Chapter 551 David Wants to Break Up Their Parents
Sophia tagged along with the Blackwoods to pay their respects to the ancestors and check out The Blackwood Manor.
The place was done, but not quite ready to move into yet. They had to hang tight for a bit longer.
Celeste was all smiles, setting up rooms for Sophia and the kids.
She grabbed Sophia's hand. "This is your home now. Swing by and crash here whenever you want, alright?"
David suddenly had a lightbulb moment. "Hey, you and Gabriel haven't tied the knot again, right?"
Sophia nodded.
"Then staying at The Lancaster Manor ain't cool. You should bring the kids back here soon."
The three kids exchanged worried glances.
They were thinking, 'Oh man, Uncle David's gonna split up Mom and Dad.'
Sophia was a bit taken aback too.
It wasn't that she didn't want to leave The Lancaster Manor, but it felt kinda sudden.
"But Gabriel's got custody of the kids." She didn't want to be apart from them. If she took them back to The Blackwood Manor, what about Ruth...
'And Gabriel wouldn't just let it slide, would he?' Sophia wondered to herself.
"Are you thinking about getting back with him?" David asked.
Before, Sophia would've flat-out told David she'd never remarry Gabriel.
But after everything that went down, she had to admit those old feelings were creeping back.
David wasn't having it. "If we'd found you sooner and stopped you from marrying him, you wouldn't have been hurt and had to fake your death and leave for five years."
"Now he wants to win you back and marry you again, but it's not gonna be that easy."
David saw Sophia as his own daughter. He knew Gabriel was a good guy, but because Gabriel had hurt Sophia before, he wasn't gonna let him off the hook that easily.
No way the Blackwoods were just gonna forgive and forget.
"And what about that Tiffany chick? Is she still hanging around him?"
Sophia said, "He doesn't seem to be in touch with Tiffany anymore."
David frowned. "Nah, Tiffany's like a ticking time bomb. Who knows if he'll get back with her someday?"
The more he thought about it, the more he felt Gabriel wasn't right for Sophia.
David mused, 'Sophia and Gabriel just don't fit.'
Sophia held David's hand and leaned on his shoulder. "Uncle David, I know you mean well, but let me handle my own marriage."
David was taken aback by Sophia's rare show of affection and thought, 'This is awesome!'
His heart was about to melt.
His mind got all fuzzy.
"Alright, if Gabriel messes with you, you gotta tell me."
"Okay!" Sophia felt confident now. She wasn't alone anymore.
She was part of the Blackwoods, with a solid backing. Anyone who wanted to mess with her had to think twice.
Celeste watched David and Sophia, who looked like father and daughter, and smiled.
Back then, they mistook Patricia for Sophia, and Patricia could never be this close to David. Colin didn't like Patricia either.
This was the power of blood ties; only those with the same genes would have such a connection.
"Sophia, in a few days, come back to Fusion Dynamics Corporation with me. After graduation, stay at Fusion Dynamics Corporation," Jennifer chimed in with her plan.
She was relieved the truth didn't come out after Patricia inherited Fusion Dynamics Corporation; otherwise, Patricia would've wrecked it.
Celeste nodded along.
But Sophia shook her head. "Grandma Celeste, Aunt Jennifer, I get where you're coming from, but I wanna go out there and get some real-world experience first."
Celeste frowned a bit.
She had been planning to announce Sophia as the heir to Fusion Dynamics Corporation soon, but it seemed like Sophia wasn't ready to step into that spotlight just yet.
Celeste sighed to herself, 'Well, Jennifer can still handle things, and I'm not too old for this.'
Letting Sophia spread her wings a bit wasn't a bad idea. If she stumbled, she could always come back and take over the family biz.
"Alright, have it your way."
Sophia hugged Celeste. "Thanks, Grandma."
Jennifer pouted, "What about me?"
Sophia then hugged Jennifer too. "Thanks, Aunt Jennifer."
Over at the hospital, Tiffany strutted in her high heels to a three-person ward at the end of the hall.
Right then, only Patricia was in the room.
She was curled up on the bed, looking totally out of it.
Tiffany cursed silently, 'Man, she’s really hit rock bottom.'
Tiffany shook her head. "Didn't think I'd see Miss Brown in such a sorry state."
Back in the day, Patricia had lorded over her, looking down from her high horse. Now that Patricia had fallen, anyone could come and kick her while she was down.
Patricia's eyes flickered when she heard the voice, and she shot Tiffany a death glare.
"Get out!"
Tiffany dragged a chair over and sat down like she owned the place. "Miss Brown, we were partners once. I'm not here to laugh at you; I'm here to help."
But the gleam in Tiffany's eyes said otherwise—she was loving every second of Patricia's downfall.
Patricia felt like her heart was being stabbed a thousand times. She wanted to rip Tiffany's face off, but even moving a little sent pain shooting through her broken bones.
"The Brown Group's toast, your dad's drowning in debt, and you've gone from rich girl to nobody. Must suck, huh?"
Patricia clamped her lips shut.
Tiffany kept going, "This is all Sophia's doing, right?"
She'd already heard that Sophia was the real Blackwood, and Patricia was just a stand-in. Now the Blackwoods had figured it out and brought Sophia back.
Sophia had gone from nobody to heiress overnight.
Tiffany felt a burning jealousy.
'Why do I have to scrape by while Sophia gets everything handed to her on a silver platter?'
"Don't you want revenge? Don't you want to see Sophia lose it all?"
Patricia's body twitched. Hell yeah, she wanted to drag Sophia down.
But now...
"You've got nothing left, and I'm the only one willing to help you." Tiffany pulled out a stack of cash from her bag and plopped it on the bedside table. "Take this, get better, and find a place to stay."
Patricia was stunned. "You... you really wanna help me?"
Tiffany said, "Of course, we both hate the same person."
Patricia never thought that Tiffany, who she'd humiliated before, would be willing to help her when she was at her lowest.
She stared at the money, feeling torn.
Patricia cursed inwardly, 'Tiffany's right; Sophia's the one who ruined me!'
From childhood to now, Sophia had always been beneath her.
'Why does Sophia get to take everything from me now?' she fumed.
Hatred started to boil over in Patricia's heart.
