Chapter 775: Return from the Honeymoon
Before sleeping, Alex opened Facebook.
Harrison commented: [Alex, you finally got rid of the single status, congrats.]
Paxton: [Congrats on getting into a relationship, Alex. Remember to treat us.]
Other secretaries: [Congrats, Alex. Remember to treat us.]
Other subordinates: [Congrats, Mr. Scott. That's so romantic.]
Sophia: [Congrats, you two are a perfect match.]
Gabriel posted a question mark.
The next day, Clara was heading to the company and saw Alex as soon as she stepped out.
"Why are you here so early?" Clara was both surprised and delighted.
Alex replied, "I came to take you to breakfast and then drop you off at work."
Clara linked arms with Alex.
She thought Alex had come very early, but Alex didn't explain that he had also booked a room next door.
When he went to check out Clara's room, he checked out his own room as well.
At nine o'clock, Clara arrived at the company and was immediately called over by Oliver before she could sit down.
Oliver had a stern face and stared at Clara seriously.
"Are you with Gabriel's assistant?" Oliver asked.
Clara felt nervous. Her parents had a strong sense of family identity and had previously wanted Clara to find a husband who would give up his own status to help manage the Taylor Group. When they realized that no one in the upper circles was willing, they gave up on the idea.
They always wanted to find her a well-matched partner.
Now that she was with Alex, given Alex's family background, her parents would definitely not approve of him.
Clara had thought all night about how to deal with Oliver and Cynthia. The only solution she could think of was to insist on herself.
But seeing Oliver's graying hair, she couldn't say anything.
She nodded.
Oliver's face immediately turned cold, his gaze darkened, and the atmosphere became oppressive.
Clara whispered, "You've always told me to find an excellent person, and you said that excellent people are surrounded by other excellent people. Alex is Gabriel's assistant. Apart from his ordinary family background, everything else about him is great."
"You've just started dating, and you're already speaking up for him?"
"I'm just being honest."
Oliver snorted coldly, "You're the one dating, and you'll be the one getting married in the future. Think it through yourself. As long as his family has good character, and his parents and siblings aren't malicious, and he can distinguish right from wrong, you can decide on your own."
Clara looked up, eyes wide in surprise at Oliver. "You're not against it?"
Oliver grumbled, "You already grew up. What's the use of me opposing?"
He knew Clara wasn't just infatuated with love. Choosing Alex meant she had rationally considered all aspects besides liking him.
Moreover, they were just dating now. They might break up soon if they don't get along.
Clara let out a breath and complained, "You scared me to death just now."
"Because you didn't come home last night."
Clara giggled and hugged Oliver's arm, acting spoiled, "I was afraid you and Mom would scold me."
"Your mom is very angry. You'll have to coax her when you get home today."
"Dad, if you don't help me coax Mom, you might have to sleep in the guest room tonight."
Oliver glared at Clara fiercely, helpless and impatient, "Get out, you brat."
Clara laughed and went out.
It seemed she had passed the hurdle with her parents.
Gabriel and Sophia went on a month-long honeymoon, returning earlier than Nicholas and Caroline.
Ruth had the chef prepare a full table of dishes to welcome them back from their honeymoon.
The three kids cried when they saw Gabriel and Sophia, missing them dearly.
Gabriel stood at the entrance, arms open, waiting for the kids to run into his embrace.
The three kids bypassed him and all rushed into Sophia's arms.
Gabriel fell silent.
Sophia laughed, giving Gabriel a smug look, and hugged the three kids.
"Mommy, we missed you so much." Emma's eyes were red, "I haven't had a meal or slept with you for thirty days."
Ethan and Sam also leaned dependently on Sophia's shoulders.
Gabriel came over, scooped up Sam and Ethan with one hand each, and set them aside.
He noticed that Sam and Ethan had grown taller and heavier. He used to lift them easily, but now it took more effort.
"Only miss Mommy, not Daddy?" Gabriel squinted his eyes.
Sam said softly, "We miss daddy too."
Ethan pouted, "Without Daddy, my livestream gifts have decreased."
"Come on in," Ruth called from the living room.
Gabriel and Sophia carried the three kids inside. The servants had already moved their luggage upstairs.
One of the suitcases was left in the living room, filled with gifts for the kids.
The gifts were some quirky items they found at each place they visited, not very expensive but unique.
The kids were overjoyed, sitting on the floor, sharing their gifts with each other.
"Grandma, this is for you." Sophia took out a vinyl record.
Ruth took it and examined it closely.
"What is this?"
"It was an out-of-print vinyl record. We found it at a second-hand market. Do you like it?"
Ruth loved the gift.
She usually enjoyed listening to classical music and had collected quite a few classical music records.
Not only that, but Betty and the driver James also received gifts.
The family had a lively dinner.
In the evening, Sophia put the three kids to bed.
Emma placed her hand on Sophia's belly and felt around. "Mommy, is there a baby in here?"
Sophia felt confused, "No."
Emma was disappointed. "All right then."
Sophia pinched her cheek. "Do you want a little brother or sister?"
"In TV shows, the male and female leads always have a baby after their honeymoon."
"Emma, you should watch less TV."
Sophia coaxed the three kids to sleep. Watching their adorable sleeping faces, Sophia fell into deep thought.
She already had three kids, so she never thought about having more. Besides, she had some health issues from her previous deliveries, making it difficult to conceive again.
So even if she wanted to have more, she couldn't.
After the kids were sound asleep, Sophia returned to the master bedroom.
"Do you have time tomorrow?" Gabriel put down his documents and looked at her tenderly.
"What's up? We're having lunch at the Blackwood Manor tomorrow, and nothing planned for the afternoon."
"The doctor I asked Alex to contact last year has returned. I've arranged for him to help you with your health tomorrow afternoon."
Sophia immediately thought about having children.
'Does Gabriel want more kids?' she wondered.
Gabriel pulled her to sit on his lap, placing his hand on her lower abdomen.
"You are always very painful in your periods. This doctor specializes in treating that. Once you're cured, you won't have to suffer anymore."
"Just for menstrual pain?"
Gabriel rested his chin on her shoulder and whispered ambiguously in her ear, "Not just that. You always say it hurts after we make love. Your body is too weak. Besides that, you should start working out with me."
Sophia was stunned.
