Chapter 144 Sacrificing More Than One Can Bear

Caroline grew up in an orphanage, unaware of her birth parents. She was adopted once as a child, but when the couple had their own child a year later, they sent her back to the orphanage. Since then, she never agreed to be adopted again and relied on government funding to pursue her education. At a young age, she took on odd jobs to save money and learn to play the violin. It was a huge investment of her energy and finances to get into Scarlett Music Academy. She worked hard to earn scholarships while continuing to work part-time.

Choosing an artistic major required tremendous dedication and financial commitment in the early stages. As an orphan with no support, she had to pay a higher price compared to others. Eventually, she achieved success and went abroad to pursue her doctorate, becoming an outstanding violinist who toured around and accumulated a small fortune.

However, before her success, she had paid a painful price and almost jeopardized her own musical career at Scarlett. Today, she visited the orphanage to see the old orphanage director and her friends, sharing laughter and joy within the orphanage.

A new batch of children arrived at the orphanage, and they were lively and adorable. Caroline played with them all day and left some money for the director before leaving. The next day, Sophia took the three children out to play, and Caroline was worried and decided to accompany them.

The amusement park was crowded, and Sam was afraid, staying close to Sophia. Sophia gently smiled and said, "Sam, don't be afraid. Aunt Kelly is here, and she will protect you." Sam refused to go in.

"Just pretend you're fighting monsters. Defeat them, and you'll be a superhero. Look, Ethan and Emma went in and defeated the monsters too." The last time they came to the amusement park, he was locked in a dark room. This time... would Aunt Kelly really protect him?

Sam hugged Sophia's neck, feeling insecure and resisting. Sophia patiently comforted him.

At that moment, Gabriel called.

Sophia didn't want to answer, but Gabriel kept calling.

Could it be that Gabriel was coming to pick up Sam at this time? That shit man intentionally prevents her from spending more time with Sam.

The ringing annoyed Sophia, and when she answered the call, she let out a string of words.

"Gabriel, are you crazy? You brought Sam over so late yesterday, and now you're calling so early. You sweet-talked, but in reality, you don't want me to spend time with Sam. You heartless bastard..."

Gabriel was stunned by the scolding.

What did he do?

He just wanted to call and ask about Sam's condition.

This woman, Sophia!

Unreasonably making a fuss!

"Shut up!" Gabriel gritted his teeth.

When this woman starts to insult people, it can drive one to despair.

Sophia wanted to continue scolding; these two sentences were not enough to satisfy her.

Hearing the noisy background, Gabriel asked in a deep voice, "Where are you guys?"

"Don't even think about taking Sam away. I'm going to spend the whole day with Sam today. Come and pick him up after dinner."

Listening to the loud noises and various sounds of Scarlett laughter and other people's chatter, Gabriel deduced that they were at an amusement park.

How could Sophia dare to bring Sam to an amusement park?

Didn't she know that Sam would be scared?

"Which amusement park are you at?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, the woman hung up the phone, and now Gabriel really wanted to strangle Sophia.

But Sophia was sensible; she naturally knew that Sam would be scared. However, Colin had said that just because he was scared didn't mean he shouldn't interact with strangers. Adults should guide and gradually expose children to such situations, and eventually they would develop a habit and build immunity.

Of course, this process might require countless attempts and a long time.

Now Sophia was facing the first obstacle - Sam refused to go inside.

Ethan and Emma ran out, each holding a cotton candy.

Caroline handed Sam the light blue cotton candy she was holding.

"Caroline bought it. Take it and eat it."

Sam didn't take it.

Ethan rolled his eyes, the little guy had a way.

"Sam, come down."

Sam looked at him and then gently patted Sophia's shoulder, signaling for her to put him down.

Sophia thought Ethan was going to give Sam a psychology lesson, so she put Sam down.

Ethan took hold of Sam's hand.

"I'll accompany you. Are you still scared?"

Last time, Ethan had appeared like a superhero and saved him. For Sam, Ethan made him feel even safer.

He shook his head.

And so, Ethan led Sam inside while holding his hand.

Sophia and Caroline were dumbfounded.

Caroline couldn't believe it. "Ethan really has the big brother vibe. Sam actually listens to him."

"Mummy, come quickly!" Emma shouted from a distance.

Sophia and Caroline hurriedly followed.

Sam stayed close to Ethan, playing whatever Ethan played.

For Emma, the first ride at the amusement park was a must, the carousel.

Girls were defenseless against particularly beautiful carousels.

Emma even wanted Ethan to play with her, so Sam naturally followed.

But Sam was scared.

He stopped and didn't want to go up.

Ethan walked ahead but suddenly stopped, turning back.

"What's wrong?"

Sam shook his head, indicating he couldn't play.

Emma "This is so much fun. If you join us, you won't fall off."

She thought Sam was scared of falling off the horse.

Sam had fears about many things in the outside world, especially amusement parks. Whenever Tiffany wanted to punish him, she liked to bring him to amusement parks and enjoy his fear. As a result, he had developed a strong aversion to them. The reason he was willing to come in now was because of Ethan and Emma.

"You two go on and play," Sophia walked over and held Sam's other hand.

Hands.

Emma had no choice but to give up and hand over the ticket. Then she climbed onto the back of a unicorn.

"Ethan, come quickly."

Ethan couldn't pass because Sam refused to let go of him.

Emma watched for a while, then climbed back down and walked over to Sam.

"I don't want to play anymore, Sam. Let's go over there."

Instead of riding the carousel, Sam seemed happy, and the three children ran towards the wishing pool.

"Mummy, take a picture of us quickly."

It turned out that the three children wanted to take a photo. Sophia obediently took out her phone and snapped a few shots for them.

Sam didn't want to play anything, and Ethan and Emma resisted their desire to play and accompanied Sam around.

Whatever they wanted to eat, Sophia bought for them, but of course, they couldn't eat too much unhealthy food.

"Um, I need to use the restroom."

Emma held her stomach.

"Aunt Caroline, take me there."

Caroline took Emma to the restroom while Sophia sat on a chair with Ethan and Sam, waiting.

When Emma came out of the restroom, she saw a familiar tall figure.

Oh my, why is that scoundrel of a father here?

"Auntie, let's hurry and leave."

Emma grabbed Caroline and quickly moved away.

Back with her mother, Emma leaned close to Ethan's ear and whispered in a voice only they could hear.

"I saw our scoundrel of a father."

“What?”

If they encountered their scoundrel of a father here, they would be exposed!

Now, immediately, they had to get their mother to take them away.

"Oh dear, my stomach hurts." Emma's acting moment had arrived.
