Chapter 753 The Transfer Student
The adults were all busy with their careers, and the four children were diligently attending their classes.
Ethan and Sam had already mastered elementary school courses and even knew middle school material.
Emma, on the other hand, loved to play, so her progress wasn't as fast as theirs, but she also understood all the elementary school content.
Josie, however, had been influenced by Daisy in the past, so she could only keep up with the school's normal process now.
Therefore, after discussing it, the three children decided to give up skipping grades and stay with Josie, waiting until Josie could catch up with them and advancing together.
Josie was very touched, so she had been studying hard recently, even putting aside her beloved violin temporarily. She also had Caroline and Nicholas hire several tutors. Every day after school, she would read and do exercises, and she stopped going out on weekends to attend classes at home.
Josie didn't have Ethan and Sam's photographic memory, nor was she as clever and smart as Emma, but she was diligent.
With this diligence, Josie scored full marks in all subjects in the midterm exams, and the four children were once again tied for first place in their grade.
Because Josie studied hard, Emma had no one to play with.
After class, Emma lay bored on her desk.
"Josie, I'm so bored."
Ethan was recently working on a system, and Sam was drawing new works. It was boring to play games alone for her.
Josie was struggling with math problems and said without looking up, "You can interact with your fans."
"Not fun."
The fans preferred Emma to explain problems to their children.
She was clearly a gaming streamer, not a study streamer!
The class bell rang, and Ethan continued to tap various codes on his iPad, while Sam kept drawing.
Teacher Rebecca Grayson was already used to this. Considering they were all geniuses, Rebecca could only ignore it.
"Hello, class."
After letting the students sit down, Rebecca smiled gently and said to the door, "Come in."
A little boy with a backpack walked in.
The boy looked very clean, with no expression on his face. He seemed cold and cool, even though he was very young. His eyes looked as if he had experienced a lot, full of wariness towards the world.
"Class, this is our new transfer student. Please introduce yourself to everyone," Rebecca said to the boy gently after addressing the class.
The boy scanned the entire classroom but didn't speak.
Rebecca remembered that this boy was special and didn't like to talk, but she didn't expect him to be this silent.
"It's okay, don't be nervous."
Rebecca turned to write the boy's name on the blackboard, Cornelius Elikin.
"Cornelius is new here, so everyone should take care of and help him, okay?"
The children responded in unison, "Okay!"
"Cornelius, take that empty seat."
Cornelius looked in the direction Rebecca pointed and then walked over.
The seat was next to Emma, separated by a small aisle.
As Cornelius approached, Emma looked at his face and found him increasingly familiar.
Cornelius was very good-looking and cool.
Emma kept staring at him, trying to remember where she had seen him before.
Cornelius noticed Emma's gaze and glared at her sharply.
His fierce gaze, like a little wolf cub, startled Emma.
She immediately glared back defiantly, made a face at Cornelius, and then turned to Ethan and Sam to complain softly, "He glared at me!"
Ethan didn't look up; he was dealing with a tricky bug.
Sam was also very focused on drawing.
Emma turned back, feeling aggrieved.
During class, Emma was distracted by Cornelius.
She noticed that Cornelius wasn't paying attention in class either.
He was daydreaming!
She wanted revenge.
"Mr. Grayson," Emma raised her hand.
Rebecca looked over, "Emma, what's the matter?"
"Cornelius isn't listening carefully in class."
Suddenly mentioned, Cornelius turned his head and looked at Emma coldly.
Emma felt a bit guilty under his gaze but still puffed out her chest.
"Cornelius, pay attention in class," Rebecca gently reminded and then continued teaching.
Emma made a mischievous face at Cornelius and mouthed, "Serves you right for glaring at me."
Cornelius turned his head back indifferently and continued to daydream.
After class, everyone was curious about the new transfer student Cornelius, but no one dared to approach him because he seemed strange.
A classmate came over to Emma.
"Emma, you're so brave. You actually dared to tell Mr. Grayson that he wasn't listening carefully in class. I didn't even dare to look at him."
Emma said, "He really wasn't listening carefully."
Emma saw Cornelius lower his head and thought he was sad because she had tattled on him. She felt a pang of guilt.
Before Gabriel, she and Ethan had been used to protecting themselves with a tough exterior, so whenever someone made them uncomfortable, they would immediately find a way to retaliate, making sure the other person wouldn't dare to hurt them again.
Now that she thought about it, it wasn't nice to tattle on Cornelius right after he transferred.
Emma gently pushed aside the classmate next to her and walked over.
"Cornelius, I'm sorry."
Cornelius looked up, his eyes confused.
Emma was stunned. She finally remembered that Cornelius was the little boy they had met at the beach when their mommy took them there.
"It's you," Emma said excitedly, "Great, now we can play together."
Cornelius looked puzzled.
"Don't you remember me?" Emma's eyes widened, feeling a bit sad.
Cornelius lowered his head again, looking like he didn't want to talk to her.
This made Emma even sadder.
"What's wrong? Are you upset about something?" Emma sensed Cornelius's low mood.
Cornelius said nothing.
Emma wanted to ask more, but the break ended, and they had to continue with class.
In every class, Cornelius daydreamed. No matter how Emma tried to talk to him, he wouldn't respond.
Even when Rebecca called on him to answer questions, he just stood there motionless.
Gradually, Emma felt that something was wrong with Cornelius.
That night, Emma snuggled in Sophia's arms.
"Mommy, a very good-looking boy transferred to our class."
A boy? Gabriel immediately perked up his ears.
Emma continued, "He daydreams in every class and doesn't talk to anyone. Mommy, do you think he has the same illness Sam had before?"
When Sam was sick, he wouldn't talk or interact with people, but he would respond to them.
Sophia pondered, "It's possible."
Emma said, "Then he's so pitiful."
"Can I bring him some food in the future?"
Sophia replied, "Of course you can."
It was good for Emma to actively take care of and help her classmates, and Sophia wouldn't stop her.
Emma gave Sophia a kiss.
Gabriel quietly leaned his face over.
Emma had to give Gabriel a kiss too.
