Chapter 484 Caught Doing Something Wrong

Caroline held back her emotions, glaring at Daisy and Clayton.

"You should be scolding and begging Nicholas, not me," she said coldly. "You can't handle Nicholas, so you come to bully me, a weak woman with no background. Even if you tell others, you'll be drowned in public opinion."

Clayton thought Caroline had a point. He never bullied women, but now it seemed like he was.

He frowned.

Daisy clutched his hand, clearly upset. "If you had left City B as agreed and never returned, I wouldn't have come looking for you."

Caroline didn't want to deal with someone as unreasonable as Daisy; it was too exhausting.

Daisy was like a madwoman, unable to listen to reason.

Caroline, irritated, said, "Nicholas is in the past for me. We're not together. Whether he treats you well or badly has nothing to do with me. Please don't come looking for me again!"

As she finished and was about to leave, Daisy suddenly grabbed her hand, catching Caroline off guard.

"Let go," Caroline didn't dare move, afraid Daisy might fall if she shook her off.

Then she'd have a lot of explaining to do.

But Daisy didn't let go, lightly shaking Caroline's hand and pretending to be unsteady.

Seeing this, Clayton, afraid Caroline might hurt Daisy, pushed Caroline away. "Don't you dare hurt Daisy!"

Clayton was strong, and Caroline fell to the ground. Pain shot through her buttocks, making her face pale.

There was a stone on the ground, and Caroline had landed right on it.

"Caroline!" Kieran ran over quickly.

"Clayton, how could you push Caroline!" Kieran scolded Clayton while helping Caroline up.

Seeing Caroline's pale face, Clayton felt a bit guilty. He hadn't meant to; he was just too worried about Daisy and didn't control his strength.

"You're bleeding!" Kieran exclaimed.

Caroline's beige dress was stained with blood; the sharp stone had cut her skin.

Clayton felt even more guilty. "I..."

"My stomach..."

"My stomach..." Clayton was about to apologize when he suddenly heard Daisy cry out in pain.

"Daisy, are you okay?" Clayton was at a loss.

Caroline barely managed to stand, the pain in her buttocks still lingering. She saw Daisy clutching her stomach and slowly sitting on the ground, her face pale.

After all, Daisy was pregnant. Seeing Clayton anxious but helpless, Caroline reminded him, "Call 911."

Kieran said, "Waiting for the ambulance might take too long. I'll help you take your sister to the hospital."

Clayton and Kieran helped Daisy leave, and Caroline didn't follow.

She tried to take a few steps.

It hurt too much.

Blood was still flowing down her thigh.

Caroline touched it and cursed her bad luck.

She would remember this grudge!

Caroline went to the school infirmary for treatment. The school doctor checked her and said it was just a superficial wound, not affecting the muscles or bones.

With no more classes, Caroline left the school with her violin.

Her car was in for maintenance today. As she walked out of the school gate, ready to hail a cab, a familiar car stopped in front of her.

"Ms. Clark, get in," Sharpe said with a smile, waving.

Caroline thought of Daisy just now and was about to refuse.

Sharpe urged, "Hurry up, we can't park here for long at this time."

Caroline had no choice but to get in the back seat.

Nicholas was holding a contract, seemingly focused, but he was always watching Caroline out of the corner of his eye.

Seeing her get in, he felt happy.

But then his expression changed.

"You're hurt?"

He quickly noticed the bloodstain on her dress and the pain on her face when she sat down.

"I fell," Caroline said.

"How could you fall for no reason? Where did you get hurt? Let me see." Nicholas reached out, too anxious to think.

Caroline uncomfortably tugged at her dress. "It's nothing, not serious."

Nicholas realized she must have hurt her buttocks.

Josie had half an hour before school ended, so Caroline thought of waiting outside to pick her up before going back.

Nicholas drove her to Josie's school. As Caroline was about to get out, he spoke, "No need to get out. I'll wait for Josie too."

Caroline had no choice but to stay put.

Nicholas was typing on his phone, and Caroline could only see his long fingers tapping on the screen.

Sharpe was also on his phone.

Nicholas said, "Find out why Caroline got hurt at school."

Sharpe replied, "Yes!"

At that moment, Nicholas' phone rang. He glanced at it, his brows furrowing. After a while, he answered.

"What? Okay, I don't have time," he said simply and hung up.

The car was very quiet, and Caroline could faintly hear urgency in the voice on Nicholas' phone.

'Could this call be about Daisy? Nicholas knows Daisy is in the hospital, yet he isn't worried at all.' Caroline felt a bit chaotic inside and turned to look outside.

She thought of the pregnancy updates Daisy had shown her. 'Does Nicholas really care about them?'

Feeling upset, Caroline took out her phone and started browsing Twitter.

She accidentally opened Nicholas' Twitter.

The latest post was from last night, posted at midnight.

She thought, 'He worked late again last night. Can his body handle such constant late nights? The previous post is from the day before, with a picture from a golf course. He can't play golf with his legs, so he must have been with a client.'

Caroline was looking at Nicholas' Twitter, and Nicholas was looking at her.

Nicholas raised his head, seeing her looking at his posts, and couldn't help but smile.

He had set these posts to be visible only to her. He thought she never looked at them, but he still insisted on posting every day.

Caroline suddenly realized Nicholas was watching her. She turned her head and met his eyes.

Instantly, Caroline felt like she had been caught doing something wrong.

She quickly exited the screen, awkwardly saying, "I... I occasionally check Twitter too."

After saying this, not knowing why, she awkwardly asked, "Daisy posted a lot of pregnancy updates. Did you see them?"

Mentioning Daisy, Nicholas' face darkened. Afraid Caroline might misunderstand, he quickly explained, "No, I've blocked her account."

Caroline looked at him in surprise.

For some reason, she felt a bit pleased.

The school bell rang, and Caroline was about to get out.

"You're hurt. Wait in the car. Sharpe will go get Josie," Nicholas said.

Sharpe responded and got out.

The car was left with just Nicholas and Caroline.
