reach her. Later, Caroline gained fame abroad, but he was so consumed by hatred that he never went to find her.

Nicholas closed his eyes. He clenched his hand tight, transferring the pain in his heart to his hand.

At noon, Caroline was having lunch with Ben.

"The Grand Theater has a concert next month and needs a violinist. Will you go?" Ben gently served Caroline some food.

Caroline said, "Thank you, I'll go."

Ben smiled. "Alright, I'll let them know."

Caroline needed work. Abroad, she had more performance opportunities because she was well-known, but she didn't have the same advantage domestically. More people here preferred the entertainment industry, but she didn't want to enter it. The rules were too murky, and she wasn't suited for it, nor did she like it.
