Chapter 683 The Punishment Deserved
Caroline glanced back after stepping into the room and noticed Nicholas looking pretty down. She gave him a small smile.
When Nicholas caught her eye, she shot him a reassuring look, which seemed to calm him down a lot.
Nicholas didn't push to come in. He politely said goodbye to Daniel, then hopped in his car and took off.
Linda grabbed Caroline's hand.
"Caroline, your dad's not trying to break you and Nicholas up. The Watsons treated you badly, and your dad has to hit back. He's just giving Nicholas a hard time for a bit to show him that our family isn't to be messed with. Nicholas won't dare to mess with you again."
Linda was worried Caroline might get the wrong idea. She knew both Caroline and Nicholas had been through a lot. They cared a lot about Caroline, and if she still liked Nicholas and wanted to be with him, they wouldn't stand in the way. But they couldn't just let the Watsons off easy.
They had to let off some steam.
Over the past couple of weeks, they'd seen Nicholas's attitude. He was genuinely sincere towards Caroline. As for what Aragorn did, he'd have to face the music himself.
Daniel's face lit up when he saw Caroline.
"Caroline, are you tired from your trip?"
Daniel and Linda's concern warmed Caroline's heart.
Feeling valued by her parents made her incredibly happy, and her smile grew even bigger.
Family had once been such a luxury for her.
Caroline gave Linda a warm hug.
Linda stiffened, her heart almost skipping a beat.
"Caroline."
"I'm good. I had a great time. Next time, let's all go out together," Caroline said softly.
Linda nodded eagerly.
Daniel's smile widened, his eyes crinkling.
After a couple of weeks off, Sophia had to get back to work.
Jennifer gave her a big task: this year's Fusion Fashion Show.
In the past, the Fusion Dynamics Corporation fashion show was held in the capital of Country M, always drawing big names in the fashion industry. Among these big names were Sophia's idols and many people she once admired.
This was Sophia's first time organizing such a big fashion show. To be honest, she was both nervous and excited.
Everything had to be perfect.
Sophia wanted to pick three designers to help her with the preparations, and the first person she thought of was Larry.
Larry had done great during his studies. With Jennifer's encouragement, Larry had finally overcome his past issues and grown quickly.
So Sophia immediately decided on Larry.
As for the second and third picks, Sophia was still thinking it over.
When Kathy found out that Jennifer had given such an important task to Sophia, she tried to cozy up to Sophia, hoping to get picked for the fashion show.
If her designs could be showcased at the fashion show, it would be a huge deal.
This would be a major boost to her resume on the road to success.
"Miss Kelly, we're all ordering takeout for lunch. Want to join us?"
During lunch break, everyone was ordering takeout, and Kathy specifically asked Sophia.
Sophia declined, "No, you guys go ahead."
Sometimes, when everyone was busy, they'd just grab takeout for lunch, but Sophia never ordered takeout. After asking her a couple of times, everyone just assumed Sophia didn't do takeout.
But Kathy kept pestering Sophia, acting like they were best friends.
Everyone noticed but kept quiet.
Larry, though, couldn't hold back and quietly grumbled to Sophia, "Why does she have to drag you into everything she does lately?"
Sophia chuckled, "Beats me."
"Is she trying to take my spot in your heart?"
The more Larry thought about it, the more it seemed possible.
Sophia said, "You're overthinking it."
Larry persisted, "My gut feeling is spot on, Sophia. You can't let her win."
Sophia definitely wasn't going to let Kathy win. She wasn't about to forget how Kathy had treated her at the Lancaster Group.
And Kathy's scheming with Patricia—if she hadn't quickly distanced herself from Patricia, she might not even be here now.
Kathy had used Patricia to get into Fusion Dynamics Corporation. Originally, Celeste wanted Kathy out, but Jennifer thought that after all the drama, firing Kathy would just fuel the rumor mill.
Luckily, Kathy was behaving herself now, so they let her stay and learn.
It was no secret that Sophia was the heir to the Blackwoods. So, Jennifer and Celeste openly focused on grooming her, and no one dared to challenge it.
Sophia had lunch with Jennifer. The Blackwoods sent meals over every day, which were clean and nutritious.
"Have you picked your team?" Jennifer asked while eating.
Sophia nodded, "Yeah, Larry, Anouk Wallace, and Ellen Hayes."
Jennifer nodded approvingly, "Larry's diligent and serious, and the other two are also very talented. With them on your team, this fashion show will be a hit."
Jennifer was excited, wondering if Sophia would surprise her.
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed. No matter what she did, Jennifer always encouraged and praised her, making her feel almost overconfident.
Next, Sophia got busy with preparations and designing.
The outfits for this fashion show were all designed by Fusion Dynamics Corporation's designers. Each participant had to submit a piece, and only the selected ones would be showcased.
When Kathy saw Sophia taking Larry, Anouk, and Ellen to a meeting, she knew she was out of the running.
She bit her lip in frustration and decided to give her best in the upcoming design submissions.
Kathy was really upset and couldn't accept it.
Even though she had more design experience than Sophia, Sophia always outshone her in everything.
The more Kathy thought about it, the more bitter she felt, and her mind started to twist.
'Just wait. Once I graduate from Fusion Dynamics Corporation, I'll succeed and stand at the top of the design world. One day, I'll surpass Sophia!' Kathy vowed to herself.
Sophia couldn't care less about what Kathy thought. After assigning the tasks, she focused on her design work.
During her travels, she not only had fun but also got a lot of design inspiration.
She needed to quickly jot down these ideas.
At the Lancaster Group, Alex brought in a document.
Although Tiffany had gone mad, Dylan hadn't. Dylan admitted to his crimes, and as an accomplice, he got the punishment he deserved.
