Chapter 639 Lesson
Gabriel grinned like a goofball.
Sophia was a bit surprised, but her heart melted. She grabbed a plate of food.
"Here, have some more."
Gabriel thought to himself, 'I'm already stuffed, do I really need more?'
But he ate more and even downed a bowl of soup, just to make her happy.
Being pampered by Sophia made Gabriel feel on top of the world. Whatever she wanted him to eat, he ate.
Around eight, Sophia headed out.
Sophia and Ruth lived together at The Blackwood Villa.
Ruth was still up, waiting for Sophia.
"Sophia, come here."
Sophia sat down next to Ruth.
Ruth beamed, "I've got some good news. Tiffany's been nabbed by the local cops."
Sophia was shocked, but before she could say anything, Ruth went on excitedly, "Gabriel made it happen. I told you, he's over Tiffany. She tried to pull a fast one on him, but it backfired."
"We can't keep her locked up forever, but she'll think twice before messing with Gabriel or you again."
Ruth had been dying to share the news since she heard it from Harrison, all to help Gabriel win Sophia over.
Gabriel had been working hard to win Sophia's heart.
"Sophia, aren't you happy?" Ruth asked with a grin.
Sophia was thrilled; she couldn't wait for Tiffany to get what she deserved.
"Yeah, I am."
Ruth patted her hair lovingly.
"You've had a rough few days. Get some rest tonight. Once Gabriel's eyes are better, we'll head back home."
"Okay, let me take you to your room."
"Alright."
Sophia walked Ruth to her room, and after making sure she was settled, she turned off the light and left.
The kids were already asleep, so Sophia checked on them.
Before heading to her room, she noticed David wasn't home yet.
She went to ask Colin.
Colin said, "Dad's been super busy lately. He won't be back until midnight. Don't worry, he's got plenty of protection. He'll be fine."
What happened to Gabriel had Sophia worried about everyone.
Colin ruffled her hair affectionately.
"Our Blackwood family has been around forever. A word from Grandma or Dad, and people think twice before crossing us."
Even though Fusion Dynamics Corporation and the Blackwood Group hit some bumps in their move, they knew better than to mess with the Blackwoods.
"Thanks, Colin. I'm heading to bed." Sophia felt a bit more at ease.
Colin smiled, "Good night."
"Good night."
The next day, Gabriel's eyes were much better; he could see pretty clearly, and his other injuries were healing too.
David went with Sophia to visit Gabriel.
After breakfast, Sophia took the kids home, but David stayed behind.
Harrison was also in the room.
David clearly had something on his mind.
Gabriel, sitting on the hospital bed, asked, "Uncle David, is there something you want to tell me?"
David, too tired to correct Gabriel's way of addressing him, sat down with an air of authority and a serious tone, "Did you tick off Owen Martinez?"
"Owen Martinez?"
Gabriel racked his brain, trying to place the name.
Owen was a local gang leader, known for his iron fist and shady business deals.
Most legit business folks steered clear of Owen.
When Gabriel first came to Country M to expand his business, he learned about Owen and made sure to avoid him.
He wasn't scared of Owen, just didn't want any trouble.
He hadn't crossed paths with Owen in years, let alone ticked him off.
David spoke slowly, "Christopher stopped supplying your Lancaster Group because Owen strong-armed him. Your injury might also be Owen's doing."
"Owen loves chaos. If you didn't offend him, he probably feels threatened by your company's growth."
"If Owen's involved, this won't be easy to sort out."
David had tangled with Owen before; the guy was ruthless and unreasonable. For many business folks in Country M, dealing with Owen was a nightmare.
Gabriel nodded, "Got it. Thanks for digging up these clues."
David stood up. "No need to thank me. You helped us a lot with the Browns. It's only fair I help you now."
Gabriel knew David was returning a favor.
"Yeah, I get it."
Business folks like to keep things straight, especially with favors. They don't want to owe anyone.
"I gotta go. Take care of yourself."
"Will do. You too."
After David left, Harrison thought for a bit.
"I talked to Christopher yesterday. He didn't really want to end our partnership."
Gabriel was deep in thought.
"Look into Owen and see if he's connected to Jake."
Harrison's face changed a bit.
"You think Jake's involved?"
"Yeah."
Jake grew up in Country M, so he knew the place and its people well.
When Jake landed at the airport in Country M, Owen personally came to pick him up.
As soon as they met, Owen threw an arm around Jake's shoulder.
"Jake, long time no see. We gotta celebrate tonight. I met some beautiful girls recently," Owen said with a sly grin.
Jake coldly shrugged off Owen's arm.
"No, I'm busy."
Owen pouted, "You're always so boring."
Jake got into a luxury car, and Owen quickly followed, but just as he was about to get in, Jake shut the door.
The window rolled down.
"I've got more important things to do. I'll drink with you after."
Owen nodded, "Alright."
Owen got into another car and followed Jake's. When they reached downtown, the two cars split up.
Jake and Owen had known each other since they were kids and were good friends. Owen came from a wealthy family but was abandoned due to family drama, which made him tough. Later, when he returned to the family, he got caught up in more family struggles.
Jake helped him reclaim what was his. After that, Owen used his family's power to become a gang leader.
But in public, Jake and Owen had no connection.
In the car, Jake got a phone call, and his expression changed.
"Let's head home first."
The driver nodded and changed the route.
Then Jake said to Micah, "That useless fool, send her back."
Micah replied, "Got it!"
