Chapter 238 Mommy Loves You

However, Emma was still upset, and Sam needed to make things right with her.

He picked up the snacks scattered across the floor one by one, then called David to buy some more and deliver them. He stuffed them all into Emma's arms and had the teacher move his seat back.

Emma pouted.

"If you want my forgiveness, that's fine," she said, "but you have to swear, never ignore us again."

Sam immediately raised his fist and swore.

"From now on, you have to share your thoughts with us," Emma insisted.

Sam nodded.

Emma's face broke into a wide grin.

"I want to be your older sister!"

Sam shook his head. He had asked Great-Grandma, who said Emma was born after him and was, therefore, the younger sibling.

Emma, knowing she couldn't be the older sister, let out a wistful sigh. With a coy gesture, she stretched out her arms. "Hug?"

Sam embraced her, resolving internally never to push Emma away again, no matter what. 'Sister is there to be doted on, the most adorable creatures in the world. It was pitiful to see her cry.

Naive little Sam had no idea he was already wrapped around his sister's finger.

"Is your hand okay? Does your bottom still hurt?" Sam asked, concerned about examining Emma for injuries.

Emma shook her head vigorously. "It doesn't hurt anymore. I'm all better."

It didn't hurt at all – she'd fallen on purpose, just like what she had seen on TV shows.

Though Sam had reconciled with Ethan and Emma, he remained concerned about their mom seemingly not wanting him. Whenever Ethan or Emma mentioned Sophia, Sam would fall silent. If they talked about anything else, he would respond.

Slowly, Ethan picked up on this and furrowed his brows in thought.

Before school ended, the teacher announced that there would be a parent-child event at the preschool and instructed the kids to inform their parents. The event didn't require both parents to attend, but one parent must accompany their child. The teacher also sent out details of the event to all the parents.

On the school bus ride home, Ethan and Emma decided that since their mom had always attended such events with them, this time it would be right for her to accompany Sam.

...

Tiffany stared intently at her phone after watching the interaction video of the three kids.

Originally, Sam wouldn't give the other two the time of day, but those clever kids had tricked Sam with a staged fall.

To her, such a trick was child's play, but it was enough to fool Sam into accepting them.

'Damn, those kids are not going to be easy to handle.

The older one, Ethan, is like a mini version of Gabriel – wily beyond her years, with a high level of alertness.

The younger one, Emma, is spirited and cunning, with tears that could come on cue and a knack for deception, even at a tender age.

This is a testament to the children Sophia raises. What would Gabriel do if he found out Sophia had led their kids astray?

No, there is no way Gabriel could find out.

However, he will eventually uncover the truth.

So, she... she has to take them out, one by one, before he did.

The issue is that the two kids are inseparable, always together, which makes it difficult to make a move.' Tiffany thought.

This time, Tiffany was far more cautious. She dared not act rashly against the three of them again. If she did, she couldn't be sure whether Gabriel would trace it back to her.

Tiffany turned off the video.

She had now set her eyes on the daycare, closely monitoring the three children's every move there. Sadly, she felt too hesitant to act these days. In the past, she would've bribed a teacher to infiltrate their circle and create a rift between them.

Sophia was the root of her current state!

Initially, she thought of simply doing away with Sophia but then felt like that would let Sophia off too easy.

She had to take out the kids gradually, making Sophia lose everything.

Only then would Sophia experience the deepest agony, a true personal hell.

Sam never joined in on the daycare's family events, not because his dad wouldn't accompany him, but because he disliked them.

However, this time, Ethan and Emma insisted that their mom should come with them.

Sam shook his head in direct refusal.

Emma asked, "Haven't you always wanted a mom? Now you have one, why don't you want her to join the activity with you?"

Sam remained silent.

Ethan probed, "Do you think because mom left you, you don't want her anymore?"

His silence this time was an admission.

Emma frantically explained, "You can't think that way about mom, she's the best mom in the world. She never abandoned you, she thinks about you every day."

'Does she? Then why had she neglected him for five years?'

Ethan felt it was time for Sam to know the truth. He looked at Sam seriously.

"Mom secretly took Emma and me out of the country. She's been through a lot and thought you were dead. She never knew you were still alive."

Sam's eyes widened in disbelief.

Emma, nodding vigorously, confirmed, "Come home with us this afternoon and you’ll see for yourself. Mom really loves you."

Still hesitant, when school ended, Ethan and Emma didn't bother with whether Sam was still conflicted. They had their godmother take them straight home.

Sophia wasn't back from work yet when Sam stepped into this house he had visited countless times before.

Ethan and Emma yanked a box from a cabinet. Inside, there were various trinkets and numerous clothes.

"Look at this, everything here is made by Mommy with love. You got everything Ethan has, all handcrafted by Mommy herself."

Sam remembered the little tiger his great-grandmother had shown him, saying it was also made by Mommy's own hands.

"On our birthdays, Mommy would secretly hold this box and cry," Ethan confessed, having caught her doing it multiple times.

"Mommy never planned to stay in Z Country, but when she found out you were still alive, she decided to stay."

"Mommy is still afraid to tell you the truth, worried you couldn't handle it."

"Mommy really loves you very much."

Sam's little hand clenched a small bell, his eyes welling up with tears.

'So, Mommy hadn't abandoned him?!'

"If you don't believe it, why not spend more time with Mommy? Just truly feel it, and you'll know whether she loves you," Ethan offered a great piece of advice.

Caroline watched silently, giving the kids a thumbs-up.

They were the strongest allies.

Sam had clearly been moved.

Before Sophia got home, Sam left the Blue End Apartments.

The two sweethearts asked their godmother not to tell Mommy because they wanted to surprise her.

When Sophia returned, she sensed an odd atmosphere in the house but didn't dwell on it. All she wanted to know was how to make Sam forgive her.

She hadn't meant to leave him with Gabriel.

Around nine o'clock that evening, Gabriel called. Sophia thought he would update her on Sam.

Indeed, he did.

Gabriel was puzzled. Not only had Sam asked to take part in the preschool's parent-child event, but he also requested that Sophia accompany him.

Sophia thought she had misheard and asked again.

"What did you say?"
