Chapter 122 Stop crying
"Yeah, Mommy loves us very much, and she will love you too in the future." Emma was extremely proud. Her mommy was the best mommy in the world.
Ethan agreed wholeheartedly.
They had said these words to Sam many times before, but Sam didn't have many chances to feel that love, and to him, Sophia was just Aunt Kelly.
So every time Sam heard them talk about how amazing Mommy was, he truly felt envious.
"How about experiencing what it feels like to have a mommy tonight?" Ethan suddenly proposed.
Sam blinked his confused big eyes, his mind full of question marks.
"You can pretend to be my mommy's child and experience what it feels like to be loved by her."
Understanding Ethan's explanation, Sam got it, but...
"Yeah, yeah, adults play various roles too. So, you can pretend to be our little brother." Finally, Emma could openly play the role of a big sister!
Sam corrected her persistently, "It's big brother."
Emma didn't care; she was still a big sister!
In this strange feeling, Sam made this place his home, Ethan became his big brother, and Emma became his little sister, and Aunt Kelly became... Mommy.
Sophia came back after grocery shopping, and the three children looked at her eagerly.
"Mommy," Ethan and Emma called her in unison.
Sam also made a sound like "mom," but he didn't speak; his mouth just moved.
Sophia, with keen vision, noticed this small action.
She wasn't sure if Sam wanted to call her "Mommy."
Sophia put away the groceries and then came to play with the three children for a while.
With her presence, Sam seemed a little hesitant, sitting motionless on the carpet. Sophia sighed in her heart and eventually went into the kitchen to attend to her own tasks.
After a while, she discreetly observed. Sam started interacting with Ethan and Emma, and she felt relieved.
It seemed they needed to spend more time together as siblings.
Ethan and Emma seemed to take care of Sam, actively interacting with him and involving him in their activities.
Her two little sun shines were pulling the other little sunshine out of the abyss.
Sophia's mood was completely healed by the three children.
At the dinner table, the food was light and didn't have any chili peppers. The seasoning was also minimal, but it still smelled delicious, making one's appetite soar.
Sophia had experience taking care of Sam's eating habits. Even though Sam wanted to eat more, she still controlled his portion.
Sam felt downcast.
"I'll cook some supper for you later," she comforted him softly.
Emma got excited, "Yay, supper!"
Sophia couldn't help but laugh. This little foodie hadn't finished eating what was on her plate yet.
After dinner, Sophia took the three children downstairs for a walk. At first, Sam was a bit hesitant, but with Ethan and Emma on either side holding his hand, he finally took that step.
They only walked within the neighborhood. If they were to go outside, there would be too many people.
Sophia was worried about the change. At half-past eight, Sophia took the children home and urged them to take a bath. "How about Sam taking a bath with Ethan today? " Sam hesitated, wondering if Daddy would not come to pick him up.
"Don't you want to? " Sophia wanted them to develop a brotherly bond. In the end, Sam used sign language to say, "I'll bathe at home. " Sophia was slightly taken aback. Was he homesick? It made her heart ache.
"Why don't you sleep at Auntie's tonight? Auntie's bed is soft and fragrant, and you can sleep with Ethan and Emma. "
"Is Daddy not coming to pick me up?" Sam asked.
"He'll come pick you up tomorrow morning." Sam lowered his head. He didn't understand. Did Daddy abandon him? Why didn't he come to pick him up? Could it be true, as Auntie Gu said, that Daddy also found him repulsive?
Sam trembled all over, startling Sophia. "What's wrong, Sam? Are you uncomfortable somewhere? " Sam pressed his lips together and tears fell uncontrollably. Even Ethan and Emma were bewildered. What happened to Sam?
"Don't cry, don't be scared, Aunt Kelly is here, " Sophia hugged Sam tightly, her gentle voice slightly trembling. Ethan and Emma approached, slowly running their little hands along Sam's back. "Are you homesick? " Ethan asked in a soft voice. Sam just silently shed tears. "I'm sorry, if you want to go back home, then I'll take you back, "Sophia yielded. She didn't dare to force Sam, afraid that he would become even more withdrawn. Ethan and Emma were very worried.
They had agreed that Sam would play the role of mommy's child and see this place as his home. Suddenly, Emma felt very aggrieved and wanted to cry. She had tried so hard, but her little brother Sam still wouldn't listen. It was so difficult for her. 'Wow, I want to cry too...' Emma started crying, wailing loudly. Now Sophia had an even bigger headache. The situation became chaotic, and she didn't know who to comfort first. Ethan, who was always sensible and stable, stood dumbfounded, not knowing what to do. Emma's crying brought Sam back to his senses.
His confused eyes were still filled with tears, like a sea of stars. Why was his sister crying? He gestured, "Why are you crying?" Emma pouted and cried in a trembling voice, "Then why are you crying? " Sam explained, "I miss Daddy.' Emma said, "I miss him too... I don't have a Daddy. My Daddy went to heaven. Oh, my Daddy, how could you abandon your lovely daughter... " Sam: ... Ethan: ... Sophia: ... Where did this child learn this from? Emma cried sincerely and heartbreakingly, making people feel sorry for her. Sam rushed forward in a panic, wanting to wipe away her tears. "Stop crying. "
Emma: "I'm going to cry!"
Sam: "Then what do you need to not cry?"
Emma: "Stay here with me."
Sam: "Why?"
"Because you have a dad."
Sam: ...
Sophia never expected that Emma would conquer Sam!
She silently gave her daughter a thumbs up.
Impressive!
Though it's said that a mother knows her daughter best, Sophia was initially bewildered, but then she noticed the clues – this little troublemaker was pretending!
Sam was too occupied by Emma's antics to have any time for idle thoughts, and he even forgot about being "abandoned" by his dad.
He was afraid that Emma would cry. She looked so pitiful when she cried, and he felt sorry for his little sister.
So, in order to keep Emma from crying, he decided to stay.
Sophia was pleasantly surprised; she discovered that Sam was also a doting brother.
When she prepared a midnight snack, Sam even personally served it to Emma to please her.
Emma gave him a sour face, but Sam wasn't offended; he even helped her cool down the noodles.
What's going on? Sophia envied her own daughter a little.
With her hands supporting her cheeks, Sophia watched the three children interact and find joy even in eating noodles.
Sigh, what is there to envy? Sooner or later, she will make Sam call her "mommy!"
