Chapter 353 Certainly Not a Well-behaved Person
Ethan said with a sorrowful tone, "Mommy cries every night looking at these messages. She must be very scared of losing us."
"I wonder who is sending Mommy these fake photos."
"If Mommy's depression relapses because of this, will she want to leave us again?"
As Ethan spoke, he began to tear up.
When he first saw these messages on Sophia's phone, he was extremely worried.
After observing for two days, he found that Sophia didn't seem to take these messages to heart.
But he was still uneasy.
'There are always bad people trying to harm Mommy!'
'Didn't that scoundrel Daddy say he wanted to repent and make amends? This matter could serve as a test to see if he would protect Mommy,' Ethan thought.
Emma, dressed in pink pajamas, turned over on Gabriel's big bed.
She still wanted Sophia to hold her to sleep.
Emma pouted her rosy little lips and looked at Gabriel with a face full of grievance as he came in.
"What's wrong?" Gabriel asked gently.
"I want to go back to Mommy," Emma said, feeling aggrieved. She regretted coming over to sleep with Gabriel for the live broadcast.
Gabriel felt hurt again. All three children only wanted Sophia and not him. What was he to do?
"You are with Mommy every day, but what about Daddy? I want you to be with me, too."
Seeing Gabriel's pitiful look, Emma softened. She remembered his good deeds, how Gabriel saved her like a big hero, bought her lots of snacks, and lifted her high.
However...
Gabriel leaned closer, his eyes shining, saying, "Emma, don't you want us to be together? That way, you can be with both Mommy and me."
Emma crossed her arms and lifted her chin. "Don't try to fool me. I'm not as easy to fool as Sam."
Too smart for her own good, Gabriel sighed inwardly.
He pinched Emma's chubby little cheek.
"Be good and go to sleep. I'm here, don't be afraid."
Emma lay down, covered herself with the small blanket, and her eyes rolled a few times.
"Bad Daddy."
"Huh?" Gabriel was looking at work messages on his phone.
"Will you disappear again in the future?"
Gabriel's finger paused on the screen. He put down his phone, sat by the bed, leaned in, and looked at Emma seriously and gently.
"No, I swear, I will never leave you again."
"No matter if your Mommy and I reconcile or not, we will always be by your side, watching you grow up."
Emma suddenly became emotional; her eyes reddened instantly, and she hugged Gabriel tightly, crying.
"You said you and Mommy would always be with us. If you break your promise, I will never like you again."
"You don't even know; Ethan and I were always bullied when we were in Country M."
"Anthony and the others always laughed at us for not having a Daddy and organized other kids not to play with us."
"Nicole even locked me in a small room and wouldn't let me out."
"I am aware that I instigate considerable turmoil, yet it is in response to their initial acts of intimidation against us. Ethan and I retaliated, hence the ensuing predicament."
"We didn't dare let Mommy know. If she knew we were being bullied, she would be very worried."
"So don't blame Mommy either. Mommy loves us very much."
Gabriel had never imagined that the children would suffer so much. He held Emma tightly, his voice hoarse with suppressed emotion.
"It's all my fault. I'm sorry I didn't protect you. These years have been hard on you."
"When the occasion presents itself, I shall escort you and Ethan in search of Anthony and Nicole. Rest assured, we shall inform them of your parental figure.!"
Emma snuggled her little head, responding softly.
Emma continued to recount some of the bullying incidents, and as she spoke, she slowly fell asleep.
Gabriel gently laid Emma down, covered her with the blanket, and looked at her tear-streaked, rosy cheeks, feeling a deep, aching pain in his heart.
No longer did he harbor a wish to engage in labor. He reclined yet found slumber to be elusive, gazing at the ceiling, his thoughts echoing the words uttered by Vincent and Caroline.
During those five years, Sophia was abroad, battling depression, surviving, and raising children.
Each of these tasks alone would be a challenge for an ordinary person.
Yet she was so remarkable.
Upon witnessing Sophia's continued existence, Gabriel, in a state of folly and ire, misconstrued her actions, going so far as to separate from the children.
He had never considered things from Sophia's perspective.
"I'm sorry."
The words carried so much weight.
In the room next door, Sophia also lay awake.
'Did Gabriel know that Emma would kick off the blanket?' She thought.
She wanted so much to run over and check on Emma.
The next day, Sophia received a bouquet of carnations.
[Mr. A sends to Miss S: Carnations are not enough to express your greatness. Your true feelings will eventually be rewarded.]
It was Jake again. He hadn't appeared for a long time, probably busy with work.
Despite being so busy, he still occasionally sent flowers.
Sophia happily carried the flowers inside just as the last bouquet had wilted.
The next time Jake came over, she had to cook something delicious for him.
Her smiling face was seen by Gabriel, who was just stepping out.
Gabriel smiled lightly, and his heart skipped a few beats.
At the office, Harrison appeared, yawning.
He really wanted to take a day off.
Every morning, his first thought was to take a day off.
"If I die from overwork, Gabriel will be largely responsible," Harrison said, looking at Gabriel with a face full of grievance.
Because of the lab fire incident last time, there were many messes left behind.
Gabriel had thrown everything at him, and he had been working day and night, finding people to restore research data and running to the hospital to discuss with the two doctors.
Harrison felt he was on the verge of collapse.
He sprawled on Gabriel's leather sofa, one hairy leg swinging back and forth.
"The CEO of MicroCircuit Group has yet to be found. Currently, all affairs of MicroCircuit Group are handled by the general manager, Matthew Lopez."
Harrison complained, "Hiding like that, he can't be a well-behaved person."
"How is MicroCircuit Group's guide system?" Gabriel asked.
Speaking of this, Harrison sat up quickly and said, "I've seen that guide system. It's indeed quite good and really helps the blind, but it also has its drawbacks."
Gabriel's brow furrowed slowly.
Harrison continued, "Our lab was just burned, and the chips and data were destroyed. Then MicroCircuit Group comes out with a guide system. It's clearly competing with us."
This MicroCircuit Group was like a bomb that suddenly appeared.
Gabriel said, "For now, we need to restore the chip data quickly. Their guide system isn't directly related to our chips."
They talked about work for about half an hour, and Harrison clearly felt that Gabriel was in a good mood today and particularly easy to talk to.
