Chapter 322 Tiffany was a Deadbeat

Sophia had rested for so long, and today, she officially returned to work. As soon as she arrived at the company, Larry and others came over to ask about her.
"Sophia, why have you lost so much weight?" Larry looked at her in shock.
"I've been on a diet."
After being discharged from the hospital, Sophia rested for two days. Her complexion was much better than before, but her weight hadn't recovered as quickly.
In fact, she was pretty satisfied with her current figure—not too fat, not too thin, just right.
"Ms. Kelly, we've been so busy while you were away. You must treat us to a meal after your competition." someone joked.
Sophia replied thoughtfully, "Of course, I must treat you."
"Sophia, since you're back at work, you can handle these documents yourself," Kathy said as she handed over a stack of papers,
Both she and Sophia were designers under Flora. With Sophia on leave, all of her work had fallen on Kathy's shoulders.
Kathy was very unhappy about this. She would delay the work as much as possible and only return it to Sophia when she came back.
Sophia didn't say anything and took the documents.
After Kathy left, Larry quietly said to Sophia,
"Kathy has been acting strange lately. She often loses her temper for no reason, and she has been saying a lot of bad things about you behind your back."
Having worked with Sophia for so long, everyone had some understanding of her. Kathy's negative comments behind her back didn't affect Sophia much.
"Did you offend her?" Larry asked,
Sophia shook her head, not mentioning Kathy trying to meddle in her affairs.
"That must be jealousy of your talent, just like Fiona, who is so annoying," Larry commented.
Sophia received a call from Margaret and went to her office to meet her.
Margaret asked a few caring questions about Sophia's well-being and competition preparations.
"Sorry, Ms. Lee, I've had some things happen recently, and I may not have prepared enough for the competition."
Margaret frowned, remained silent for a few seconds, then sighed, "Well, do your best. Whatever rank you achieve will be fine."
That day, Sophia was very busy, but amidst the hustle, she found time to go to the general manager's office to see Gabriel.
Unfortunately, she arrived at an inconvenient time as Gabriel was meeting with clients in the conference room.
"You can come back later or wait here," the secretary informed her.
Sophia checked the time and decided to wait.
Tiffany glanced at Sophia, then lowered her head, took out a spare phone, opened it, edited a message, and sent it out.
Sophia's phone vibrated, and she instinctively picked it up to take a look.
It was a message from an unknown number containing a downloaded photo.
In the photo, Gabriel and Tiffany looked affectionate, kissing Sam's cheek and appearing very happy as a family of three.
At that moment, it felt just like receiving a text message five years ago.
Sophia glanced lightly at Tiffany, who was diligently working.
Tiffany tried the same trick again, but this time, she wouldn't be affected anymore.
Sophia operated on her phone for a few moments, then smiled faintly and walked over to Tiffany.
She lightly tapped Tiffany's desk.
Tiffany, seemingly interrupted by her serious work, raised her head with a puzzled expression.
"What's up?" she asked in a stiff tone,
Sophia looked at her with a smile that wasn't quite a smile.
"When are you planning to repay the one hundred thousand dollars you owe me?" she asked,
Tiffany widened her eyes, stood up excitedly, and sharply retorted, "I never owed you one hundred thousand dollars!"
Many people around them turned to look.
Sophia raised her voice incredulously, looking at her in disbelief.
"Ms. Foster, you mentioned recently that you were short of money, that your funds were tied up in the stock market, and asked me to lend you one hundred thousand dollars as a temporary solution."
"You said Tiffany's counseling room was closed, and you were fined a lot of money."
"I lent you the one hundred thousand dollars because I felt sorry for you."
"one hundred thousand dollars is a sum I saved up for quite some time. Ms. Foster, you can't just default on it."
Upon hearing Sophia's words, the surrounding people began to whisper.
"Tiffany's counseling room was fined so much. Ms. Foster must be out of money, or else she wouldn't be working at the company."
"It seems like Ms. Foster really owes Ms. Kelly money."
"In fact, it's not a big deal for Ms. Foster to borrow money. She must have gained a lot of benefits from Mr. Lancaster. One hundred thousand dollars shouldn't be much for her."
"I didn't expect Ms. Foster to be a deadbeat."
The discussions grew louder as if they were afraid Tiffany wouldn't hear. Tiffany clenched her fists in frustration, feeling disgusted by these people.
Although they treated her well on the surface, they were actually making fun of her behind her back, mocking her for being dumped by Gabriel.
Hypocrites!
Being labeled a deadbeat, Tiffany's dignity was trampled underfoot.
Furious, she retorted, "I never borrowed money from you; you're talking nonsense."
"I have a promissory note." Sophia took out her phone and opened a photo, showing a promissory note.
She quickly passed the phone in front of Tiffany's eyes and then showed it to a few people nearby.
"Please, everyone, bear witness. I have a promissory note. Tiffany owes me one hundred thousand dollars. We agreed that she would repay me two weeks ago, but she kept delaying it until now, leaving me no choice but to confront her."
"I urgently need the money now, but Ms. Foster is refusing to pay me."
Although these people didn't clearly see the contents of the promissory note, they believed Sophia and nodded. "Indeed, it's a promissory note, and there's a thumbprint on it."
The crowd looked disdainfully at Tiffany.
Tiffany had never experienced such contemptuous gazes. Since acknowledging Gabriel, she had been living a prosperous life, with everyone eager to please her.
Today, Sophia had labeled her a deadbeat with just a few words.
Tiffany was so angry that her face turned red, and she pointed at Sophia's nose. "That promissory note is fake. I never borrowed money from you. If you have the ability, take me to court."
She refused to believe that Sophia, no matter how capable, couldn't forge a genuine promissory note!
Of course, Sophia couldn't forge one, and her intention wasn't to extort money from Tiffany.
"How do you know the promissory note is definitely fake? Weren't you suffering from amnesia? Or were you just pretending?" Sophia asked,
Tiffany was stunned by the question but then realized that Sophia was trying to provoke her!
That damned bitch, Sophia!
Tiffany's mind raced, and she quickly responded.
"I've remembered some things recently."
"So, you've regained your memory, right?"
"Yes, I've regained my memory."
An employee suddenly spoke up, "You regained your memory, yet you had me help you with work yesterday!"
"Yes, considering she had amnesia, I helped her with data reports for a few days."
The people present were all angry with Tiffany.
Because of her amnesia, they had taken extra care of her, but now that she had regained her memory and didn't inform them, she continued to enjoy these privileges.
Despicable!
Sophia smiled. "Don't be angry; maybe Ms. Foster's memory is confused. She made a mistake; she indeed owes me one hundred thousand dollars."
