Chapter 443 Help Grandma

Sharpe glanced at Nicholas and said, "Alright."

But instead of heading to the hotel that Caroline mentioned, the car went straight to Heights Hill Villa.

Caroline was puzzled, but assumed that Sharpe was dropping Nicholas off first. Then Nicholas gently told Josie, "Josie, we're home."

Caroline's heart skipped a beat. She looked at Nicholas, feeling flustered. "We had an agreement."

They had agreed that Josie would stay with her. Was he breaking his promise? Or was this a ruse to get her back?

Nicholas calmly replied, "I'm Josie's father. I won't let my daughter stay in a hotel when she has a home."

Was he against the idea of her taking Josie to a hotel?

Caroline bit her lip, unsure of what to say.

She needed to find a place to stay quickly.

"If you want, you can stay here for a while to keep Josie company," Nicholas added after a pause, a hint of hope in his eyes.

He led Josie into the villa. Josie looked back at Caroline, clearly wanting her to stay, making it hard for Caroline to refuse.

In the end, she brought her luggage and Lisa inside.

The room was the same as before; nothing had changed since she left.

Molly was thrilled to see them. "I just bought a lot of groceries this morning. I'll have lunch ready soon. Mr. Watson, you can rest for now."

Nicholas nodded.

Josie hadn't adjusted to the time difference, so Caroline helped put her sleep while Nicholas went to his study to work.

Documents piled up, and Nicholas worked for two hours before Molly called him for lunch.

After lunch, Josie felt more energetic and wanted to practice the violin with Caroline.

Nicholas received a call and went out.

The call was from Daniel, who had asked to meet after Nicholas returned.

Daniel had once helped him, so Nicholas usually humored his requests.

In the afternoon, Nicholas arrived at the Wolf Group.

Daniel was waiting in the office. After someone brought in coffee, Daniel showed Nicholas some medical reports.

"Can you see if this illness can be treated?" he asked.

There were birthmarks and a paternity test, and Daniel was almost certain she was his lost daughter, Diana.

After more than twenty years, he had finally found his daughter, but the news was grim.

Diana had late-stage leukemia and was basically just waiting to die.

Linda was at the hospital every day taking care of Diana, and Daniel was searching for the best medical team to save her.

Though Nicholas wasn't a doctor, he worked in the industry and had an elite medical team.

He looked through the documents, frowning. "This patient's condition has deteriorated severely; it's basically untreatable at this point."

Even the best drugs wouldn't help much.

Daniel was devastated. After finding Diana, he had used all of his connections and consulted countless top doctors but got no satisfactory answers.

He had hoped Nicholas might have a solution, but...

Nicholas looked at Daniel. It hadn't been long since they last met, but Daniel seemed to have aged immensely in such a short time. His hair was graying and thinning.

What had happened to the Wolf family?

"Can't your team treat her?" Daniel asked, still holding onto hope.

"I need to take the documents back for a review before I can make a decision."

"Alright, get me the results ASAP," Daniel said.

"How's Linda's health?" Nicholas asked cautiously.

"It's not Linda; it's my daughter, Diana," Daniel replied, shaking his head.

Nicholas's eyes widened. "You found Diana?"

Daniel closed his eyes briefly, sorrow etchedon his face. "Finding Diana was a joy, but she had already been diagnosed with late-stage leukemia when we found her."

Nicholas didn't know how to comfort him, so he just said, "I'll do my best."

"Thank you."

Both were businessmen, so they were used to getting straight to the point in a conversation. Daniel didn't mention Daisy at all.

When Nicholas took over the company, it was in financial trouble, and R&D needed funding. Nicholas wanted to develop a new drug and sought a bank loan, but the bank refused due to his heavy debts.

Daniel saw Nicholas's research plan and invested in the project, which helped Nicholas expand the Watson Group.

Nicholas remembered Daniel's kindness but wouldn't accept Daisy against his will, and Daniel never forced him to.

Back at the office, Nicholas had Sharpe send the medical reports to his team, who said they needed time to study them.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Sophia was in Ruth's room.

Ruth, being old and having undergone major surgery, was struggling to recover, but she had passed the most dangerous stage.

"Ruth, I want to..." Sophia hesitated.

"What do you want to do?" Ruth asked kindly, eating a banana.

"I want to rent your house again," Sophia said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

How many times had she moved this year? She had finally moved into her old home, but a fire had burned everything down. Her ties to her parents were completely severed.

Ruth frowned. "What's wrong? Isn't the Lancaster Manor comfortable? Are the servants not listening to you? Or is the bed uncomfortable?"

"No, Ruth, the servants are great, and the bed is comfortable, it's just..."

Sophia was no longer part of the Lancaster family and wasn't Gabriel's wife anymore. It felt wrong to stay at the Lancaster Manor.

Ruth saw through Sophia's thoughts and clutched her chest.

"Ruth, is your chest hurting again?" Sophia hurriedly reached for the call button, but Ruth stopped her.

Ruth took a few deep breaths, looking even weaker. "I'm fine."

"Let's call the doctor," Sophia insisted, concerned.

"I don't need one," Ruth said, pressingher lips tightly.

Ruth held Sophia's hand. "Sophie, look at me. I don't know how much longer I have, and Gabriel hasn't recovered yet.

"The Lancaster family still needs you. Can you help me a while longer?

"Besides, those criminals haven't been caught yet. If you move out with the kids, what would happen if you're in danger? Gabriel won't be able to save you in time. The old house has a complete security system and bodyguards. It's very safe."
