Chapter 643 Happiness
Right now, Gabriel was at a loss for words to describe how he felt.
All these years, he’d been under the impression that Tiffany was his savior, and in the process, he’d hurt the real hero, Sophia.
Gabriel was a mess of guilt, anger, and a weird hint of happiness.
A few days back in Country M, when Sophia was helping with his blurry vision, he felt this strong sense of déjà vu, and a little suspicion crept in.
But without solid proof, he couldn’t just go with his gut.
Gabriel asked quietly, "How do you know Tiffany was interning at that hospital back then?"
He knew about Tiffany’s internship since she was in psychology, and he was pretty clued up on her work history.
But the timing didn’t add up.
Tiffany had told him her internship was after he’d recovered.
Sophia was ready and pulled up a photo on her phone.
"Here’s Tiffany’s internship record from that hospital."
She’d gotten Caroline to dig up the evidence last time.
Gabriel’s face darkened.
Back then, he’d identified Tiffany by a button, and everything she said fit.
He was so caught up in the joy of finding her that he didn’t check the details.
Gabriel had gone back to the hospital to ask the doctors, and they’d confirmed Tiffany was the one who took care of him.
Now, he thought maybe the doctor had been bribed by Tiffany, just like that time she bribed the nurse.
"Was it really you?" Gabriel’s eyes got a bit red as he looked at Sophia, his voice soft and shaky.
Sophia said, "It was me, Gabriel. I remember everything from back then. I can tell you all about it."
Because she liked him and cared about him, she remembered every detail of their time together.
Everything Tiffany didn’t know, she did.
Gabriel reached out and hugged her, excited.
"No need to say more. I believe you. It was you, it was always you." Gabriel’s body shook as he hugged her tighter and tighter.
Sophia was completely wrapped up in his arms.
"I’m sorry." Gabriel’s lips brushed the top of her head. "I can’t believe I didn’t figure this out sooner. I’m sorry. I always seem to mess things up for you. You’re right, I’m a jerk and an idiot."
Gradually, Gabriel’s voice got lower and rougher, carrying a vulnerability that made Sophia’s heart soften.
It was impossible for Sophia not to blame Gabriel, but the real villain was Tiffany.
"If only I hadn’t mistaken you," Gabriel took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
He thought, 'If I hadn’t mistaken her, I wouldn’t have fought our marriage so hard, and I wouldn’t have done those things to hurt her.'
But sadly, "if" doesn’t happen in real life.
Gabriel felt more and more indebted to Sophia, thinking that even if he spent his whole life, he might not be able to make it up to her.
Sophia said nothing, quietly letting him hold her.
Her eyes suddenly landed on the three thermoses.
"The food’s getting cold," she remembered she’d come to deliver a meal.
Gabriel hugged her tighter for a moment, then let her go.
Sophia’s hair had come loose. She’d only tied it up with a simple hair tie when she left the house, and at some point, the tie had slipped to the end of her hair, ready to fall off.
Gabriel reached out, pulled off the hair tie, and helped put her hair back up.
Sophia trembled, standing still with a glimmer of tears in her eyes.
His long, slender fingers clumsily gathered her hair and tied it back up.
"Thanks."
Gabriel smiled.
"Let's eat together."
Luckily, the thermos kept the food warm enough. It wasn’t as fresh as it had been, but neither Sophia nor Gabriel cared. They sat quietly in the office, eating without mentioning what had just happened.
Gabriel felt a bit elated, realizing he was glad that his savior was Sophia and not Tiffany.
Now it all made sense!
Because of the life-saving grace, even after he broke up with Tiffany, it seemed like he could never sever ties with her.
Now that the truth was out, he had no more ties with Tiffany.
Tiffany was thrown out, falling to the ground in a mess.
By this time, employees were returning to the company after lunch, and seeing Tiffany being forcibly thrown out, someone quickly took a photo.
Tiffany, humiliated and angry, shouted, "Don't take pictures! Stop it! Get lost, all of you!"
She was losing control, feeling very scared inside.
Tiffany thought, 'Gabriel must have believed Sophia. Who knows what else Sophia would tell him? If Gabriel finds out I pretended to be his savior, he’ll never forgive me, and my dream of becoming a wealthy wife will be completely shattered.'
Tiffany got up and tried to rush back inside.
Dylan and the bodyguard stopped her.
Dylan lowered his voice and reminded her, "Miss Foster, Mr. Lancaster is very angry right now. It won't do you any good to go back in."
Tiffany slowly calmed down, glaring at Dylan before picking up her bag and leaving.
Ten minutes later, Dylan looked around, made sure no one was watching, and got into Tiffany's car.
"Miss Foster, I had no choice just now. I'm very cautious at the company now, and I can't disobey Mr. Lancaster's orders."
Tiffany was annoyed at Dylan for throwing her out.
Dylan was still useful to her, so she couldn't break ties with him yet.
"I know, I don't blame you."
Dylan breathed a sigh of relief.
"Miss Foster, I think you should avoid Mr. Lancaster for now. Wait until he calms down."
"Okay." Tiffany placed her hands on the steering wheel, suddenly silent, lost in thought.
After a while, she said to Dylan, "Keep an eye on Gabriel's schedule for me. And if Sophia goes to see Gabriel, let me know."
"Okay." Dylan hesitated for a moment.
Tiffany asked, "Is there something you want to say?"
Dylan replied, "Since the beauty salon closed, our income has decreased. Miss Foster, should we consider starting another business?"
Tiffany said, "Help me get back to Gabriel's side, and you can start any business you want. Once I become Mrs. Lancaster, I will treat you right, and I'll take care of your son too."
Dylan smiled, "Alright, I'll definitely help you."
Soon, Dylan carefully got out of the car, making sure no one was watching, and quickly left.
Not far away, someone with a camera emerged from a corner.
After that day, Tiffany felt uneasy every day. She had insomnia at night, and when she finally fell asleep, she would be awakened by nightmares.
Two days passed, and Gabriel hadn't come to question her about the truth.
She wondered, 'Could it be that Gabriel didn't believe Sophia?'
