Chapter 133 Give me Sam back
"Gabriel, Alfred is missing. I called him but his phone is turned off. I went to his office to look for him, and his assistant said he hasn't been seen for three days."
Gabriel didn't say anything and hung up the phone, then walked back.
"I've already had Alex report it to the police, but just found out that Alfred is missing."
Caroline cursed, "That bastard must have known things were about to unravel and ran away."
Sophia's eyes turned red, tears welled up inside, and she looked up at Gabriel with anger. "You think you're so capable, so why don't you send people to find him? Go to the ends of the earth if you have to!"
"I've sent people to investigate. You're not feeling well, I'll take you back first," said Gabriel, his brows furrowed tightly. This situation also caught him off guard, but he couldn't express his emotions like Sophia.
He was also furious, he blamed himself too, but it was useless.
Now, in order to bring the wrongdoer to justice, they had to find where the person was hiding.
Colin also thought Sophia needed to rest.
"You should go back and get some rest. Don't think too much. Things haven't reached the worst point yet, and the child's illness can slowly get better. As for the wrongdoer, they can still be caught."
Caroline said, "Yes, Sophia, you... you have a fever!"
She comforted Sophia and accidentally touched her forehead, feeling the scorching heat contrasting with the coldness of her own palm.
Colin and Gabriel both looked at her anxiously.
Colin reached out and touched Sophia's forehead, frowning. "Go to the hospital."
"No need, I'll just go home and take some fever-reducing medicine," said Sophia.
There was still a faint smell of alcohol on her body. At this moment, she felt dizzy and didn't know if it was because of the fever, the effects of the alcohol, or extreme worry after just learning the truth.
Caroline helped Sophia up, but she couldn't stand steadily and relied on Caroline for support.
Gabriel walked over and without a word, picked up Sophia horizontally.
"Hey..." Caroline wanted to stop him, but Gabriel was too decisive and domineering. He carried her away, and before leaving, he didn't forget to say to Colin, "Mr. Colin, I'll thank you properly another day."
Caroline quickly said goodbye to Colin and caught up with them.
Sophia didn't want to be carried by Gabriel. She moved a bit, her face looking very displeased.
"Let me down."
Gabriel ignored her.
Sophia became even angrier and felt even dizzier.
"What do you mean by this, Gabriel? Sam is with you, yet you're bringing trouble to my doorstep like this. Give me Sam back."
She was so angry that she clenched her fist to hit him, but because of her illness, she was weak and it felt more like tickling him.
"Fine."
"Give me Sam back... Huh? What did you say?" Sophia thought she misheard.
She was feeling dizzy.
"Were you applying it?"
Did I hear Gabriel say "okay"?
"As long as you behave and stop thinking about running away with Sam, I can allow you to see him, and even let him stay at home for two days."
What Sophia wanted was custody of Sam. What she wanted was to take all three children far away from Gabriel.
She stopped struggling and remained silent. Caroline followed behind, watching her every move without saying a word.
Gabriel placed Sophia in the passenger seat. With a dark expression, Sophia tried to get out but was forcibly held back by him. He placed one hand on her shoulder and pulled the seatbelt over the other.
He was leaning in close, and Sophia could clearly smell the faint fragrance that was so familiar to her. It was a scent she had been longing for, even in her dreams, for the past five years.
Sophia smirked and smiled mockingly.
Gabriel helped her fasten her seatbelt, and Caroline had already gotten into the car as well.
Of course, at a time like this, she couldn't possibly let her best friend go with this scumbag. She had to come along to prevent her friend from being hurt again.
Gabriel understood Caroline's thoughts, but he didn't say anything or stop her. He had no intention of doing anything to Sophia; he was only taking her back out of sympathy since she had a fever.
After all, she was the mother of his child. If anything happened to her, Sam would definitely be upset.
Yes, he just didn't want his son to be hurt.
No one spoke in the car. Caroline played with her phone and occasionally glanced at Sophia through the rearview mirror.
They passed by a pharmacy, and Gabriel stopped the car.
"Do we have medicine at home?" he asked.
Caroline didn't know who he was asking, but seeing that Sophia had closed her eyes and appeared to be asleep, and considering she had just returned to the country, she wasn't sure if there was any medicine at home.
"I'll go buy some," she said.
Caroline was about to get out of the car, but Gabriel had already gotten out before her.
She couldn't understand.
Seeing how anxious this scumbag was about Sophia, could it be that he still liked her?
But according to what Sophia had said, this shit man never liked her in the first place. He had even cheated on her with that woman named Tiffany during their marriage.
Could it be that five years later, this scumbag sees Sophia as outstanding and develops feelings for her?
Huh, a scumbag will always be a scumbag. They never change their nature. Even if the flowers at home are delicate and dripping with dew, they still can't compare to the stench outside...ugh, she meant Sophia is not a stench, that Tiffany is the stench.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the entrance of Flora Garden. Gabriel stopped the car and saw that Sophia was still sleeping. He didn't wake her up but instead got out of the car to carry her.
Caroline was filled with confusion. What's wrong with this scumbag? Why did he just drop her off at the entrance of the neighboring community? What's the matter with him?
She quickly got out of the car.
Sophia smelled that familiar scent again. She felt drowsy and as if she were floating in the sea, drifting up and down.
The girl felt as if it were five years ago, constantly hoping for his return, longing for his presence during her most difficult times. She wished for nothing more than a comforting embrace. But then, in a blink, it felt like it was five years later. He had someone else by his side named Tiffany, and she no longer expected anything.
Suddenly opening her eyes, Sophia's gaze was filled with a complex mixture of pain and hatred.
Upon seeing Gabriel's carefully sculpted chin, Sophia's eyes deepened, her voice hoarse, "Put me down. I can walk on my own."
She appeared much calmer now than she was at the hotel, although she was still running a fever. Her emotions seemed to have improved, and her little face displayed determination.
Gabriel hesitated for a moment but eventually let her down.
Sophia's feet touched the ground, and she staggered slightly, managing to steady herself with Gabriel's outstretched hand.
Caroline quickly went to support her.
"Gabriel, why did Alfred suddenly disappear? Are there any other people involved? I hope you can quickly find out and give me an explanation, give Sam an explanation."
Gabriel felt that she was better off just sleeping like she did earlier—obedient and gentle.
"I will inform you of any progress and results."
He would naturally investigate what she had mentioned. Those who dared to harm his son, Gabriel wouldn't easily let them go.
A trace of fierceness flickered in Gabriel's eyes.
He turned to Caroline and said, "Take good care of her."
Caroline thought to herself, I will take good care of Sophia.
