Chapter 360 Couldn't Raise for Nothing

"Let's leave it for now and eat it when we're hungry," Caroline said with a smile as she put the cake away and began the lesson.

She first checked the homework assigned from the last lesson.

"This part is wrong. When you pull this section, your fingers need to be on this string," Caroline said, standing behind Josie and bending down to adjust her fingers.

A faint fragrance from Caroline wafted over, and Josie took a deep breath.

She thought Caroline smelled really nice and fragrant, and there was something about Caroline that made her want to get closer.

But she had promised Daisy not to get close to Caroline.

She didn't want to lose Daisy, nor did she want to lose Nicholas.

Josie suppressed the urge to get closer and focused on her studies.

"That's right, just like that. Great job, Josie."

Josie smiled; she was praised again.

"If you can learn this piece by next time, I'll grant you a wish."

Josie's eyes sparkled, but soon the light faded, and she nodded slightly.

Seeing her dejected look, Caroline became even more puzzled.

Before, whenever she praised Josie, Josie would smile happily. Whenever she brought Josie little gifts, Josie would be very happy and affectionate.

But now, Josie seemed to have lost interest in all of it.

"Has something happened recently?" Caroline asked with concern.

'Did Daisy make Josie do something bad again?'

Josie shook her head. "No."

"Then why aren't you happy?"

"I'm not unhappy."

Caroline patted her head and said, "Josie, remember, I will always be your teacher. If you're unhappy, you must tell me. Talking about unhappy things will make you feel better."

"Okay, I understand. Thank you," Josie replied politely and sensibly.

After finishing the lesson, Caroline packed up and left.

Josie also packed up her violin and took it to Nicholas's office.

Nicholas had given her two violins. One was a bit old, but she liked it and used it for practice at home. The other was brand new and kept here for lessons.

Nicholas said this way, Josie wouldn't have to carry the violin back and forth every day.

"Dad," Josie said as she put the violin away and walked over.

Nicholas stopped typing and looked at Josie gently.

"What's up?"

"Can we go out for dinner tonight?"

Emma said her parents would take her out to eat, and they could have lots of delicious food.

She wanted to experience that, too.

"Sure," Nicholas agreed to Josie's every request.

"Can we invite Mom too?"

"You want to invite her?" Nicholas asked in return.

Josie hesitated for a second but then nodded.

A glint of surprise flashed in Nicholas' eyes.

Daisy held too much weight in Josie's heart!

"Tonight, I'll take you out to eat. Next time, we'll invite her, okay?"

"Okay."

Josie didn't insist on inviting Daisy, but she felt a bit disappointed that they wouldn't be going out for dinner as a family.

"What do you want to eat?" Nicholas asked.

"Stew."

Emma said stew was the best thing in the world.

"Alright."

Nicholas had Sharpe book a stew restaurant. After finishing a document, Nicholas took Josie to eat stew.

They arrived late, and the restaurant was already crowded, but Sharpe had made a reservation in advance and secured a private room.

Charles pushed Nicholas, and Josie was carried by Sharpe.

As they passed the stairs, Gabriel was coming down with Emma in his arms, followed by Sophia holding Ethan and Sam's hands.

Nicholas raised an eyebrow. Their eyes met, and they nodded to each other.

"Josie!" Emma called out excitedly.

Friends meeting each other was always a joy. Gabriel put Emma down, and she ran to Josie, grabbing her hand and spinning around happily.

"Josie, are you here to eat stew, too? I'm telling you, this place is amazing. You have to try the beef; it's super delicious."

"Emma, are you done eating?" Josie asked quietly.

There were many people here, and she didn't dare speak too loudly.

"My tummy is so full," Emma said, patting her little belly. "You have to eat until you're full, too."

"Okay."

Gabriel walked over. "Emma, it's time to go."

Emma reluctantly held Josie's hand and looked at Nicholas. "Uncle Nicholas, can I invite Josie to my house next week?"

Nicholas looked at Josie. "Do you want to go?"

Josie nervously nodded.

"Sure," Nicholas said to Emma.

"Thank you, Uncle Nicholas." Emma waved to Josie. "Bye, Josie."

"Bye."

Gabriel picked up Emma and said, "Mr. Watson, enjoy your meal. We'll be leaving now."

Nicholas said, "Mr. Lancaster, goodbye."

Sophia didn't say a word the whole time. She stared intently at Josie until Ethan tugged at her. She then nodded to Nicholas and left with the two children.

Nicholas raised an eyebrow slightly and thought, 'So, they are Gabriel's children!'

'Isn't it said that Gabriel only has one child?'

Nicholas wasn't a gossipy person. The doubt flashed through his mind and then disappeared. He took Josie into the private room.

This was Josie's first time eating stew. She was already drooling from the smell. Since Josie couldn't eat much, Nicholas didn't order a lot.

Nicholas served Josie the whole time. Josie ate the delicious food, thinking that Emma's recommendation was indeed good.

Daisy was waiting at home for Nicholas and Josie to return when her friend suddenly called.

"I saw Nicholas."

"Where?"

"At a restaurant with Josie."

Daisy hung up and hurried upstairs to change clothes.

"Daisy, are you going out?" Gummidge asked, seeing her with a handbag.

"Yes, I'm going to find Nicholas."

"Then you should hurry."

Daisy changed her shoes and left. Gummidge brought over some fruit and said to Aragorn, "Honey, I think it's not good for Daisy to stay at the Watson family without a proper status."

Aragorn ate the apple Gummidge handed him.

"You're right. At the birthday party next week, I plan to officially announce Daisy will marry into the Watson family."

Gummidge's eyes widened in surprise. "But Nicholas won't agree."

"He has no choice. I will also announce Josie's identity, telling everyone that Josie is Daisy's biological daughter."

"Nicholas will agree for the sake of his daughter."

A shrewd glint flashed in Aragorn's eyes. Caroline's daughter should be of some use. After all these years, she couldn't have been raised for nothing.

A marriage between the two families was well-matched and only beneficial to the Watson family.
