Chapter 65 Ethan and Emma Take Advantage
Emma blinked her eyes a few times, staring at her scoundrel of a father.
This was her second time seeing her father up close, and he really was handsome, but he was also bad. No matter how handsome he was, he was still a scoundrel.
Emma felt anger in her heart, and her eyes burned with a flicker of fire, as if to burn Gabriel clean.
A trace of confusion flashed through Gabriel's mind. He smiled gently and tried to hug Emma, but she quickly dodged.
Gabriel: ...
Everyone was puzzled by the little one's reaction.
The host gently crouched down and said, "Emma, don't be afraid. This uncle here wants to give you an award."
Emma reached out towards Gabriel. "Give me the trophy."
Gabriel: ...
The child had a good attitude towards the host, so why was she treating him differently?
Where did things go wrong?
"Hug me, and I'll give it to you," Gabriel insisted.
He really wanted to hug her. She was so adorable, it would be a shame not to.
"My mommy said I shouldn't let strangers hug me."
"He's a stranger too." Why did you let him hug you then?
Gabriel pointed to the host. He didn't know why he was arguing with a child in front of everyone.
Alex held his forehead offstage. Boss, what's wrong? Did you take the wrong medicine? Where did your usual aloof image go?
"But he's more handsome than you," Emma added, thinking to herself, "Phew, I'm not lying on purpose. I just wanted to tease my bad, scoundrel of a father and avenge mommy."
The host's heart almost flew out when he heard this. He was actually more handsome than Mr. Lancaster!
Children have sharp eyes.
Gabriel's face turned dark. How could he lose to this host? But this little girl just wouldn't give him face.
Forget it, why bother arguing with a child?
Gabriel handed her the trophy. Originally, they should have taken a photo together, but Emma refused. Gabriel had no choice but to give up and came down with a black face.
As the dignified CEO of the Lancaster Group, he was rejected by a child, losing face.
He had to have lunch with the contestants later, so Gabriel didn't rush to leave. He sat expressionlessly below, watching the joyful scene on stage. Emma took photos with other contestants and the host, and everyone wanted to hold the little one.
Gabriel became puzzled again. Why did this child dislike him specifically? What was the reason?
He didn't recall ever offending this child.
Could it be because of her parents?
She appeared at Lancaster before. Her parents should be working at Lancaster, but they couldn't find out who her parents were.
As the competition concluded, everyone stood up and made their way out. Gabriel also got up and prepared to go backstage. In the crowd, his sharp eyes caught sight of David's burly figure.
"David?" Alex also noticed.
Gabriel walked over with a cold face.
Ethan noticed.
Afterward, he quickly hid in the crowd, and Gabriel didn't notice the small figure at all.
Instead, it was Sam and David who got caught by Gabriel.
Seeing their boss, David became extremely flustered, his eyes flickering, struggling to explain himself.
"Follow me."
Gabriel picked up Sam and walked towards the backstage, avoiding the crowd for Sam's sake.
Inside the lounge, David hung his head, hands behind his back, facing such a powerful boss, his mind went blank.
Gabriel sat on the sofa, casting a casual glance at David.
"Sam should be at kindergarten right now."
Sitting beside Gabriel, Sam tugged at his father's sleeve and gestured, "I wanted to come and watch the match."
David quickly explained, "The young master has recently taken an interest in games. When he found out there was a match today, he wanted to come and see. Boss, you said that if the young master wants to go somewhere, we should try to satisfy him."
Indeed, Gabriel had said that, and he looked gently at his son.
"Why did you suddenly start liking games?"
Sam didn't respond to him.
Well, his son rarely found something he liked, and Gabriel wouldn't stop him. Besides, Alfred said it was a good thing.
Gabriel became even more gentle. "Then later, I'll take you to have a meal with the other players."
Sam shook his head, indicating that he didn't want to go.
He wanted to celebrate with Emma and Ethan.
Gabriel didn't want to force Sam, so after giving him some instructions, he let David take Sam back.
However, once they left the hotel, Sam contacted Ethan and went to the restaurant to meet up with Ethan and Emma.
Emma had a hard time getting rid of the reporters and took off with her trophy.
Emma was ecstatic, boasting to Ethan in the private room of the restaurant.
"Wasn't I awesome?"
A trace of fondness and pride flashed in Ethan's eyes. Of course, his sister was amazing.
"I even embarrassed our wicked dad. Aren't I especially awesome?"
Emma proudly recounted her achievements, but after Sam arrived, the two of them stopped talking about Gabriel.
After all, Sam still didn't know their identities.
"Sam, you promised me that if I won the championship, you would fulfill one of my wishes," Emma's eyes sparkled with stars.
Sam nodded absentmindedly.
He had proposed fulfilling her wish to encourage Emma.
Excitedly, Emma quickly stated her wish, "I want you to talk to us."
Sam hesitated for a moment, his already fair cheeks paling even more, and his jet-black eyes lost their luster, becoming like ordinary stones.
Emma didn't care if he was sick or not, she huffed and threw a tantrum.
"You're a liar. I don't want to play with you anymore."
After saying that, with teary eyes, she threw her trophy and jumped off her chair, tears instantly rolling down like pearls.
Ethan looked at him disappointingly and followed behind Emma.
Suddenly, Sam felt like he was being betrayed by everyone. He lowered his head in loneliness, biting his rosy lips, and his eyes turned red. His slender hands clenched into fists tightly.
Did they really not want to play with him anymore?
Was he wrong?
He must be wrong!
"Emma."
Emma, who was walking towards the door, stopped and turned around with surprise, tears streaking down her fair face.
"What did you say?"
Probably because he hadn't spoken for a long time, Sam's voice sounded a bit hoarse and tender, very soft.
He called again, "Emma."
Emma wiped away her tears and ran back.
"Hmph, I forgive you, but from now on, you have to talk more in front of Ethan and me, you know?" She assumed a posture of an adult lecturing a child.
This little brother was really difficult to handle.
Sam smiled and his face lit up.
"You should call me too," Ethan eagerly approached.
It wasn't difficult to open his mouth once and call out again.
"Ethan."
Ethan corrected him, "Call me big brother."
Sam opened his eyes wide in confusion.
"I'm older than you, so you should call me big brother."
Emma joined in the fun, "I'm older than you too, so from now on, you have to call me big sister."
Sam: ...
He suspected that Ethan and Emma were trying to take advantage of him, but he had no evidence.
