Chapter 570 Completely Cleared Out

Twilight was creeping over The Wolf Mansion, and Linda realized it was getting late. Diana had promised to be back before dinner, but she was still MIA. Linda was starting to get worried and was about to call when she heard a car pull up.

"Diana, what's up?"

Linda could tell right away something was off with Diana.

'Did someone mess with her?' Linda wondered.

Diana looked at Linda, her eyes all teary, and suddenly hugged her tight.

Linda held her close, patting her shoulder gently. "Diana, spill it. What happened? I'll back you up."

Diana, sounding all stuffed up, said, "Nothing, I just watched a super emotional movie this afternoon."

Linda let out a sigh of relief.

"A movie got you this worked up?" She playfully tapped Diana's nose, still seeing her as a kid.

Diana felt a bit awkward.

"I had the chef whip up a bunch of your favorite dishes. Come on, let's eat."

Linda led Diana to the dining room.

Diana wasn't really hungry, but she didn't want to turn down Linda's kindness, so she sat down and nibbled a bit.

When she got back to her room, Diana finally let herself cry under the covers.

Her resolve was crumbling.

Yeah, all because of what Mia said.

Because of Paul, the guy she liked.

She wanted to help Paul.

She wanted to marry Paul.

Turns out, the seemingly carefree Paul had a rough life behind the scenes.

He must be struggling, having to fend off his half-brother's schemes while acting all cool in front of everyone.

Diana really felt for Paul.

So, her heart was starting to lean.

But when Diana got home and felt Linda's love, she couldn't bear to let her down.

The balance started to even out again.

Diana was now in a world of pain and confusion, not knowing what to do.

She slept fitfully, dreaming the whole time.

In her dream, she chose Paul and decided to keep the truth hidden. When Linda found out, the look of disappointment in her eyes tore Diana apart.

Linda asked why she did it.

They had saved her life, after all.

Yeah, if it weren't for the Wolfs paying for her treatment, she wouldn't be here now.

The moment Diana opened her eyes, she made her choice.

She took out the paternity test from her bag and was about to leave the room to tell Linda.

Just then, Mia called.

Diana didn't pick up.

But as she opened the door and stepped out, Mia's text came through.

Diana glanced at it, her eyes widening, and her hands started to shake.

"Diana, why are you up so early today?" Linda was coming upstairs and saw her standing there, dazed, holding some papers.

Hearing her voice, Diana quickly hid the report behind her back.

"I couldn't sleep, Mom. I'll go freshen up and join you for breakfast."

"Okay." Linda smiled warmly, thinking Diana's weird behavior was still because of the movie she watched yesterday.

Back in her room, Diana didn't hesitate. She tore the paternity test into pieces and flushed them down the toilet.

She watched the fragments swirl away, pressed the flush button, and the water quickly washed them away.

"Mom, I'm sorry."

Tears rolled down Diana's cheeks and fell into the toilet.

After some treatment, Nicholas's leg was starting to get more sensation back.

Simon gritted his teeth and gave a hard pinch.

Nicholas winced.

"Does it hurt?" Simon asked.

Nicholas nodded.

Simon patted Nicholas's leg. "Your leg's bouncing back. Looks like this massage and acupuncture combo is doing the trick."

"Your blood and energy are all jammed up. Today, I'm gonna hit your upper body with some needles." Simon glanced at Sharpe and then at Caroline, pointing at her. "You're my assistant."

Caroline nodded, not wanting to argue. Simon was treating her too, and she didn't want him messing with her meds.

They headed into the room, and Simon pulled out his tools, giving Caroline instructions.

"Take off his shirt."

Caroline muttered, "He can do it himself."

Simon shot her a look. "Just do it."

Caroline didn't dare argue and went along with it.

Nicholas was in a plain white shirt. Caroline reached out to unbutton it, planning to let Nicholas handle it when Simon wasn't looking. But when she glanced back, Simon was staring right at her. Startled, she quickly unbuttoned Nicholas's shirt without thinking.

In her rush, Caroline's fingers brushed his skin a few times.

Nicholas whispered in her ear, "I know you didn't mean to."

It was a simple sentence, but his tone, with a light, knowing laugh at the end, carried an unexpected hint of intimacy.

Simon felt a bit excited inside!

When Nicholas's waist, slimmer than a woman's, was exposed, Caroline's heart started racing.

"Simon, it's done."

Simon nodded seriously and handed her a cotton swab dipped in medicine, pointing to an acupuncture point.

"Rub here."

Caroline did as told, and Simon slowly inserted a needle.

"Here."

Simon pointed to another spot, and Caroline rubbed it. Soon, Nicholas's back was almost covered with needles.

Simon then brought over a machine and directed Caroline.

"Clip these to the needle ends. Be gentle, don't hurt him."

Sweat started to bead on Caroline's forehead. The task wasn't physically hard, but it was mentally draining, requiring her full focus and careful attention.

Simon kept inserting needles into Nicholas's chest and even his head.

Nicholas looked like a porcupine.

Caroline followed Simon's instructions, and suddenly Nicholas's eyelids drooped, and he leaned to one side. She quickly supported him, looking at Simon in panic.

"Simon, what's wrong with him?"

Simon calmly replied, "He's just asleep. Don't let the needles fall out."

Caroline had no choice but to sit opposite Nicholas, letting his forehead rest on her shoulder while she held his shoulders.

Simon also sat on a low stool, crossing his legs. His eyes wandered over Nicholas and Caroline before he idly picked up his violin to fill the silence.

Caroline was very surprised.

Previously, Simon had given her the impression of being a stern and rigid old man.

Simon was highly skilled but had a bad temper.

Today, Caroline added another word to describe Simon: eccentric!

And his violin playing sounded like it was meant to drive people to despair.

Caroline couldn't help but speak up, "Simon, you're playing it wrong."

"What?" Simon stopped.

Caroline pointed to his hand. "The first note and the second note are different. It should be..."
