Chapter 333 Misunderstanding Scene
Sophia widened her eyes, uncertainly asking, "Are you saying that I am Mr. Colin's fiancée?"
"Yes."
With the affirmative answer, Sophia was at a loss. When did she become Colin's fiancée?
Colin was also puzzled. When did he have a fiancée?
David looked at the reactions of the two, furrowing his brow slightly and looking seriously at Colin.
"Colin, what's going on?" David asked.
Jennifer was also puzzled; why were they reacting like this?
Colin felt this was simply the most embarrassing moment of his life. He finally realized what was wrong.
Jennifer and David had actually misunderstood that he and Sophia were in a romantic relationship!
They even bought a wedding house for them.
Knowing his parents, there might even be a wedding prepared.
This misunderstanding had gotten out of hand.
Colin felt ashamed, but he had to explain to his parents despite the embarrassment. "Dad, Mom, Sophia is not my girlfriend; we are just friends; there is absolutely no romantic relationship between us."
Sophia nodded heavily. She had no improper thoughts about Colin at all.
Jennifer couldn't believe it. "But didn't you say you liked Sophia?"
"When I said 'like,' it wasn't in a romantic sense." Colin rubbed his forehead. "I like Sophia as I would like a sister."
Jennifer was dumbfounded.
Oh no, she completely misunderstood Colin's intentions!
This misunderstanding made her wish she could disappear on the spot.
The air suddenly became quiet.
After a few seconds, David awkwardly cleared his throat.
"I also quite like Sophia; Jennifer, you've always wanted a daughter, right? Why not consider Sophia as your goddaughter? Then Colin will have a sister, too."
David could clearly see his son's intentions; this whole thing was just a misunderstanding on Jennifer's part.
The two young people had no romantic feelings for each other.
Colin's eyes lit up. David was really sharp, immediately recognizing his plan to have Jennifer consider Sophia as a goddaughter.
Jennifer came to her senses and quickly asked Sophia, "Sophia, would you like to be my goddaughter?"
This surprise left Sophia dizzy.
Jennifer was beautiful and kind; David looked serious, but Sophia felt warmth, not to mention Colin, who was a gentleman and friendly. Madam was also a lovely old lady. With such a loving and warm-hearted family, Sophia was more than willing to join. She nodded eagerly. "I would love to."
Now all the awkwardness dissipated, Jennifer happily sat down and held Sophia's hand.
"Good girl, call me godmom."
"Godmom."
"Not yet." Jennifer stopped her again. Sophia was puzzled.
"Wait until I have a gift ready before you call me that."
Sophia obediently agreed.
The atmosphere became even more pleasant, turning what was initially a meeting of future in-laws into a heartwarming ceremony of recognizing a goddaughter.
As the conversation flowed, Sophia gradually learned about the misunderstanding that Jennifer had. No wonder they took her along to buy a house and sought her opinions on everything. Throughout, Sophia had never suspected anything!
After dinner, as they parted ways, Jennifer still held Sophia's hand. she said with a smile, "Madam will be so happy when she finds out."
Whether Madam Blackwood would accept this outcome was uncertain, but Ethan, Emma, and Sam, the three little ones, had effectively gone from being great-grandchildren to godchildren.
"Let me pick a good day, and we'll have a formal adoption ceremony," Jennifer said.
Sophia said, "Sure. I'll follow your lead."
Watching Sophia leave, Jennifer got into the car, happily holding David's hand. "Now I have a daughter too, David. You must spoil Sophia; don't always have a stern face around her."
David replied, "I got it."
Colin got into the driver's seat.
David said, "Tomorrow morning, come with me to the Brown family."
Colin replied, "Okay."
Sophia returned home cheerfully, took a nap, and then went to the Lancaster family's old mansion to see the three children.
After being apart for a few hours, she missed them dearly.
The three little ones squatted on the second-floor balcony, looking at the gate.
When they saw a car coming in, the three children ran downstairs quickly. "Mommy."
Sophia was immediately embraced by the three children as soon as she got out of the car.
"Mommy, I thought you weren't coming." Emma rubbed her little head against Sophia.
"I knew Mommy wouldn't break her promise," Ethan said.
Sam looked up, his little mouth slightly open, and he softly said, "Mommy."
Sophia hugged him and kissed him.
After kissing Sam, she cupped his little face and said softly, "Sam, say 'Mommy' again."
Sam's mouth stayed tightly shut, his clear eyes reflecting his hopeful expression.
Just as Sophia was about to get up disappointedly, Sam's mouth opened and closed.
"Mommy."
Sophia joyfully picked up Sam and kissed him. "Sam, my Sam, you must get better quickly and talk to me more."
With Gabriel not at home, Sophia interacted freely with the children and even stayed to have dinner with them. It was not until ten o'clock that she finally coaxed the children to sleep and prepared to leave, coincidentally meeting Gabriel on his way back.
Sophia was stunned for a moment, silently changing her shoes.
Gabriel, who had gone to get slippers, paused.
"It's late; it's not safe for you to go home now. Why not stay over for the night?" Gabriel's voice sounded even more seductive in the quiet darkness of the night.
Sophia pursed her lips lightly, feeling distant and unfamiliar. "No need, thank you." She walked past him towards the outside.
Gabriel grabbed her hand. Her hand was still so delicate.
"What are you doing? Let go of me." Sophia frowned.
Gabriel quickly let go and awkwardly said, "I'll walk you."
"No need," Sophia said.
Gabriel added, "The children will worry if you leave like this. I promised the children that I would protect you."
Sophia looked at Gabriel with a strange expression.
Protect her?
Sophia laughed mockingly. "Gabriel, I don't know what your intentions are in saying such things. When I needed you in the past, you weren't by my side. Now that I don't need you, you suddenly want to protect me. Don't you think you're despicable?"
Sophia's words pricked at Gabriel's heart.
Gabriel staggered slightly. He must regret it now.
Without looking back, Sophia left, but Gabriel came to his senses and caught up.
Even if she scolded him, he had to ensure her safety. Gabriel forcefully pulled Sophia into the car. "If scolding me can make you feel better, go ahead. I won't retort, but I can't ignore your safety." After Gabriel said this dominantly, he closed the car door, not giving Sophia a chance to react, and drove off.
Sophia was seething with anger. How did Gabriel become so stubborn now? She turned her head to look out the car window.
