Chapter 59 Learning from Ethan

Gabriel informed Alfred about Sam's changes throughout the day. He lowered his head and sent the message to Alfred. Tiffany knocked on the door and entered, finding Gabriel looking at his phone. She walked straight to him and sat down beside him.

A special fragrance wafted in the air. Gabriel pressed send and turned his head to see Tiffany. His eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Can't sleep?" he asked.

Tiffany had just taken a shower. She was wearing a summer dress that revealed her charm. At this moment, her gaze was seductive, with a hint of playfulness.

She reached out to hold Gabriel's arm, trying to cuddle up to him.

But Gabriel abruptly stood up. "I'm going to take a shower."

At that moment, his eyebrows furrowed tightly, and an unnamed anger suddenly surged within him.

This wasn't like him at all.

He had always been in control of himself. Even with Tiffany by his side all these years, he had never been swayed. It wasn't possible for him to lose his composure just because Tiffany was there.

Today was really strange.

Gabriel quickly went to the bathroom, leaving Tiffany behind, frustrated and unwilling to give up.

Half an hour later, Gabriel came out wearing a bathrobe. He thought Tiffany should have gone back to her room by now. As he stepped out of the bathroom, he froze. Tiffany was already lying on his bed, making her intentions clear.

Gabriel felt some irritability in his heart.

He understood Tiffany, but it wasn't appropriate now.

He couldn't risk hurting Tiffany.

His strange illness prevented him from engaging in too many intimate actions with her.

If his illness couldn't be cured, maybe he should let Tiffany go.

"Gabriel, can you let me stay by your side tonight?" she pleaded softly, her voice full of helplessness.

She couldn't believe that Gabriel still didn't understand her intentions at this point.

"You know, I'm afraid I won't be able to control my illness and end up hurting you."

"You're not sick, Gabriel. You're not sick at all."

If he truly had an illness, why did he embrace Sophia today? Why didn't he become irritable and hurt her because of his closeness to Sophia?

She wanted to question him, but she didn't dare.

Today, when she followed him to find Sam, she accidentally saw Gabriel hugging Sophia, with bite marks on his neck from Sophia!

Gabriel's face darkened, a faint fragrance emanated, and the fire within him ignited once again.

If he still didn't know what was going on until now, then his position as the richest man would be in vain.

"Back then, when I mentioned breaking up, it was because you didn't want to. Now, I'll give you another chance. You decide whether to stay or leave."

Gabriel coldly left these words and turned to leave.

"No!" Tiffany threw off the covers and rushed over, tightly embracing him from behind.

"Gabriel, I love you. I can't be without you. I know that I...
"Now I'm forcing you a bit, but I... I'm getting older, and I also want to have a healthy child so they can keep Sam company."

Gabriel's impatience was on the verge of breaking through. In order to not hurt Tiffany, he quickly pulled her away and took several steps back.

"Think about what I just said."

With that, he stormed off, leaving Tiffany with a heartless silhouette.

Tiffany slumped to the ground.

Five years!

A whole five years had passed. When Gabriel first got the strange illness and couldn't find a cure, he suggested that she seek happiness again.

She had finally come this far, becoming his woman. How could she easily give up?

Naturally, she wouldn't leave. And sure enough, Gabriel treated her better and better, giving her whatever she wanted. Her vanity grew with each passing day, repeatedly satisfied.

He made her the object of envy for all women.

But those women didn't know that she hadn't truly captured Gabriel's heart.

Perhaps even Gabriel himself didn't know his true feelings.

Gabriel sat in the living room, feeling restless, wanting to smoke, but couldn't find any cigarettes, so he settled for drinking a glass of ice water instead.

He believed he liked Tiffany. He had developed a favorable impression of her during their time abroad, which led him to readily agree to marry her.

But then they were separated for a period, and during that time, an unexpected person appeared—Sophia.

Life is unpredictable. Who could have imagined that he would suddenly fall ill? He didn't want to hold Tiffany back, so he suggested they separate. However, she chose to stay and became his exclusive psychiatrist, and he treated her even better because of it.

His condition hadn't improved until now, and tonight Tiffany's actions made him reconsider their relationship.

As long as Tiffany was willing, they could be just friends in the future, and she could find a suitable partner again.

After sitting for half an hour, Gabriel went upstairs again, but instead of returning to his own bedroom, he went to Sam's room.

Sam had just laid down, and after texting with Ethan for a while, he wasn't as scared anymore.

The door suddenly opened, and Sam opened his eyes, looking at the tall figure against the backlight. He immediately recognized it as his father.

As Gabriel approached, he noticed that Sam was still awake, and his expression softened.

"Are you scared?"

Sam shook his head.

"Then why haven't you fallen asleep yet?"

Sam: ...

Gabriel lifted the covers and lay down, squeezing in next to his son.

"Daddy will sleep with you, be good."

Sam felt happy in his heart, but...

"Daddy isn't sleeping with Mrs. Foster?" he gestured.

Gabriel's eyes were deep, appearing even darker in the night.

"Mrs. Foster is an adult. She doesn't get scared."

Sam still remembered how fierce Mrs. Foster was in the bathroom, scaring him.

He didn't want to act like a clingy little child, but now it was his dad who was clinging onto him. He remembered Ethan's words, "We men can't be afraid, otherwise we won't be able to protect the people we care about the most."

He didn't seem to have anyone to protect since his dad was strong and didn't need his protection. But his dad wouldn't take care of himself... and he remembered Ethan saying, "My mom isn't good at taking care of herself, so I worry more. I can take care of my mom now." Sam's worries disappeared in an instant.

He wanted to learn from Ethan and learn to take care of his dad on his own. So, the little guy, nuzzled up to Gabriel and, for the first time, fell asleep holding onto his dad's arm, feeling completely safe.

Before, when he slept with his dad, he wouldn't dare to move or hold onto him to avoid disturbing his sleep.

Gabriel was surprised by Sam's actions, but being reliant on by the child, his heart softened. He shifted slightly, as if using his tall figure as a wall to protect the child from all danger.

Gabriel canceled the trip to the farm the next day. Early in the morning, he packed his things, had breakfast, and then carried Sam into the car to leave. Inside the car, Tiffany's face was pale and tired.

She hadn't slept all night and was very afraid that Gabriel was going to break up with her.
